Episode 40: Mom Guilt: It's Time to Stop. You are Doing Enough Jun 12, 2020
    Show notes

I felt major mom guilt the other day when my son said he didn't know what he liked to do with mom. We were playing the "favorites" game and I asked my 6 year old what he loved to do with mom and he couldn't think of something. Now, I know he's 6 and I put him on the spot. But I felt this massive mom guilt because he didn't know right off the top of his head what OUR thing was. But I can't spiral in the guilt. It was a moment of humbling and recognizing what I might need to do better. I am sharing a bonus podcast episode with you this week about mom guilt. But I do not believe that guilt is always a good thing. In fact I think guilt is the silent killer to our joy in motherhood. Too blunt?? Take a listen to this episode as I get SUPER LEGIT with you about mom guilt. What it is and how I've dealt with it. I also give you 5 new thoughts you can give yourself instead of mom guilt. And most importantly, you really are doing ENOUGH. Haili Info: Want to make some new mom friends and have fun?! Rachel talks about why we as parents are so exhausted! She mentions that everything starts with us. We have to be in a good place and we have to do the work. She talks about the importance of setting boundaries to make time for ourselves and how important that time is so that we can show up as less exhausted parents because we set the energy in the home. She also gives you a little insight into how the unique situations of COVID-19 have made us extra exhausted and that we need to put more realistic expectations on ourselves during these crazy times.

Rachel Bailey is a Parenting Specialist who has been serving families for over a decade. Besides being a mother of two, she also has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, a certification in Positive Discipline, and has provided services as an ADHD Coach, in-home mentor, and therapist. Currently, Rachel teaches parents practical, longterm tools for raising responsible, resilient, confident children... while reducing the stress and guilt in parents' lives.

SPECIAL TIP FROM RACHEL: Best tip to give yourself a parenting win every day. Give your child 10 SECONDS in your day to look at them eye to eye and respond to what it is they are saying or asking.

Episode 37: Empowering Parents to Help Their Kids Cope with Medical Experiences with Child Life Specialist Kara Kimball May 20, 2020
    Show notes

With everything being different in our world right now, it's always nice to learn ways we can help our kids feel less scared with everything going on.

One way we can do that is through understanding how to explain, support and help our kids cope during medical experiences. In this episode I chat with Kara Kimball, certified Child Life Specialist, who gives some great tips on taking kids to the doctor, helping your kids through COVID and so much other great advice!

Kara reminds us, "Remember that the WHY is most important when talking about going to the doctor. Don't just tell them what is going to happen, but what it's going to do for your child to help them."

Kara, a Utah native, is a certified child life specialist with a BS in Family Life with an emphasis in Human Development. She worked at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in several different departments before moving to California and deciding to stay home with her three young children. Kara started Child Life Saver to empower parents to help their kids cope during medical experiences.

Episode 35: MINI SERIES PART 3 |STEM Activities with Your Kids with Alyson Peterson Owner of the Winkle Apr 17, 2020
    Show notes

You are listening to the last episode of a 3 part mini series to help support you during this unique time of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this episode, we chat with my friend Alyson Peterson who talks about STEM activities she does with her kids and her business the WINKLE which was inspired by one of her kids!

Alyson was born and raised in Arizona. She has 4 very creative and active kids. She has a background in teaching art and a bachelors of fine art degree.

I started the Winkle because I wanted to help moms make me be better prepared and able to teach their kids at home. From personal experience, my kids don't like reading instructions, so I knew I had to have video instructions. There's a lot of pressure to do things and make things with our kids that people see on Pinterest or Instagram. So I wanted to take all of those things and make them accessible to busy moms.

I'm offering a coupon right now that gives 10% off your order. GIVEME10. She also hosts live events on her FB group The Winkle Crate.

Episode 34: MINI SERIES PART 2 | Homeschool Tips for the Moms Who Don't Normally Homeschool with Erin Weist Apr 16, 2020
    Show notes

Are you still in shock that not just a mom dealing with kids home during a pandemic, but you are now their teacher too??

I asked my friend Erin Weist to come on because she has homeschooled her kids for 8 years and now most of her kids are in public school, well they were. Haha She talks about how what we are doing is nothing like homeschool or public school. Doing school at home right now in these circumstances just isn't the normal way to learn...and that's ok! Erin gives great tips and helps you see that you really are doing a good job so don't freak out! This episode will help you feel so much better about yourself!

Erin Weist is a native of Utah who is proud of her pioneer heritage and the stunning mountains in her home state. With a degree in English she took to digital work while living around the world, in both England and Malaysia, as she and her handsome husband grew their family to include 5 amazing kids. (Ask her sometime about delivering her daughter in a Malaysian hospital!) After homeschooling her kids for 8 years she wanted to spread her reach to working women and encourage their aspirations, so she created Aspire Her, a community for working women focused on creating networks, mentors, and valuable resources for working women at all stages.
