A few hours ago, the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee announced that it’s leaving its policy rate unchanged for the time being. As expected. But there was a record number of dissents this time, as fears the Iran war will re-stoke inflation and compromise supply chains took center stage. This was also Jerome Powell’s last ride as Fed Chair. Next time, the Fed will under the new leadership of Kevin Warsh — who promises to take a very different approach to running the FMOC.To make sense of it all, Fed-watcher Axel Merk returned this afternoon for a livestream to offer his reaction.

How would history's most successful investors -- the Warren Buffets, the Benjamin Grahams, the Peter Lynches and the John Templetons -- investing in today's volatile markets. For starters, they didn't concern themselves much with what was happening in the short term.Instead, they focused on doing the following:1. Buy wonderful companies2. Led by outstanding managers3. Trading at fair valuation multiplesAnd then held onto them. Sometimes for decades.Today's guest, Pieter Slegers, has made it his career mission to understand and apply the core success principles and best practices of the world's greatest investors, and then help regular investors like you and me ride their coat-tails.His Substack Compounding Quality is currently the #5 highest-earning financial Substack in the world, and today we'll have the good fortune of hearing his synthesis of what makes a successful investor.

The freight industry has long been thought of the circulatory system of the economy. It's how the things bought & sold through commerce get from point A to point B in the real world. And when today's guest last appeared on this channel back in November, he warned that freight volumes had fallen dramatically due to tariff uncertainty and economic sluggishness. A recession in the economy of "real things" looked imminent.But...the situation now seems to be experiencing a sharp and welcome turnaround. Freight volumes are up. And US manufacturing is on course to enjoy one of the best markets in years. What's responsible for this happy development? How sustainable does it look to be? Could the ramifications of the war in Iran and the resulting oil price shock derail this recovery? To discuss, we're fortunate to welcome back to the program Craig Fuller of Freightwaves, a price reporting agency (PRA) focused on the global freight market and the leading provider of high-frequency data for the global supply chain.

The S&P 500’s recovery rally is now the fastest since 1982.While a "face-ripping" rally is what portfolio manager Lance Roberts had been expecting to happen, he advises investors not to chase it at this point. He thinks it more likely that a pull-back will happen soon, to higher lows, providing a better buy-in opportunity compared to today's prices. We discuss this, as well as his latest thoughts on the Iran war's potential to continue to influence asset prices from here, whether the reflation trade is back on, what's happening in private credit, as well as his firm's latest trades. For everything that mattered to markets this week, watch this video.
