Show notes

We have shirts available! Buy our original Tights and Fights logo shirt on Topatoco for the sale price of $14. And buy our brand new WrestleMania shirt to celebrate Ice Cream Christmas all year long.

Oh! It’s time to rock and roll on a brand new episode of Tights and Fights!

The weeks after WrestleMania are generally a time of hope for new improvements from WWE. And one of the things Hal and Danielle really want to see is a major refresh for the women’s tag team scene. They’ll break down what the problem is and how we’d fix it.

Plus, everyone has great memories from Jeff Hardy and hopes for the best for him. But with how many times he’s had to make a comeback, is it okay for him to still be performing in the ring?

The Main Event: Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus was a major part of the WWE in the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras. She survived some of the companies weirdest storylines to emerge as one of the companies best women's wrestlers of her time. And now she's back as a heel and is ready to feud with Becky Lynch.

Ep. 347: WWE’s future Endeavor Apr 15, 2023

Show notes

Endeavor, UFC’s parent company, is set to purchase WWE. We’ve now seen two RAWs and a Smackdown in the aftermath of the news. There was a lot to dislike and a lot that was encouraging.

Triple H has appeared on a couple of shows now and has revealed that the WWE Draft is coming back soon. We’ll speculate as to how this could be a benefit for his creative vision if he is indeed still the driver of content.

Plus, with Backlash in Puerto Rico on the horizon, we’ll analyze some of the feuds that we can look forward to from Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar, Iyo Sky vs. Bianca Belair and more.

The Main Event: What will the purchase of WWE mean for you?

We still don't totally know how far the ramifications of WWE being purchased will go. But the immediate consequence is that Vince McMahon is back as a member of the company board and, at least to some extent, creative.

The Three Count:

Julian put over the WrestleMania Night 2 press conference.

Lindsey put over Vince McMahon on Last Week Tonight.

Hal put over Cody Rhodes’ Chicken promo.

Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey Kelk.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 346: WrestleMania 39 Apr 08, 2023

Show notes

At long last, the event that every wrestling fan awaits all year: WrestleMania!

Sure there’s been a lot of news surrounding the purchase of WWE and the apparent return of Vince to creative. But in the spirit of getting the full context of the situation, we’re going to wait until next week to talk about that. For now, Ice Cream Christmas!

The weekend had tons of barn-burning matches from Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley and more. Tears were shed, quads were torn and great moments were had. There were a few stinkers in the bunch but there are still so many positives to appreciate. Frankly, we could use all the joy we can get right now!

The Three Count:

Danielle put over Konan’s speech inducting Rey Mysterio to the Hall of Fame

Lindsey put over Vanderpump rules and all the great shwag she scored at the WrestleMania superstore.

Hal put over Kevin Owens playing Peek-a-boo with Becky’s baby.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

In honor of the #MaxFunDrive, it’s Mike Eagle’s return to Tights and Fights!

A few years ago, Mike stepped away from watching WWE because he was fed up with Vince McMahon’s behind the scenes decision. Then he stepped away from AEW because he just couldn’t stand watching wrestling without a crowd. And now he’s back!

Ep. 344: The Career of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson w/ Mark Gagliardi Mar 24, 2023

Show notes

Mark Gagliardi from the podcast “We Got This! With Mark and Hal” joins us for this special crossover episode of Tights and Fights in honor of the #MaxFunDrive.

Mark is a lapsed wrestling fan who still has great memories of watching the product through the attitude era. Eventually there was a slight disconnect between him and all of his wrestling-loving friends: Could all of wrestling… be fake?

The Main Event:

He’s arguably the biggest star that the WWE has ever produced who was able to be known for anything other than wrestling. We’ll go through some of The Rock’s greatest hits, why he’s become successful as a movie star and whether we would benefit his cousins in the story of The Bloodline.

The Three Count:

Mark put over Austin Creed on We Got This

Lindsey put over her strange encounter with the Rock in LA.

Hal put over The Rock in the Rundown.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Lindsey Kelk and Mark Gagliardi.

We are officially in a bit of a holding pattern in wrestling these days– but we’ve still got some fun things to get through on a brand new episode of Tights and Fights!

Cody finally earned the praise of Lindsey with his promo and match against LA Knight (YEAH!) this week. And that love is almost enough to make us forget about the bizarre booking situation with Omos against Brock Lesnar and Charlotte’s antipathy for wrestling these days.

The Main Event: Your Guide to LA

If you’re arriving in Southern California soon for WrestleMania week, you probably want to know what else there is to see in and around the city. Worry not! We’ll tell you the best places to visit and eat at when you’re between wrestling shows.

Ep. 342: AEW Revolution + The Bloodline Mar 11, 2023

Show notes

Not to be forgotten as WrestleMania builds steam, AEW had its Revolution PPV this past weekend. Full of tons of great matches and new champions, it’s being called a “refresh” of the brand. We’ll explain how we hope the company adjusts in the future… and how the new version of ROH seems to have taken a number of our criticisms to heart.

Plus, with WrestleMania taking shape, we look ahead to who’s built up momentum for themselves including LA Knight, Asuka and more.

The Main Event: WrestleMania Nights 1 and 2

The Bloodline story is now so big that it cannot possibly be contained to a single night of WrestleMania. It looks like Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will reunite to beat the Usos for the tag titles while Cody Rhodes tries to finish his story against Roman Reigns.

The Three Count:

Lindsey put over Dom and Mami.

Julian put over Ethan Suplee (formerly Vader's son).

Hal put over Roman Reigns’ advice.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 341: WWE Studios Films Mar 04, 2023

Show notes

As we count down the last month before WrestleMania, WWE continues to throw a ton of curveballs our way. Sami and Kevin seem to have a date with the WWE tag team titles, but with how massive the Bloodline has loomed, we don’t know for sure how this could play out.

Speaking of tag titles, Becky Lynch and Lita have won the gold for the women’s division! But will they hold them going into Mania or will WWE decide that Ronda needs another accolade?

All of that… plus we’ll talk about the new feud that transcends company lines.

The Main Event: WWE Studio Films

This is the year that WrestleMania goes Hollywood. But WWE has tried to go Hollywood with their own production of movies for over 20 years now. There's a lot of flicks to get through here from The Chaperone, That's What I Am and The Marine series.

We watched the Marine 6 starring The Miz, Becky Lynch and Shawn Michaels! The special commentary track will be available exclusively for our beloved MaxFun Members soon. You can join their ranks as part of the MaxFun Drive later this month!

The Three Count:

Danielle put over Mercedes Mone taking her new title to The Mandelorian.

Lindsey put over Sami Zayn’s day of Elimination Chamber.

Hal put over Body Slam starring Rowdy Roddy Piper and other wrestlers .

We’ll talk all about the Elimination Chamber. It was a really fun card from beginning to end with a number of stars getting their moments to shine. Plus, we know more than ever who will have matches at WrestleMania!

The Main Event: Sami Zayn comes up short

Sami Zayn got a hero's welcome in his hometown of Montreal this past Saturday. Unfortunately, he came up short in his battle for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Let's discuss where all the major figures in this story are going as WrestleMania approaches. Oh and Tony Khan had a special announcement.
