    Hannibal Season 3 Episode 13 Review Sep 03, 2015
    Show notes

Hold back the tears, take a deep breath and lets do this Fannibals…as we, The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, joined by Derek (our editor-in-chief), explore the glorious roller coaster of a ride that was our Hannibal The Wrath of the Lamb Podcast Season 3 Episode 13 . We discuss all things Hannibal as we move from the Tableau to the Table and everything in between for the Hannibal grand finale…and what a finale we were given! We discuss the misdirect, bluffs, plans, counter plans, twists and double crosses in this amazingly fitting and complex end to Hannibal. We talk all about that incredible team up by Hannibal and Will as they overpower the Great Red Dragon; followed by that post-murderous and bloody embrace; followed by the plunge over the edge, which is in turn followed by that fabulously debatable post-credit scene with Bedilia…all wrapped up in the perfectly apt and flowing music track “Love Crime”by Siouxsie Sioux and Brian Reitzell. We really enjoyed the episode a great deal and what more can we say except…Do you know who you’ve invited for dinner?!

Hannibal The Wrath of the Lamb Podcast Season 3 Episode 13 – Synopsis

Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage) stages his suicide, allowing Reba to escape the wrath of the Red Dragon under the belief that he is dead, and to throw the FBI off his scent. But Dolarhyde has other plans to meet with and kill Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) as he ambushes Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) demanding that he leads him to Lecter. Will, however, has grand plans of his own as he seemingly hatches a plan with the knowledge of Jack Crawford and Alanna Bloom to capture (or is that slay) Francis Dolarhyde, using Hannibal Lecter in his ploy. After Hannibal has agreed to draw out Dolarhyde following a visit by Graham, counter plans are drawn up by Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) to kill both Lecter and Francis once they are caught. But the truth is revealed to Bedilia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) where Will reveals his true intentions of aiding Lecter’s actual escape and joining him. Bedilia, whiskey in hand, voices her own self-interested concerns about the perilous plan as Will continues his unknown game with Hannibal. As the plan is implemented, Dolarhyde ambushes the convoy leaving Will and Hannibal to flee to a cliff-side house where hannibal had previously kept Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl) and Miriam Lass (Anna Chlumsky). Dolarhyde follows them to the house, where the final amazing showdown takes place and the wrath of the lamb is released from Will as he faces his darkest fears as he too becomes a killer. Working together Graham and Lecter overpower Dolarhyde and kill him. Both soaked in his blood, Graham embraces Lecter, and then pulls them both over the cliff to ambiguous fates. Post-credits – Du Maurier sits alone at a table set for three people. Her own left leg is severed, cooked and prepared, much like Abel Gideon’s (Eddie Izzard), as she waits for her guests to arrive and dine.

    Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12 Review Aug 27, 2015
    Show notes

The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are back to say Ciao, Bienvenue, Willkommen and Welcome to the Fannibals as we discuss the penultimate episode of Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12 And The Number Of The Beast Is 666. In this weeks episode we return to the Tableau to the Table and everything in between…and what a horror Tableau it is as Frederick Chilton becomes the latest and most lip-less victim of the Red Dragon! We discuss the amazing performance of Raul Esparza as he captures the terror of Dr Frederick Chilton, his abuse and torture at the hands of Francis Dolarhyde and the quiet hatred he feels towards his betrayer – Will Graham – as the FBI plan to ensnare the Tooth Fairy goes horribly, horribly wrong. We’re glad to see Hannibal feast on something better than hospital food as we bask in Hannibal’s enjoyment of Frederick’s top lip (or was it his bottom lip?) along with Chilton’s nightmare predicament. We agree with Bedilia as she asserts to Will that if “You play, you pay”. Indeed, Will appears to be playing and he is becoming quite the dubious soul as we talk about the holy Hannibal trinity of Hannibal (the dragon), Jack (God) and Will (the lamb of God)…don’t forget the wrath of the lamb!! Do you see?! Do you see?! Do you see?!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 12 And The Number Of The Beast Is 666 – Synopsis

Following the attempted murder of Will Graham’s family and with the Red Dragon still at large Graham (Hugh Dancy), Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas), and Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) devise a plan to capture Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage). To these ends the FBI enlists the help of Dr. Fredrick Chilton (Raúl Esparza) and Freddie Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) in the hope of drawing the Tooth Fairy into an ambush through demeaning insults published in Tattle Crime. However, Will’s increasingly disjointed empathy for the Red Dragon impacts his psyche and he identifies Chilton as the pet – the first victim to be taken by Dolarhyde in his previous murders. However, the FBI plan fails, as Dolarhyde becomes aware of the ambush, kidnapping Chilton who is taunted, mocked and abused in to terror by the Great Red Dragon. Glued to a wheelchair, Chilton scrambles to save his own life groveling to Dolarhyde he states that he will refute the published lies in the Crime Tattle; but Dolarhyde has his own form of justice as he bites and tears Chilton’s lips from his face and sets him alight in a reflection of Lounds own staged death. As Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) receives an unexpected edible gift in the post – tasty – Dolarhyde is driven to reveal himself to another!!

    Hannibal Season 3 Episode 11 Review Aug 21, 2015
    Show notes

Welcome back Fannibals! The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are back as we discuss the fourth part of the Red Dragon story arc in Hannibal Season 3 Episode 11 And The Beast From The Sea. In this weeks episode we take a different approach to our podcast as we look at our top five nibbles and have ourselves a buffet-style look at everything from episode 11. We discuss everything from the introduction (or return) of the iconic hockey mask worn by Hannibal, the apparent pleasure of Dr Alanna Bloom as she revokes all privileges from a very naughty Hannibal (including his loo) and we are saddened by the break up of Dolarhyde and McClane…although it’s probably for the best! We chat about Jack Crawford’s true colours and whether he is a “Fisher of Men”? We are terrified, feared-up and tense for Molly and Walter as we see the Tooth Fairy attack the very heart and soul of the series Will’s home and family unit, as Molly and Walter are placed in serious peril. Also in a nod to the Tableau we give an honourable shout out to the poor road kill man shot by Dolarhyde…who was he, was he simply popping out for milk and will he be missed? Finally, all the inter-relationships are explored between the Hannibal holy trinity of Dolarhyde, Hannibal and Will Graham as these progress in startling directions in this episode. Are you ready to change?!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 11 And The Beast From The Sea – Synopsis

With the events at the museum still fresh in the minds of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and the FBI and a full moon approaching the time for the Red Dragon to strike again is rapidly approaching but they lack a solid lead on the Tooth Fairy. However, little does Will Graham know that Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage), following his hallucinations and telephone exchanges with Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen), has resolved to go after Graham’s own family – Molly (Nina Arianda) and Walter (Gabriel Browning Rodriguez) – to spare Reba McClane (Rutina Wesley) and appease the Red Dragon’s thrist for transformation and death. Molly is hospitalised with a gun shot wound as she and Walter narrowly escape Dolarhyde wrath. Meanwhile, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and the FBI learn that Hannibal has been in contact with the Tooth Fairy killer under the guise of receiving calls from his lawyer – all cell privileges are revoked by Alanna Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) but she offers Hannibal a chance for redemption, which whilst tempting he doesn’t take. As things seemingly close in around Dolarhyde he terminates his relationship with McClane insisting that he is afraid he will hurt her. An angry and enraged Will Graham is also afraid that he will hurt someone; as following a conversation with Molly after her surgery, he Graham goes to Lecter, stating that he has had it with him and all these “crazy sons of bitches”. Lecter calmly stares at him and asks Graham whether he also craves change like him and his “brother” the red dragon.

Welcome Fannibals…you look stunning clothed, this week, in the sun! The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are back as we discuss everything from the Tableau (sort of) to the Table (kind of) and, of course, everything in between. In this episode of our podcast we chat more about people and animals knocked out and unconscious rather than murdered as we are transfixed by actors, music, writing and cinematography in the intimate and amazing scene with the sedated Tiger, McClane and Dolarhyde at the zoo. John even goes as far as to state that it’s his favourite scene of season 3 so far! We also give an honourable shout out to the poor coshed out museum curator who is knocked out at the hands of Dolarhyde…but not forgotten. We discuss the developing relationship between Dolarhyde and McClane as things move from the zoo to the bedroom and get seriously (dragon) hot on the sofa and then in the bed! The return of Bedilia to the story-line causes us to ponder why? But we are eventually persuaded by her metamorphosis in to a cold-hearted, ruthless psychopath…we mean psychiatrist. Crush or care…what would you do to an injured, vulnerable bird lying on the sidewalk? Finally, we get giddy about that iconic painting eating scene by Dolarhyde and his near miss with Will Graham, as we chat about the art we’d most like to eat! High art painting or band poster?!

Meanwhile, Will also catches up to Bedilia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) and both discuss their experiences with Hannibal. Du Maurier states that she learned the power in the alchemy of lies and truths from Hannibal and suggests that Graham has also learned from Hannibal and that he too is capable of righteous violence. He devours the painting believing it will free him from the beast’s influence. Welcome Fannibals clothed with the sun! The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are back as we discuss everything from the Tableau (including a kitty tableau) to the Table and everything in between. In this episode of our podcast we chat about the introduction of Reba McClane, played by Rutina Wesley aka Tara from True Blood, and the beginnings of this important connection with Francis Dolarhyde. We discuss the return of that wonderful bromance as Will Graham and Hannibal exchange notes separated only by 4 inches of perspex glass! We talk about Will and his bad (Hannibal) habits as his profiling technique has him immersed in the dangerous territory of Francis Dolarhyde. We talk about the tail of Francis Dolarhyde (Richard Armitage, drool) – where did it come from? – and can’t help but go back to those Blake paintings because of that episode title. We also take a look at Will as he adopts another four legged friend, see the return of Freddy Lounds (Lara Jean Chorostecki) and find out that Alanna Bloom is still happily in love with Margot and is mother to potentially the devil baby Verger; but we of course, of course, of course discuss the great quintessential summer accompaniment to Hannibal, the Great British Bake Off, that returns to BBC One. Who would win The Tooth Fairy, Hannibal, or Will Graham or would they just eat the other contestants? You decide!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 9 And The Woman Clothed With The Sun - Synopsis

The search for the serial killer known as “The Tooth Fairy” develops as Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) delves into dangerous territory, at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, where he meets Dr Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) who agrees to consult on the murders with him. However, Alanna Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas), still together with Margot Verger (Katharine Isabelle) and mother of the heir to the Verger estate, meets with Will to warn him of his dangerous methods with Hannibal; and she confronts Hannibal about his intentions for Will Graham, warning him that the improvements to his cell are conditional. Despite her warnings Will Graham delves further in to ever more dangerous territory and his disturbing profiling technique as he envisions himself in Dolarhyde’s psyche at first covered in blood under moonlight and then during a nightmare where he feels and imagines the murder of one of the slain families. All the while Francis Dolarhyde’s (Richard Armitage) hallucinations progress ever further. As he writhes in pain we behold his devil like forked tail! Despite his perceived transformation to the Great Red Dragon, he meets a blind woman, Reba McClane (Rutina Wesley), at a film developing laboratory and they unexpectedly begin to form a connection. Back in his cell, Hannibal’s recollections of Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl), his child to Will, are interrupted by an interesting phone call!

Fabulous Fannibals…truly fabulous! The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are literally shaking with a mixture of excitement as we discuss everything from the Tableau to the Table and everything in between. In what feels like a new season, we chat about the start of the exploration of the Great Red Dragon and the transformation of the one and only Mr. Francis Dolarhyde. We of course drool over…I mean talk about Richard Armitage (we’re fans!) and his portrayal of this icon character. We look at Dr Chilton and Alanna’s new positions in the psychiatric profession, what their big “lie” might be and take look at Will’s new life with Molly and Walter. We delve in to the mythology of those paintings by William Blake who inspires the monster; and of course we discuss those “friends reunited” moments as Jack Crawford calls on Will, Price and Zeller come racing to the finger-print lifting rescue and Will drops in on an old friend – Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane has never been quite so busy!! Hannibal Season 3 Episode 8 The Great Red Dragon - Synopsis

Three years after Hannibal surrendered to the FBI at Will Graham’s home in Wolf Trap, Virginia, he has been imprisoned and institutionalised for three years at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane now under the administration of Alanna Bloom. However, a new devil, whose inspiration are Blake’s paintings of The Great Red Dragon, has emerged and is intent on transforming from his mortal self to the cycle of the moon. Known as “The Tooth Fairy”, due to the prevalence of bites on his female victims, Francis Dolarhyde terrorises “perfect” families, in “perfect” neighbourhoods – attacking the American Dream. But after a second brutal and horrific murder of another middle-class family Jack Crawford, still at the FBI, must reach out to Will to help track down and catch this vicious serial killer. As the investigation begins to unfold Will, using his own special skill set, re-enacts the killing in his mind. As Price, Zeller, and Graham team up they determine that the killer placed pieces of broken mirror in the eyes of the victims so he could look at and in to himself. However, with these troubling revelations Graham finds he must consult with a former colleague.

Wow Fannibals Wow! Not that is what we call an amazing and challenging episode of Hannibal. The Fine Young Hannibals, John and Irene, are picking their jaws off the ground in shock, awe, disbelief and nervous hilarity following that episode of Hannibal where we discuss everything, literally everything, from the Tableau to the Table; and everything, yes everything, in between including overcooked penis!!! We of course chat nonchalantly (not) about the shock surrogate pig and the wrath of momma Margot. Discuss the benefits of a good facial and the many uses of a cattle prod, especially for easing the prostate! We of course bask in the good news and the survival of Jack Crawford in Florence at the hands of the corrupt Questuera and celebrate that Mason Verger got what he deserved! Then we of course must talk of that memorable long farewell between Hannibal and Will Dancy as the bromance seemingly is over and Hannibal is captured. What an episode! Will you surrender?!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 7 Digestivo - Synopsis

Captured in Italy by bought members of the Florentine police, Hannibal and Will are brought to Muskrat Farm on the Verger Estate in Maryland, where Mason Verger awaits to implement his vile and disturbing plan for revenge. Mason’s plan, executed by Cordell, is to eat, no devour, Hannibal whilst wearing the transplanted face of Will Graham. However, back in Florence Jack Crawford escapes his murder from the police aided by the dead-shot of Chiyoh and makes his way back to America. Meanwhile, as Mason is put under anesthesia for the facial treatment, little does he know that Alana and Margot have set Hannibal free on his promise to them both that that he will keep Will alive and that he will take the blame when Margot kills her brother (for therapeutic reasons…of course!). As Will and Hannibal escape their potential fate at the Verger Estate a horrific truth is revealed to Mason, he has been played, cattle-prod prostate-stimulated, harvested (of his sperm) and now must succumb to the justifiable wrath of his sister…Margot for all his previous mistreatment and abuse of her. As Hannibal and Will arrive at Will’s home in Wolf Trap, Virginia with the help of Chiyoh, Crawford arrives to confront and deal with Hannibal for one final time.

We discuss the unfortunate and brutal ending for Inspector Pazzi who follows in the ancestral footsteps of Francesco de Pazzi as he quite literally spills his innards to Hannibal. We discuss international bounty hunting a la Boba Fett as Mason Verger’s net is cast wider in his attempt to track down Hannibal and gain his revenge. We also travel back in time as Chiyoh and Will Graham take the scenic route to Italy from Lecter Dvaras in Lithuania and scream at the telly “Look behind you!!” as Will is given an unexpected push from an unexpected source. Man overboard!!

Hannibal Season 3 Episode 5 Contorno – Synopsis

As Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Chiyoh (Tao Okamoto) make the long long journey from Lithuania to Florence by steam train, they discuss her relationship with Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) but all is not what it seems with Chiyoh as she delivers an unexpected twist to their so-called alliance and a push for Will. Jack (Laurence Fishburne) also makes his way to Florence but for other motives. Whilst he releases his wife’s ashes into the river Arno where they first met, he also meets with Inspector Pazzi (Fortunato Cerlino) to consult with him on Hannibal. He also leaves him with a warning as he tells him that Hannibal already knows he’s being investigated! As Pazzi goes to investigate Lecter, probing for information about the two murdered professors, he ultimately decides to sell Lecter to Mason Verger (Joe Anderson); a fact that brings Inspector Pazzi face-to-face with his gruesome ancestral past courtesy of Hannibal. As Pazzi hangs disemboweled Crawford arrives at the scene, where a bitter fight ensues between him and Hannibal leading to an unexpected turn of events!
