Does Joe Flacco give the Browns a QB advantage over the Jaguars? + Guardians win the MLB Draft lotto Dec 06, 2023

Show notes

Joe Flacco vs. CJ Beathard -- the QB matchup we've all been dreaming of.

With Deshaun Watson on IR and Trevor Lawrence battling a high ankle sprain, we're most likely in for a battle of the backups when the Cleveland Browns host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Flacco threw for 254 yards and 2 TDs in his debut, while Beathard held his own in relief duty for Lawrence on MNF against the Bengals.

KC Keeler, Joe Flacco's college coach, makes his UCSS debut today to share some of his favorite Flacco stories from back in the day.

Tony Wiggins, who covers the Jaguars, also makes debut to preview Sunday's potential playoff preview matchup.

The Cleveland Guardians were the bell of the ball last night, winning the MLB Draft lotto despite only having a 2% chance at winning. That means Cleveland will pick #1 overall in next summer's draft.

Is this a franchise changing moment for the organization?

Joe Thomas weighs in on Joe Flacco being the Clevleand Browns QB, Deshaun Watson's toughness & more Dec 05, 2023

Show notes

Week 13 is in the books and if the season ended today, the Cleveland Browns would be in the AFC Playoffs.

Will that be the case when Week 18 concludes, or will the Browns fall out of the top seven seeds due to the amount of injuries sustained?

Deshaun Watson was seen in a suite for the Browns game vs. the Rams on Sunday. He was on the field with his teammates prior to kickoff. Joe Burrow was spotted on the sideline during the game against the Jaguars on MNF, helping Jake Browning answer any questions he had.

Should DW4 be on the sideline with his teammates during the games? Do you have any issue with him sitting in a suite and watching from above?

Denzel Ward hasn't played in two games now for the Browns and the team's secondary has taken a hit. His status for Sunday vs. the Jaguars is TBD. Is there a chance Ward actually is the most valuable player on the Browns defense?

The UCSS crew grades the PFF graders this week for the team's performance against the Rams.

Mary Kay Cabot and Joe Thomas both join the show today to help us figure out what's gone wrong with the Browns and how Kevin Stefanski can get the team back on track.

Did Joe Flacco have the BEST single-game performance of any Cleveland Browns QB this season? Dec 04, 2023

Show notes

The Cleveland Browns thought they needed a heroic effort from Joe Flacco in his first start in 11 months in order to beat the LA Rams, but that turned out not to be the case.

Flacco played great in his Browns debut, throwing for 254 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. The interception came at a crucial time, but for the most part, Flacco was better than advertised.

The issue was the Browns defense, which has looked like a shell of its former self the last two weeks on this West Coast road trip.

Russell Wilson carved them last week in Denver, and Matt Stafford did the same on Sunday. Stafford threw for 3 TDs, Kyren Williams ran for another, and Puka Nacua looked like the second coming of Jerry Rice against this battered and bruised Browns defensive unit.

Myles Garrett played for Cleveland, but didn't record a single stat for the first time in his career.

Dustin Hopkins missed a crucial extra point in the game which could have changed the outcome, but at the end of the day, the Browns fell in LA, 36-19.

Where do the Browns go from here and how does it get fixed?

CLEVELAND BROWNS VS LA RAMS INSTANT REACTION: Joe Flacco impressions, defensive issues & more chaos Dec 04, 2023

Show notes

It's Joe Flacco time for the Cleveland Browns, and it started with a bang.

Flacco go the start today against the LA Rams and his opening drive was masterful. Flacco connected with Amari Cooper over the middle for a big 3rd down conversion, and then found Jerome Ford on a wheel route all alone for an easy score. It was the 6th opening drive TD the Rams have allowed this season.

After that, the Browns offense stalled, with four straight punts. However, the key for Flacco was to not the turn the ball over, and in the first 30 minutes, he didn't do it.

Defensively, Matt Stafford found Puka Nacua on a beautiful pass for another long TD score. Stafford thread the needle between TakiTaki and a backup DB.

Other than that big play, the Browns did a good job slowing down the Rams offense. Kyren Williams was a non-factor for the most part after going off the last month.

However, Myles Garrett was limited in the first half as he recovers from a shoulder injury he suffered against Denver.

At the half, the Rams led the Browns 13-10.

Show notes

Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt says Joe Flacco still has an elite arm and arm strength, despite being 38 years old.

As of Friday morning, DTR still hasn't cleared concussion protocol, setting up a path for Flacco to make his first start for Cleveland since signing with the team a few weeks ago.

If Flacco is tabbed QB1 for this game, can the veteran lead the Browns to a win over the Los Angeles Rams?

Myles Garrett & Aaron Donald are two of the best pass rushers in all of football, but who will have the bigger impact on the game Sunday? Myles is hurt but goes up against subpar tackles, while AD is healthy but has to face Bitonio & Teller.

Chris Rose joins the show to preview Sunday's big game, which some are calling a must-win for Cleveland.

McNuggets has 5 stats you need to know before this matchup kicks off.

And JB Bickerstaff is on the hottest of hot seats after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost their worst game of the season on Thursday to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Donovan Mitchell said afterwards something has to change -- is he alluding to a swap of head coaches?

We'll see you on YT from 11-12:30 and then on WKYC from 12:30-1.
