    The Weekly Scramble

The Weekly Scramble features Mike Frattallone and Chris Reuvers’ light hearted look at daily life in the State of Minnesota. Big demographic change in Japan: More diapers are being sold for the elderly than babies Sep 29, 2026
    Show notes

Adult diapers are outselling baby diapers in Japan, indicating a significant demographic shift. With birth rates at an all-time low and a rapidly aging population, one of the nation's largest diaper manufacturers is shifting its business model to meet changing demands.

With nearly 30% of the population over 65 and birth rates at historic lows, demand has shifted dramatically, indicating a larger societal challenge that Japan has yet to address. For the first time, the percentage of people over 80 exceeded 10% last year, as per a report by The BBC.

St. Paul police chief sues Mayor Her over claims of sexual harassment, retaliation Sep 24, 2026
    Show notes

St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry is suing Mayor Kaohly Her, alleging she repeatedly sexually harassed him and other members of the police department and retaliated against him when he came forward.

The lawsuit against Her and the city comes after an investigative summary report regarding Her’s conduct was released by the city and stated that she had acted inappropriately toward St. Paul Police Department employees but did not substantiate claims of sexual harassment.

In addition to outlining numerous instances of “inappropriate” comments, pranks and physical touching, the 73-page filing accuses the city of withholding the full sexual harassment investigative report, opting instead to release a summary of the findings.

    • Photoshopping the faces of Henry and other SPPD personnel onto the semi-nude bodies of bodybuilders and mixed martial arts fighters;
    • Surprising Henry and an SPPD sergeant at a golf simulator in Woodbury during their vacation time;
    • Referring to herself as a “MILF,” shorthand for “mother I’d like to [expletive]”; and
    • Inappropriately touching Henry’s thigh multiple times during a budget meeting.

The chief filed a sexual harassment claim against Her when he learned of the mayor’s comments toward other SPPD officers, including the infamous “Weiner Wednesday” text exchange, and an instance where Her allegedly asked a former deputy chief, “How do my boobs look?”

    • Patrick Clancy’s new wife recalled her loved ones’ “worried” reactions when she began dating the grieving ex-husband of a woman who was infamous for killing their three young children.

Rachel Danis, an infertility specialist who tied the knot with Patrick Clancy in April, opened up about their love story while sitting beside her husband during his first interview with “60 Minutes” after Lindsay Clancy’s triple murder trial ended with a hung jury earlier this month.

When asked by CBS correspondent Ross Douthat how Danis’ inner circle initially responded to the news of their relationship, she hesitated while replying: “Everyone paused – um, understandably so.”

Grandmother who wrongly spent months in jail after Fargo Police used AI facial recognition sues city Sep 17, 2026
    Show notes

A woman jailed for nearly six months for a crime she says she could not have committed is now suing the city of Fargo for $10 million.

The Tennessee grandmother Angela Lipps was arrested last summer after Fargo police used AI facial recognition technology to connect her to bank thefts.

Her lawsuit claims a detective relied only on that AI technology, even though Lipps has never even been to North Dakota. Charges were eventually dropped after her attorney provided bank records showing she was in Tennessee at the time of those thefts.

Lipps says she lost her home and car while she was in jail for something she didn't do and was denied basic care while she was behind bars.

Fargo's former police chief previously acknowledged mistakes in the investigation. The department later required more AI training and changed its facial recognition rules.

The city of Fargo has not responded to the lawsuit.

BEST OF: The American public deserves better than what Dr. Anthony Fauci did yesterday in front of Congress Sep 10, 2026

Dr. Anthony Fauci will face a contempt of Congress vote next week

Dr. Anthony Fauci will face a contempt of Congress vote in a Senate committee next week after he invoked the Fifth Amendment in a hearing about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and its origins.

Kentucky Senator Rand Paul led the charge to have the now-retired infectious disease expert testify.

But Fauci declined to answer dozens of questions from senators.

"Any reasonable person who has followed his unhinged obsession with me would readily come to the same conclusion," said Fauci.

"Therefore, although it pains me to do so because of the respect I have for the legislative branch of government and my decades-long record of cooperating with Congress, under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions. Thank you."

Paul told CBS News he believes Fauci could be prosecuted for not answering questions during the hearing.

Another mass shooting in Minneapolis by a man who should have been in jail, when is enough going to be enough?? Sep 03, 2026

Another mass shooting in Minneapolis by a man who should have been in jail, when is enough going to be enough??

Law enforcement says three people are dead after at least six people, including two police officers, were shot in downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon. A source confirmed that one of the dead, the suspect, died by suicide.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is now investigating the use-of-force by Minneapolis police officers, although the extent of that force is still unclear.

Some residents began returning to Loring Towers — all but the ninth floor has reopened so far — as cleanup continued Thursday. However, some residents can’t yet return due to damage from the shooting.

The shelter that had been helping residents since Wednesday evening has closed since the apartment reopened.

Lindsay Clancy jury deliberates a 6th day, one deadlock report away from a possible mistrial

A tense moment played out at the defense table in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial Thursday, as her attorney, Kevin Reddington, gestured with papers in his hand and then stepped over to speak with Clancy.

The scene came as the jury of nine women and three men continued to deliberate. Jurors have twice reported they were deadlocked, and the judge has urged them to keep working toward a verdict.

Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. She does not dispute killing them but says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
