The Lindsay Clancy trial is a significant turning point in the history of this country Sep 01, 2026
    Show notes

    • Jurors in Lindsay Clancy’s trial are continuing their deliberations after they informed the judge this morning they were unable to reach a unanimous decision. The judge sent them back to keep deliberating.

    • The Massachusetts mother is accused of murder after strangling her three young children. The jury could consider charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder or manslaughter.

    • Prosecutors have argued Clancy acted “intentionally, rationally, and swiftly” to kill her children. The defense, however, has argued Clancy should not be held criminally responsible because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. If the jury finds Clancy not criminally responsible for the killings of her children, she could spend the rest of her life in a hospital.

Bodycam footage shows 49ers owner Jed York’s trailer park arrest for prostitution Aug 27, 2026
    Show notes

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York looked stunned as police descended on his rental vehicle when he tried to meet up with a $160 prostitute in an Ohio trailer park — while still wearing his wedding ring, bodycam footage obtained by the California Post shows.

York, dressed in a Yankees T-shirt, basketball shorts and tennis shoes, was pulled over in his rental Volkswagen SUV in East Palestine by officers and quickly taken into custody without issue, according to the footage.

One of the cops later discovered two of York’s phones in the rental car’s center console, the footage shows. When police sent a test text to York from the number listed on the undercover ad that led him to the trailer park, one of the phones is seen lighting up with an apparent notification that featured the words “the nude girl.”

York was at the mobile park home after he had agreed to shell out $160 to a woman for sex after reaching out to her through the ad on a website known for prostitution, according to a Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force incident report.

Legendary singer, songwriter, and country music ICON Dolly Parton dies at the age of 80 Aug 25, 2026
    Show notes

Dolly Parton, the country singer, songwriter, entertainer and entrepreneur whose rags-to-riches story, outsize persona and prodigious vision and talent placed her in a class by herself, died on Tuesday in Nashville. She was 80.

The death was announced in a video posted on social media by her nephew, Bryan Seaver. No cause was provided. Concerns about Ms. Parton’s health, which began last year as she postponed and later canceled a Las Vegas residency, grew to the point that she took to social media last fall to confirm that “I ain’t dead yet.” In May, she said she had responded well to treatment after, as she put it, her immune and digestive systems “got all out of whack” in recent years.

Ms. Parton’s life, as depicted in autobiographical songs like “Coat of Many Colors” and “My Tennessee Mountain Home,” was the stuff of make-believe, from her hardscrabble beginnings in Appalachia to her glittering stardom in Nashville and beyond.

The writer Chet Flippo likened her to the Big Rock Candy Mountain, the Depression-era symbol of abundance personified by Ms. Parton’s voluptuous figure, rhinestone-studded stage costumes and blonde bouffant wigs. Her songs spoke to millions, confronting privation and loss even as they radiated possibility and hope.

Women in pink rally in support of Lindsay Clancy who is on trial for killing 3 children Aug 20, 2026
    Show notes

Hundreds of Lindsay Clancy supporters, many wearing pink clothing emblazoned with phrases such as “Believe,” “She Needed Help” and “Peace For Lindsay,” gathered Thursday outside the courthouse where she is on trial in the killings of her three children.

Several of the 300 women, and a few men, said Clancy’s story resonated with them and that they wanted to raise awareness about how the mental health system treats women. Clancy’s lawyer does not dispute that she killed the children, but says she should not be held criminally responsible because she was mentally ill.

The livestreamed trial has sparked massive discussions online and has brought attention to postpartum psychosis, a rare mental illness Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington says she had that is linked to the stress, sleep deprivation and hormonal changes that follow childbirth. Reddington said she also has bipolar disorder. After strangling her children, Clancy jumped from a second-story window and remains paralyzed from the waist down.

Ramsey County gang lawsuit: 6 members agree to skip Minnesota State Fair

On Wednesday, an agreement was reached between Ramsey County and some alleged members of the “Muddy” and “Ville” gangs in connection with a civil lawsuit seeking to prevent gang members from gathering at the Minnesota State Fair this year.

RELATED: Ramsey County files lawsuit seeking to keep rival gangs from gathering at Minnesota State Fair

Ramsey County Attorney John Choi and Attorney General Keith Ellison filed the civil lawsuit earlier this month, asking the court to prevent members of the two rival gangs from associating at the fair after law enforcement saw a post on social media by an alleged gang member promoting “The Biggest Battle of the Year” at the fair.

In court on Wednesday, six of the 10 listed members agreed not to attend the fair, according to court records.

Enes Kanter Freedom declares himself 2027 WNBA prospect, cites eligibility rules Aug 11, 2026
    Show notes

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom said Friday he is declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, saying he has examined the league’s eligibility rules and believes they make him eligible — a claim that is not supported by the WNBA’s published rules.

In a video posted to X, Mr. Freedom, wearing an orange WNBA-branded sweatshirt, said his team had “carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion.”

“Based on the current guidelines, I can and am officially declaring my eligibility for the upcoming WNBA draft in April 2027,” he said.

The WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement does not contain a self-identification standard. Article XIII, Section 1(a) of the 409-page agreement states only that “only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA,” and does not define “woman” or address gender identity anywhere in the document, according to an OutKick report. Neither the WNBA nor the players’ union has publicly clarified how eligibility would be determined for a transgender or self-identified player, the outlet reported.

Freedom, an 11-year NBA veteran and the third overall pick of the 2011 draft, said he was not trying to mock anyone.

“I am definitely not here to mock, make fun of, or disrespect any community or personal choices,” he said, adding that he wants the WNBA’s rules “applied equally, consistently, and without exception.”

The post is capitalizing on controversy surrounding remarks from Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who said in a July ESPN profile that she wants to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to compete against biological men, while maintaining she does not “hate trans” people. The remarks have prompted rallies and counter-rallies outside WNBA arenas, and Cunningham addressed the fallout again this week, telling a USA Network broadcast that she wants “love and respect” to remain even amid disagreement, while lamenting that the debate has overshadowed the basketball itself, according to an OutKick report.

The WNBA has a major marketing problem making Sophie Cunningham the villain in the trans movement Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

The WNBA has a major marketing problem making Sophie Cunningham the villain in the trans movement.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham sparked a major WNBA controversy by stating she believes transgender women and girls should be barred from female sports categories to protect biological females and fairness. Her remarks generated intense public debate, on-site fan rallies, and opposing demonstrations outside arenas.

The Remarks: Sophie Cunningham stated in a media profile published in July 2026 that her stance is focused on safety, fairness, and preserving opportunities for young girls rather than malice toward the transgender community. [1, 2]

Arena Protests: Consecutive Indiana Fever away games—including matchups in Portland and against the Minnesota Lynx—drew organized groups of both critics and supporters holding demonstrations outside and inside the venues. [1, 2]

League Responses: Figures across the league responded diversely, with Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve wearing a "Trans kids belong" shirt, while teammate Caitlin Clark emphasized that the team's primary focus remains strictly on basketball

The American public deserves better than what Dr. Anthony Fauci did yesterday in front of Congress Jul 30, 2026
    Show notes

Dr. Anthony Fauci will face a contempt of Congress vote next week

Dr. Anthony Fauci will face a contempt of Congress vote in a Senate committee next week after he invoked the Fifth Amendment in a hearing about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its origins.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul led the charge to have the now-retired infectious disease expert testify.

But Fauci declined to answer dozens of questions from senators.

"Any reasonable person who has followed his unhinged obsession with me would readily come to the same conclusion," said Fauci.

"Therefore, although it pains me to do so because of the respect I have for the legislative branch of government and my decades-long record of cooperating with Congress, under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions. Thank you."

Paul told CBS News he believes Fauci could be prosecuted for not answering questions during the hearing.

New York mayor Mamdani will open up 5 city owned grocery stores, this should end well............. Jul 28, 2026
    Show notes

Mamdani: Today, I am proud to announce a collection of essential staples that will be predictably 30% cheaper at all five of our city-run grocery stores. This core set of goods will include all fresh produce, meat, and seafood, along with 20 other essential items like cheese, milk, and bread.

Here's how it will work. Once a month, our five city-run grocery stores will set prices for this core set of goods at 30% below typical retail prices. No exceptions, no gimmicks. The savings will last for the entire month. That means no weekly fluctuations or sticker shock at the checkout line—not for our seniors living on fixed incomes, nor for the parents who rely on a regular supply of apple slices to keep toddler tantrums at bay.
