The Murder of Martha Puebla Jun 10, 2021

Martha Puebla was 16 years old when she became a victim of gang violence, gunned down while sitting outside her house chatting with friends. The suspect was obvious - Jose Ledesme and Mario Catalan had been arrested for another murder and told that Martha had identified them as the shooter. But instead of going after Jose and Mario, investigators arrest Mario's little brother, Juan Catalan, for the murder of Martha Puebla. Proving his innocence would require a wild goose chase involving the Dodgers, HBO, Larry David, and an enormous amount of luck.

The Fraud of Fyre Fest Jun 03, 2021

Back in Spring of 2017, Fyre Fest was going to be the experience of a lifetime. A luxury music festival in an idyllic tropical setting on a private island in the Bahamas. Festival-goers were promised a real-life island fantasy with luxury accommodations, gourmet food and the chance to party with rappers and models. People paid hundreds to hundreds of thousands for their tickets and accommodations for Fyre Fest, expecting a weekend living in the lap of luxury.

What they got was something slightly less than that. The luxury villas they were promised turned out to be FEMA disaster relief tents. The local seafood, Bahamian style sushi, and pig roast they were promised turned out to be… you know it - cheese sandwiches in a styrofoam container. Mostly rich millennials with job titles like influencer were suddenly resorting to Lord of the Flies level anarchy just to make sure their most basic needs were met.

And it all started when Billy McFarland met rapper Ja Rule...

The Murder of Peter Falconio May 27, 2021

In 2001, British tourist Peter Falconio disappeared while traveling with his girlfriend, Joanne Lees, through the remote Australian Outback. Joanne was found with her wrists tied, duct tape around her neck, and blood on her shirt. Her story was bizarre and didn’t seem to fit the physical evidence, and the questions in the case would continue to pile up...

The Murder of Angela Samota May 20, 2021

This week, Kristin tells Mogab about the murder of Angela Samota. Angela was a 20 year old college student in Dallas, Texas when she called her boyfriend, Ben, in the middle of the night sounding really odd. She said there was a man in her apartment asking to use the bathroom and her phone, and she asked Ben to keep talking to her. When she suddenly hung up, Ben was worried and drove over to her apartment. There, she was found on her bed, stabbed to death. It would take 20 years and a best friend who never gave up on finding Angela's killer for this case to finally be solved.

This week, Kristin tells Mogab all about Angela Diaz. She was an attorney and a survivor of cervical cancer who had finally found love in Ian Diaz. They were married within a month of meeting each other, and a few months after that Angela became pregnant with twins! Everything was going great for the new couple, until someone started a major harassment campaign against Angela. She started receiving threatening emails, and someone started posting ads on Craigslist, posing as Angela and asking men to make her rape fantasies come true. It became clear that the longer this person continued, the more danger Angela was in. But she knew exactly who was posting the ads and sending the emails....

Beyond Serial:The Case Against Adnan Syed May 06, 2021

We have a special episode for you today! You might call it a passion project. It’s Kristin’s birthday week and for her birthday, she decided this episode was going to be her genie wish case - you know, the one case you would spend a genie wish on to find out exactly what happened.

We all know the case - it’s been covered extensively in podcasts like Serial, HBO documentaries, books, blogs, etc - January 13, 1999, High school student Hae Min Lee was murdered. Her body was found almost a month later, half buried in Leakin Park in Baltimore. Her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, is serving a life sentence for her murder, but we all have QUESTIONS.

This won’t be a total recap of Serial. Instead, Kristin takes Mogab BEYOND Serial, diving into everything Serial left out or didn’t uncover. Let’s get into it!

Then, Kristin tells Mogab about Kesha's court situation against her producer, Dr. Luke. Just after Kesha signed a 6 year record deal with Dr. Luke's label, he (allegedly) raped her. Kesha has done everything possible to get out of this contract with her abuser, but the system continues to fail her. You will not listen to 'Praying' the same again.

FRAMED: Kelli Peters Apr 22, 2021

Kelli Peters was just out there living her best life, volunteering at her daughter's school while running a small business painting tie-dyed jeans, when a police officer came to the school to say he needed to speak to her. The officer told her that they'd gotten a call that she'd been driving at the school under the influence of drugs, and that she had drugs in her car parked at the school. Kelli was shocked. The worst thing she'd ever done in her life was that time she threw her company phone out the window after she'd quit. So she let the officer search her car, and low and behold - they find the drugs. "They're not mine!" Kelli insisted, like every other person in that situation.

But Kelly wasn't lying. It turns out, Kelli had an enemy.

All of Abraham Shakespeare's wildest dreams came true the day he realized he'd won $30 million dollars in the lottery. From dropping out of school in 7th grade to being incarcerated in a juvenile detention center for theft until he was 18, he hadn't had the easiest life. But now, this money would change everything. He wouldn't have to struggle anymore.

Unfortunately, that turned out not to be the case. People started popping up all over the place, whether they actually knew Abraham or not, asking him for money. He knew what it was like to struggle financially, and so he gave and gave and gave and gave. But it was exhausting. Until Dee Dee Moore showed up, saying she could help with all his problems. After all, she had a very helpful nature...
