Brady Trautman & Alex Blue - From SV Delos To 80 Degrees North Documentary Dec 11, 2020

Brady Trautman and Alex Blue of SV Delos fame were part of a team that just released an amazing documentary about their sailing trip around the island of Svalbard. Together with Brian Trautman and Karin, they teamed up with Andy Schell and Mia Karlsson on the SV Isbjorn to form an 8 person team for this adventure. Svalbard lies 600 miles north of Norway and part of the island is above 80 degrees north, or the Arctic Circle. Brady and Alex have some incredible stories from the trip about the wildlife, geology, ice and also trash from fishing gear, nets and general plastic coming from around the world. The adventure was incredible and it spawned the desire for more while asking the questions about how to responsibly visit a fragile area such as Svalbard. Improving Your Leg Strength For More Endurance On The Water Dec 04, 2020

Maintaining your fitness is a crucial part of making sure you have an enjoyable day out on the water. You may think that standing in a boat all day wouldn’t have much of an impact on your legs, but it actually does. With a boat constantly rolling back and forth, you are having to use the strength of your legs to stay balanced, and when you are doing this all day, it can really take more of a toll on your body than you think. I’ve put together a few exercises that you can do with simple things around your house to help better prepare you for a day out on the water. Kevin Pavlidis Is @Snakeaholic and he knows a little about snakes. In fact, he is a contracted snake hunter in the Everglades. While Kevin is trying to find snakes, the rest of us are trying to avoid them.

Who better to ask “How do we avoid snakes in the wild”?

We discuss the best way to deal with snakes when you encounter them while hunting, fishing, hiking or even in your backyard.

Many times, hunters and anglers happen across snakes and do not know the best way to handle the situation. Kevin discusses how all snakes in America are defensive to humans and see us as a predator, not prey. With this in mind, most of the time the best thing to do is to leave the snake alone. Kevin also discusses what you can do if the snake is in a place (like a duck blind) where leaving it alone is not an option. Be sure to tune into this episode to hear all of his great advice.

Kevin Pavlidis is employed by the FWC to capture invasive snakes and is also an alligator wrestler at the Everglades Holiday Park with the Gator Boys. He recently caught an 18 foot 9 inch python with Ryan Ausburn to set the new Florida Record. We talk about his journey to this wild career, as well as many details surrounding both alligators and pythons. I learn more about the invasive species issues surrounding southern Florida, mostly the Burmese Python. For Physical Friday this week, we take a look at where I do all of my workouts. Over the years (and with help from LOTS of people), I have built up what some people call “The Ultimate Home Gym” in my garage and yard. I have a solid group consisting of hundreds of people over the years that have donated and contributed to building this gym. We are all able to reap the benefits, and I am just lucky enough to have the space to keep it all. I would argue that this is a great alternative to a gym membership, and you can do this too in your own community. Follow along as I go through what we use every morning in my gym to ensure that we stay performing at the highest level.
