    The Weekly Scramble

The Weekly Scramble features Mike Frattallone and Chris Reuvers’ light hearted look at daily life in the State of Minnesota. Twice a week they bring their unique, common-sense conservatives approach to the current headlines. Mike gets a tutorial on The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways.

    Inside California’s Gay-Certification Program

The state is pressuring utilities to award $633 million in contracts to “LGBT” businesses.

The scheme operates through the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which regulates privately owned utility companies. California utilities spent more than $43 billion in 2024 on contractors—fuel suppliers, surveyors, engineers, and others—whose work helps deliver water, gas, electricity, and internet service to California’s 39 million residents.

In 1986, Governor George Deukmejian signed Assembly Bill 3678, which required certain CPUC-regulated utilities to submit annual “plans” for buying goods and services from woman- and minority-owned companies. Two years later, CPUC created its “Supplier Diversity Program,” which would enforce the law and set contracting “goals” for large utilities.

After hours of public comment and sometimes heated debate at the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board meeting on Wednesday, board members voted to begin decommissioning the Minnehaha off-leash recreation area.

All but one board member supported the decision, which is part of the Minnehaha Regional Park long-term plan.

The board heard from dozens of people, including many dog owners who said they have been using the park for more than 30 years.

Members of the Indigenous community argued the land is a sacred Dakota site with thousands of years of history.

“I got to the theater. It was Interstellar in IMAX. I said, ‘Oh I'm sorry I was so grumpy on the drive’”

BREAKING: Elon Musk has become the world's first trillionaire!!!! Jun 12, 2026
    Show notes

After SpaceX raised a record $75 billion in its IPO, Musk’s net worth shot up to top $1.1 trillion when the stock began trading Friday, putting him in an economic class of his own.

Combined with his holdings in electric vehicle maker Tesla, as well as other investments and assets, Musk's net worth is now estimated at about $1.1 trillion.

Musk's stake in the rocket and satellite company alone is now estimated at a staggering $690 billion, but it's also a life-changing moment for thousands of workers at the company who hold equity.

Investors who watched Musk help turn Tesla into an automotive giant are now betting he can do the same in space and artificial intelligence, as SpaceX launches the largest IPO in history.

What are we all going to do to celebrate the 250th anniversary for the 4th of July?????

The United States Semiquincentennial,[a] also called the Bisesquicentennial, the Sestercentennial, or the Quarter Millennium, will be the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Festivities will mark various events leading up to the Declaration's anniversary on the 250th Independence Day: July 4, 2026.

Official planning for the celebrations began in 2016 with the congressional, non-partisan United States Semiquincentennial Commission (America250). In 2025, federal resources were diverted to the Donald Trump-aligned White House Task Force on Celebrating America's 250th Birthday (Freedom250) to promote and plan new events. Celebrations began with the United States Army 250th Anniversary Parade on June 14, 2025,[1] with America250 events formally starting on July 3, 2025.

President Trump’s team pushes for new $250 bill with his face on it May 28, 2026

President Trump’s team pushes for new $250 bill with his face on it.

Key administration officials are pushing the Treasury Department’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 banknote with Trump’s image, the Washington Post reported.

Should the Treasury Department move ahead with the plan, it would mark the first time a living person’s face was slapped on a greenback since 1866.

The $250 note would be a nod to America’s 250th birthday this year.

Under the Thayer Amendment, which passed in 1866, it is illegal to put the likeness of a living person on official US currency, bonds, or other financial notes.

NEW: While Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made time to visit George Floyd Square to dance today, multiple people with direct knowledge of Fort Snelling’s Memorial Day program confirm he did not attend, despite appearing in the program to speak.

“We are supposed to honor our heroes, and he blows off the veterans? What a slap in the face,” one attendee said.

School graduation celebrations have gotten completely out of control!!

The founder of Feeding Our Future was sentenced to over 41 years (500 months) for her role in the sprawling fraud scheme on Thursday morning.

Aimee Bock, 45, was convicted on all counts following a more than six-week federal jury trial last year.

Prosecutors asked the judge to sentence Bock to 50 years in prison, while her attorney asked for either time served or a maximum of 37 months.

The former prosecution team, Joe Thompson, Harry Jacobs, Matthew Ebert and Daniel Bobier, attended the sentencing. Joining them were law enforcement who worked on the case, and even several jurors from the six-week trial.

Top federal officials on Thursday announced prosecutions against 15 defendants accused of defrauding government services.

Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald, the head of the Department of Justice’s Fraud Enforcement Division, said the charges brought this week targeted “shocking” schemes that reaped $90 million in taxpayer funds.

Blackstone to invest $5 billion in AI infrastructure venture with Google May 19, 2026
    Show notes

Blackstone, the world’s largest private owner of data centers, will invest $5 billion in equity capital in a new artificial intelligence infrastructure company with Google, the New York-based asset management firm announced Monday.

Google will supply the new U.S.-based company with its tensor processing units — chips purpose-built for processing artificial intelligence computations — bringing the first 500 megawatts of compute capacity online by 2027, with “plans to scale significantly over time,” Blackstone said in a statement.

“This new company has enormous potential as it helps to meet the unprecedented demand for compute,” Jon Gray, President and COO of Blackstone, said in the statement.

The unnamed company will be helmed by Benjamin Treynor Sloss, who most recently served as Google’s chief programs officer. A Google spokesperson declined to comment on whether Google would retain a direct leadership role in it.

The Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the joint venture before Blackstone’s official statement, said the private equity giant would hold a majority stake, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Blackstone did not disclose the venture’s ownership structure in its statement, and did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment by publication time.

The Journal also reported that the joint venture has already identified likely data center locations, some of which are under construction.

Blackstone, which manages more than $1.3 trillion in assets, has invested aggressively across the AI ecosystem and, earlier this month, established a similar venture with Anthropic.

Shares of Alphabet and Blackstone rose by about 1% in pre-market trading on Tuesday.

Final Walz fraud report rips ‘culture of tolerance’ as Minnesota taxpayers face billions in alleged losses

A comprehensive final report released Tuesday by the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee concluding its work for the current session takes aim at a "culture of tolerance" under Gov. Tim Walz that it says allowed serial fraudsters to fleece taxpayers for billions of dollars.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League postponed a playoff game Monday night “due to player safety concerns related to illness.”

The Minnesota Frost and the Montreal Victoire were supposed to play a decisive Game 5 Monday, but the game was postponed two hours before its scheduled start.
