Human Domestication: Its Pros And Cons For Today’s Humanity Jun 07, 2021
    Show notes

From artificial intelligence to genetically modified foods, cryptocurrency, and self-driving cars, humanity is at a point of burgeoning and exploding movement in different technologies. We live in these giant and concrete jungle landscapes with digital mediums that aim to improve the human condition. While that may extend our lifespans and make access to our basic needs easier, it brings the question of whether we, as humans, are losing touch with our wildness and connection to nature. In today’s show, Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen explore the concept of human domestication and its pros and cons at this point in time for humanity. They compare the physical and emotional aspects throughout and how they've changed based on our lifestyles, including the role of social media on our mental health, the increasing instances of gun violence, and the stimulation overload of our nervous system due to the dense, stressful, and urbanized environment. They also touch on the dichotomy between the emerging technology to make food more accessible and the growing movement to grow organic food, save seeds, and do food sharing. Join Jason and Whitney as they tackle all these and more in this deep dive into human domestication. Are we ultimately domesticating in a positive direction? Find out why it’s yes and no at the same time.

Wade explains how today's social hierarchy is drowning in many bad marketing practices in pursuit of easy wins, from the rampant false reward systems, digital tribalism, cancel culture, and digital drug dealers. How Societal Pressure Puts An Expiration Date To Success And What We Should Do About It Jun 02, 2021
    Show notes

We grew up in a society where we are defined by our age and what we accomplish at a certain time of our life. In this unique era of history, social media amplifies these societal pressures and expectations. Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen start a wonderful discussion about the different issues we face around racism, beauty culture, identity, and success. Jason and Whitney express their frustration towards these unrealistic expectations, the people-pleasing culture that makes us lose our sense of identity when we are pressured to be a certain type of person by a certain age. This makes us question if there is an expiration date to success and how it hampers our ability to be our self and enjoy the freedom to do what we want to do. It’s a tough reality to face but we need to work towards overcoming the pressure and not let it define what success is to us no matter what our age is, how we look like and what we do in life.

    Show notes

Working full-time gives a person financial stability, but to what extent? Jason Wrobel and Whitney Lauritsen discuss the issues of overworking, corporate jobs, and capitalism that create a dent in the life of the working-class society. Today, more and more people realize that corporations are taking advantage of them by asking them to put on more hours but are getting paid less than they should be. Capitalism is an ongoing issue for many years, and it has caused more than just people to lose their jobs, but their health as well. A study shows that clocking in more than 55 hours a week can cause serious health issues, but corporations are not doing anything.
