Live service (or Games as a Service) titles shook the gaming community in a bit of a recent pile up of games ending support for their titles, with games like Marvel's Avengers, Knock Out City, Rumbleverse, and many more announcing end of service or outright being cancelled before hitting the digital storefronts. Is this indicative of a problem with the type of game, and should PlayStation, who have made it known they have a number of games as a service titles in development, be worried about this development? We share our thoughts on this, how AAA gaming could use a shake-up of more Dead Space and Resident Evil 8 length titles, Alan Wake 2 getting an update on development and how important Remedy sees the IP internally, PS Plus switching things up by removing the PS Plus Collection benefit that PS5 has offered since launch, how we'd rate the PS5, look back at some listener push-back on a recent topic, and get a glimpse into YOUR video game character power couples! Neil Druckmann recently stirred the pot when outlets covered that he said Naughty Dog's next game will be "structured more like a TV show", going as far as saying that he'd assembled a writers room for the project, before later clarifying that the quote was taken out of context and instead that he meant the game would just be made in a more collaborative way, but it spurred the question. How could writing with a writers room change the Naughty Dog games that so many people love for the better or worse? We share our thoughts on this, insiders claiming that Jim Ryan doesn't view Game Pass as competition, PlayStation and Xbox seeming to try and lean into regulators ignorance to the overall gaming business with their remarks against each other in the ongoing regulators fight, the DualSense Edge being a great extension of the DualSense saddled with slightly worse battery life, and how gamers need to be careful to not throw stones in glass houses when discussing their opinions.
