RIP Jim Brown - Remembering & honoring the best player in the history of the Cleveland Browns May 22, 2023

The world lost a legend on Friday when it was announced Cleveland Browns icon Jim Brown passed away at the age of 87.

Brown was arguably the best running back to ever play in the NFL and was also a civil rights stalwart who fought for equality.

Jim Brown is the only player to ever win the NFL's MVP award as a rookie, which was just the start of his legendary career.

Per the team's release on his passing:

"Brown is the Browns’ all-time rushing leader with 12,312 rushing yards and 106 touchdowns across his nine-year career, which spanned from 1957-1965. He never missed a game in his career, led the league in rushing eight times and was voted MVP three times. Brown was an NFL Champion with the Browns in 1964 and helped lead them to the NFL Championship game three times (1957, 1964, 1965). He was also voted to the Pro Bowl every year of his career and was a first-team All-Pro selection in eight seasons.

Brown was considered the greatest running back in the history of the sport at the time of his retirement and remains one of the greatest rushers to ever play in the NFL. He sits 11th all time in rushing yards and sixth all-time in rushing touchdowns.

Born in St. Simons Island, Georgia, in 1936, Brown’s athletic feats began at Manhasset Secondary School, where he dominated in football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse and track as a high school athlete. His otherworldly talents led him to Syracuse, where he continued to excel as a multisport athlete in football, basketball, lacrosse and track."

You can make that case after the addition of Za'Darius Smith last week. Pairing him up with Myles Garrett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Obo Okoronkwo, Siaki Ika, Alex Wright & Isaiah McGuire gives Jim Schwartz so many options to work with on the defensive line.

The Cleveland Browns traded for Minnesota Vikings' pass rusher Za'Darius Smith. Smith has played eight seasons in the NFL and has tallied 180 Tackles | 54.5 Sacks | and 9 Forced Fumbles in his career. Smith also has had 10+ sacks in his last three full seasons. The Browns will finally have a dominant pass-rush presence opposite of Myles Garrett.
