67: What It’s Like To Be a Technology & Start-Up Lawyer With Tom Knox, Morrison Foerster [Main T4C episode] Nov 14, 2018
    Show notes

Tom Knox is a Partner and Strategic Advisor at the law firm, Morrison Foerster, where he counsels clients on corporate, financing, technology transactions and sourcing matters, serving as a strategic advisor to companies in the technology, media, life sciences, transportation, manufacturing and government services sectors, and to investors in such companies. Today his career is the perfect bridge between his personal interests and his professional skills. As a technology lawyer in northern Virginia, Tom spends time supporting tech startups and planning their financial steps to success. In his senior year of college at Middlebury, Tom Knox knew he would embark on one of two paths: he would follow many others and take the timeless position of a lawyer, or he would break the mold by becoming a computer scientist and entering the then-budding world of Silicon Valley. Instead, Tom found a way to traverse both worlds. Unsurprisingly, Tom’s masterful balancing skills extend to his family life, where over the years he has juggled brokering deals at work with spending meaningful time with his four children. He may not be the flashy courtroom prosecutors we see on TV, or the jean-sporting Silicon Valley entrepreneur, but that’s because Tom has always marched to his own drummer. And so, in his own down-to-earth way that is at once supremely self-confident, modest and exceptionally talented -- Tom has carved out a niche and found his passion.

58: Stress Less, Accomplish More With Meditation With Emily Fletcher, Ziva Meditation [Main T4C Episode] Nov 01, 2018
    Show notes

Emily Fletcher is founder of Ziva and the creator of the Ziva Meditation Technique, which combines mindfulness, meditation and manifesting to promote high performance. A former musical theatre performer on Broadway, Emily came to the practice of meditation when she realized that she’d achieved her dream of acting on Broadway, and yet she was miserable. She was experiencing extremely high levels of stress, and they showed on her body: she kept getting sick and injured, making it hard to perform; she even started going gray at 26; and she had chronic insomnia. It wasn’t until she began meditating that she was able to stop the harrowing effects this career-induced stress had had on her body. And the practice had fast results. In the first night after trying meditation, Emily slept through the night for the first time in 18 months. Since that fateful turnaround in her life, she decided to dedicate herself to sharing the practice of meditation with as many people as possible. Ziva meditation was the first company to offer online meditation training. Today, Emily is a new mom and an extremely successful CEO who leveled up her life thanks to just 20 minutes of meditation twice a day. Her new book, Stress Less, Accomplish More, is about the Ziva technique and its potential power to change human consciousness. The book comes out in February and can be preordered here.
