    Two Accused Murderers: Joseph Dexter Taylor, Dan Rodimer Apr 01, 2026

    Joseph Dexter Taylor, 52, is charged with murdering 33-year-old Chris Kidwell after burned human remains believed to be Kidwell were found on Taylor’s rural California property, with investigators alleging the victim was shot before the body was burned. Taylor had already been facing felony arson and firearm charges before this case, and prosecutors say witness statements about him discussing a “cremation” and showing burn injuries could become key evidence at trial.

    Kelsey Fitzsimmons Trial Day Four - The Closings and The Verdict Mar 27, 2026

    Day four concluded with closing arguments, where defense attorney Timothy Bradl argued that Kelsey Fitzsimmons was in the middle of a suicide attempt, while prosecutor James Gubitose argued the firearm evidence proved she intentionally pointed the gun at Patrick Noonan. Judge Jeffrey T. Karp found Fitzsimmons not guilty, ruling that the Commonwealth had not proven beyond a reasonable doubt that she intentionally assaulted Noonan. In delivering the verdict, Karp said the evidence left too much uncertainty about whether the gun was aimed at police or at Kelsey herself, making reasonable doubt decisive.

    Kelsey Fitzsimmons Trial Day Three - Kelsey Testifies Mar 27, 2026

    Day three shifted sharply into the defense case: after the Commonwealth finished with David Strong, the defense called Lauren Page, who described hearing officer commands and gunshots from downstairs, followed by neighbor Maureen Toorisi, who testified about a later conversation in which Patrick Noonan described the shooting and allegedly referred to Kelsey as a “whackjob.”


    The most important testimony came when Kelsey herself took the stand and told Judge Jeffrey T. Karp that after being handed the restraining order and told her son would leave with Justin Aylaian, she decided within seconds to kill herself, intentionally lied about where her guns were, and grabbed the handgun upstairs because she believed she had “just lost everything.”


    She testified that the gun went only to her own temple, that it clicked when she pulled the trigger, and that Noonan shot her before she could process anything further — directly matching the defense theory that this was a suicide attempt, not an assault on police.

    Day two centered on continued testimony from Patrick Noonan, who clarified under cross-examination that his first shot missed and his second shot struck Kelsey in the torso after he believed she had chambered a round and posed an immediate threat. The Commonwealth then shifted into technical firearm evidence through Steven Corr and Michael Bonasoro, using the gun itself to support the claim that officers’ description of a trigger click and chambered round was mechanically consistent. Family and civilian witnesses also added context around that morning, but the overall focus of day two was building the prosecution’s physical evidence around the handgun rather than emotional narrative.
