Chris Duffin - The Eagle And The Dragon #0104 Jan 29, 2020
    Show notes

Todays guest is someone who I've wanted to have on the podcast for some time. I heard him on a podcast a few years ago and he has an incredible story. Growing up homeless and catching rattlesnakes as a kid, going to finding wrestling and turning into an elite power lifter. All the while Chris excelled in his job which turned into a career in the Aerospace world. Chris Duffin is an incredibly intelligent person and has defied a lot of odds to end up where he is today.

He recently wrote a book called The Eagle And The Dragon and he dives more into details about how he grew up. We got to talk about his book on this podcast and also we were able to connect because he made a post about which podcast to be on next. A lot of people commented that he should be on this one, so thank you for that! It was amazing to sit down with Chris and get to talk about his life and where he is today.

    The Packing List - HOW 2 TUESDAY #80 Jan 28, 2020
    Show notes

Two is one and one is none. That is to say that when you are packing it is best to pack two (especially if it is something cheap). Because you can't always know what will happen and having a back up will keep you prepared. For something like contact solution or sunglasses, it can really ruin your trip to go without, so why not just pack extra?

For this episode I reflect on conversations with outdoor photographer Jason Stemple. Jason and I were talking on a recent shoot when this topic came up about how he packs. He is constantly on the road and he has photography equipment and fishing equipment he needs to be able to pack up quickly and effectively.

The 20 for 20 challenge is wrapping up with the end of January just around the corner and February kicks off the next #TRPFitnessChallenge. We will be doing pushups. This challenge is scalable from 1,000 to 3,000 to 10,000. The point of the challenges is to be building habits and we do that by doing something every single day. We've already knocked out 20 minutes a day for 20 days, so now we are making the challenge a little more difficult. Join the February Push-Up Club and by then end of it you can get a sticker or T-shirt!

Destiny - Where Your Character Leads You - PHYSICAL FRIDAY #43 Jan 17, 2020
    Show notes

There is an example of character becoming destiny - imagine two boats. They are maybe in a race or setting out from the same port, and they look like they are going in the same direction. But they are a couple degrees off, and over time the boats start to get further and further away until they are out of sight. After enough time the two boats will end up in very different places.

That is what this is about - the small changes that you make in your thoughts, words and habits will make huge differences in your character and your destiny.

Capt. Scott Brown - Hooked On Family #0102 Jan 15, 2020
    Show notes

I recently came across a video of a little kid casting under the mangroves and he catches a snapper while standing on a skiff. It reminded me of how I raised my kids and I reached out to Captain Scott Brown after watching this video of his son. I wanted to get him and his wife on the podcast, but it happened that his kids were also on the podcast. We talk about what it means to keep your kids outdoors and raise them in a wilderness environment.

    Anchor Retrieval - HOW 2 TUESDAY #78 Jan 14, 2020
    Show notes

Often when I'm filming Into The Blue I am sitting on the anchor and waiting for something to happen. During this time I will talk with people like Jason Stemple and Jake Perry. On the last trip we were talking about different things that we could talk about on the podcast. One of the things that I took with me was eliminating twists in the anchor line. Some people might not experience this because you are using a certain kind of anchor or you are in shallow water.

But one of the things that happens when you are offshore is you use an anchor retrieval ball. When you are set up with several hundred feet of anchor line it is very difficult to get right over the top of that anchor and just start pulling. You would just be pulling the anchor from the bottom up to the top and it would be a lot of work. So if you use an anchor retrieval ball, you can use the buoyancy of the ball to pull the anchor up.

If you are interested in checking it out you can find one HERE.
