This week saw the game industry shake up with fallout from Redfall's weak reception, PlayStation shuttering a studio amidst a time of acquistions, and seeming confirmation of the long awaited return of a PlayStation Showcase. We share our thoughts on this, give our perspective on Phil Spencer's surprisingly candid interview with Kinda Funny's Xcast, revisit the long running Metal Gear Solid remake rumors that are stirring back up by looking at our want for the remake versus our expectation of what will come, share what we hope to see at the potential PlayStation Showcase later this month, and check in on what the rest of PlayStation's studios seem to be up to! Media Molecule Chase New Dream, Remote Play Handheld, & "Call of Duty Killer"? | Triangle Squared 302 Apr 12, 2023
    Show notes

In the still slow news time we find ourselves in, Media Molecule stirs up emotions by announcing that Dreams has reached end of support as they move on to a new project, Tom Henderson breaks silence on his "Sony Hardware" rumors entailing a handheld that is Remote Play focused, a key Halo figure leaves Microsoft leaving Chris to wonder the value of Sony approaching him should the need arise to re-visit the "Halo Killer" era by looking to create a "Call of Duty Killer" should the ABK deal go through. We share our thoughts on all this, Resident Evil 4's addition of microtransactions and whether we think it is a shady practice to do so AFTER the review period, State of Play coming with even more Final Fantasy 16 footage, if PSVR2 is actually "flopping" or if games media are being inflammatory, and detail our rediculous idea for a Triangle Squared game involving interdimensional travel, death by sexy, and a plot to foil the ongoing trophy competition in a bid to rule the world in the wildest Velvet's Corner yet. We share our thoughts on this, E3's attempt to return proving the end of the once invincible "biggest week in gaming", SEGA having some fun with the Sonic The Hedgehog IP by killing Sonic, and Konami investing to dive back deep into the world of AAA games development they abandoned nearly a decade ago, while discussing rising development costs and how that translates to infalted development schedules, how those development schedules might be impacting the "showcase" style showings we'd like to see at least once a year from publishers, ARK 2 delaying into next year, check in on the Metacritic Draft standings so far, and more! Baldur's Gate 3 Controversy, State of Play Recap, & Suicide Squad Thoughts | Triangle Squared Ep. 296 Mar 01, 2023
    Show notes

State of Play hit this week and brought with it updates on mostly known games, with Baldur's Gate 3 controversy due to it's unplanned exclusivity on PS5 due to Series S development issues, Resident 4 getting even more gameplay ahead of it's upcoming release, and finally a look at Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be offering gamers when it hits this May. We share our thoughts on all this, as well as get the community's input on how they see subscription services changing purchasing habits, EA hinting that there COULD be further remakes for Dead Space 2 and 3 with maybe a new game altogether, The Outer Worlds getting to grace PlayStation one last time with the next-gen version that is releasing soon, Elden Ring's first full fledged DLC "Shadow of the Erdtree" getting announced, why more games don't follow Mass Effect's lead in modern gaming, and what artists discography we'd use to fuel a game's score and story if we were given the keys to the kingdom!
