Which team is the biggest threat to the Cleveland Browns playoff chances in 2023? Aug 31, 2023

Show notes

The Cleveland Browns practice squad is set.

The waiver wire has passed, and Andrew Berry claimed DB Khalef Hailassie from the Chiefs. To make room for him, the team parted ways with AJ Green.

Berry also signed QB PJ Walker to the practice squad and did not resign Kellen Mond. Walker led the Panthers to multiple wins last season as the starter but did not win the QB2 job in Chicago.

The team also signed CB Lorenzo Burns, WR Jaelon Darden, G Michaell Dunn, RB Hassan Hall, DT Trysten Hill, DE Sam Kamara, S Tanner McCalister, TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden, DE Lonnie Phelps, LB Charlie Thomas III, DE Isaiah Thomas and WR Austin Watkins to the practice squad. All 12 of the players were with the Browns in training camp this year.

In addition, the team has agreed to terms with K Lucas Havrisik and T Alex Leatherwood.

Cade York was not claimed on waivers and signed a FA deal with the Titans. Anthony Schwartz is still looking for his next team.

Joe Burrow announced on Instagram he will play against the Browns in Week 1 of the NFL season. Burrow has been nursing a calf injury since the beginning of camp.

Where do the Browns stack up against the rest of the AFC contenders? The guys put the teams in tiers.

McNuggets presents some hypothetical trade ideas to make the 2023 NFL season more fun. That should go over well.

Plus, which Cleveland rookie is the most hyped right now - Emoni Bates, Dorian Thompson-Robinson or Dawand Jones?

Will Za'Darius Smith playing opposite Myles Garrett give the Browns the BEST pass rush in the NFL? Aug 30, 2023

Show notes

...and then there were 53.

Andrew Berry officially cut down the Cleveland Browns roster to its initial 53 man form on Tuesday, as the waiver wire period begins Wednesday afternoon.

Maurice Hurst and Austin Watkins Jr. were the most notable omissions from the initial 53 man roster, while UDFAs Mohamoud Diabete & Ronnie Hickman both made the roster. Jordan Elliott also made the roster over Hurst at the DT position, which is likely a money move. The guys will grade the team's roster heading into Week 1.

The perceived hope is to resign Hurst & Dunn after the waiver wire period, but both are unrestricted free agents who can sign with any team they choose.

The Browns could also go fishing for some more talent on the waiver wire, and the guys are looking into potential cut candidates who could fit their system.

Za'Darius Smith is next up in our 32 in 32 series.

Plus, Ohio State AD Gene Smith returns to the show to preview his final season as the Buckeyes AD.

Was Dalvin Tomlinson the most significant off-season addition for the Cleveland Browns? Aug 29, 2023

Show notes

Cleveland Browns fans, say hello to Dustin Hopkins.

Andrew Berry traded for the former Chargers kicker to sure up its special teams unit after Cade York missed two more kicks vs. KC in the preseason finale. York, a 2022 fourth round pick, was later cut by the team with the hopes he clears waivers and can rejoin the Browns practice squad.

It's cut down day around the league as NFL rosters get trimmed from 76 to 53. Who will make the Browns' final roster and who will be on the outside looking in when it's all said and done?

Cleveland made its initial cuts on Monday, including parting with OL Michael Dunn, who had been starting in camp in place of Joel Bitonio. Does AB have another slick move up his sleeve with this one?

Denzel Ward is in concussion protocol as we head into Week 1. Should he have been out on the field against the Chiefs in Week 3 of the preseason or not?

Plus, Dalvin Tomlinson is up next in our 32-in-32 series.

What is Cade York's future & how LEGIT is the Cleveland Browns defense? | Aditi Kinkhabwala Aug 28, 2023

Show notes

Cade York may not be the Cleveland Browns kicker on Week 1 vs. Cincinnati.

Kevin Stefanski declined to endorse the second year kicker as the sure fire starter on Sunday, which is a 180-degree turn from his previous statements all training camp. York missed an extra point and the potential game tying FG vs KC.

Deshaun Watson got his most playing time of the preseason vs. the Chiefs and looked pretty solid, including connecting with David Njoku on a perfectly thrown TD ball.

The Browns wide receiver room is starting to take shape. Stefanski announced Sunday it was cutting Anthony Schwartz, while Jakeem Grant was placed on IR with another season ending injury. However, Stefanski also announced Marquise Goodwin was being elevated from the NFI list and is eligible for the 53 man roster, putting Austin Watkins Jr.'s future with the team in jeopardy.

The Browns also traded for RB Pierre Strong this weekend to solidify the RB room. Strong was drafted ahead of Jerome Ford in last year's NFL Draft.

Finally, Aditi Kinkhabwala joins the show to give us even more insight from the sideliens on the Browns' first team defense taking on the Chiefs backups.

Why Denzel Ward is PRIME for a MONSTER season in Jim Schwartz's defense | Cleveland Browns Aug 25, 2023

Show notes

Farewell, Josh Dobbs.

After signing a deal with the Cleveland Browns this offseason, Andrew Berry traded Dobbs and a 7th round pick to the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for a 2024 5th round pick.

That makes Dorian Thompson-Robinson, aka DTR, QB2 for the upcoming season. DTR has been stellar throughout training camp and the team felt strongly enough about his play to make him Deshaun Watson's backup.

Guys like Austin Watkins Jr., Anthony Schwartz, Tony Fields, Jordan Elliott, Ronnie Hickman and Mohamoud Diabete are on the fringe of making the team's 53 man roster and need big time performances against KC on Saturday to lock up a spot. We'll predict what we think each of them will do in the preseason finale.

Denzel Ward is next up in our 32 in 32 series.

Then James Rapien of LockedOn Bengals makes his debut to preview the Browns' week 1 matchup against the Bengals.

And we end the show with another edition of "Keep, Cut, Trade" to send everyone off into the weekend.
