How many more key injuries can the Cleveland Browns withstand before breaking? Dec 12, 2023

Show notes

No team in the NFL has dealt with more injuries this season than the Cleveland Browns.

It started with Jack Conklin. Then it was Nick Chubb. Then Deshaun Watson. Then Denzel Ward. Now Dawand Jones is out for the season after tearing his MCL in practice. Grant Delpit may be headed to the IR with a groin injury. Ethan Pocic & Jordan Elliott were knocked out of the Jaguars game and never returned.

At some point, there's just not enough depth in the world to keep the ship afloat, but at the moment, Kevin Stefanski and the Browns have overcome every piece of adversity at 8-5 and in the 5th AFC Playoff spot.

Charles Davis and Mary Kay Cabot join the program to talk a little Browns football.

With all the information we have now, with everything being taken into consideration, if you could take back the season ending injury to Deshaun Watson or Nick Chubb, which would you do?

Plus, the Cleveland Guardians re-signed Austin Hedges to a 1-year, $4M deal. Is this the Guardians big move of the offseason?

Kevin Stefanski continues to find ways to lead the Cleveland Browns to victory Dec 11, 2023

Show notes

Joe Flacco impressed the world in his first start with the Cleveland Browns.

His second start - against the Jags - was even better.

With Kevin Stefanski calling plays, Flacco threw for 311 yards and 3 TDs, becoming the first Browns QB to hit 300+ passing yards and 3 TDs in a win since Baker Mayfield in 2020.

He's also the first Browns QB to throw for 300 yards this season. His 5 TD passes in his first two games with the team are the most in Cleveland history dating back to the 70s.

The Browns needed all those points in a 31-27 win to keep the Victory Monday & playoff dreams alive in what could potentially be a preview of a first round playoff matchup. If the season ended today, the Browns would be the 5-seed and travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars in the 4/5 matchup.

Defensively, Myles Garrett and company forced 4 turnovers in the win, and held Trevor Lawrence & company in check for the most part. Evan Engram was able to get loose a few times, but outside of him, no one really had a big game for Jacksonville.

Martin Emerson Jr. had two interceptions on the day and Greg Newsome hauled in an INT of his own, which led to some short fields for the Browns offense to work with.

Corey Bojorquez, Dustin Hopkins and James Proche all made big plays on the special teams units as well to help the Browns secure a much needed win to snap a 2-game skid.

The Browns are 8-5 right now, in the thick of the playoff hunt, and are positioned very nicely to secure a playoff spot in a few weeks.

Let's sit back and enjoy this VICTORY MONDAY.

CLEVELAND BROWNS VS JACKSONVILLE JAGAURS INSTANT REACTION: Joe Flacco magic, David Njoku TDs & more Dec 10, 2023

Show notes

The Cleveland Browns didn't need to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars to stay in the thick of the playoff hunt, but a win would certainly help.

At the half, the Browns led the Jaguars 14-7, thanks in large part to some Joe Flacco magic and two touchdown passes to David Njoku. For Njoku, it's the first multi-TD game of his young career.

The first TD came on a 3rd-and-1 play action shot that left him with about 50 yards of space between him and the closest defender. It was a beautifully designed play by Kevin Stefanski. The second score came on another play action TD, except this time, Njoku broke a tackle and sprinted to the end zone.

The Browns defense also showed up to play, sacking Trevor Lawrence twice in the opening 30 minutes and holding Jacksonville to one score. The Jaguars only TD came on a short field pass to Evan Engram, which was set up after Amari Cooper fumbled in the Browns own red zone.

In the 2nd half, the Browns forced a 3-and-out on the first JAX drive and turned that into points when Kareem Hunt took a wildcat snap from 3 yards and out and found the end zone. That made it 21-7 CLE.

However, Antonio Jackson sacked Joe Flacco and forced him to fumble, which set up a 1-yard Travis Etienne TD run to cut the Browns lead to 21-14.
