    16: Muriel McKay Mar 10, 2019
    Show notes

On the 29th December 1969, Alick McKay returned home from work to his house in Wimbledon, London to discover that his wife was not at home. This was unusual as he was expecting her to be home and she hadn't mentioned that she was going out anywhere. The fire was on, the lights were on and the contents of her handbag were strewn all around the stairs. Alick phoned the police and as an executive at The Sun and News of the World newspapers he was able to get his wife's disappearance on the next day's front page. When she had still not returned he was worried and he received a phone call. The call came from a man saying "We are Mafia M3\. We are from America. We tried to get Rupert Murdoch's wife. We couldn't get her so we took yours instead. You have a million by Wednesday night or we will kill her."....

    Show notes

On the 4th December 1979, Teresa De Simone went out to a nightclub with her friend. She went back to her car but did not return home that evening. The next day her body was found on the back seat of her car; she had been murdered. An investigation began and police would interview around 30 000 people. They eventually arrested a man named Sean Hodgson who had confessed to the crime. He would spend 27 years in prison for the murder but in 2008 new evidence came to light which made everyone question what had really gone wrong in the investigation.

13: The Gorse Hall Murder Feb 17, 2019
    Show notes

On the 1st November 1909, George Harry Storrs was attacked and killed in his home at Gorse Hall in the town of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester. This had not been the first attack on his home and police intially found it difficult to find any suspects in the crime. George was a prominent and wealthy man in Stalybridge as he was involved in cotton industry; was his wealth a motive in his death or was it something else? This case would end up leading to two different trials but they would not end up as the police had hoped.

On the 10th December 1994, a 999 phone call reached emergency operators. The caller did not say anything but the operators were able to hear heavy breaths. They traced the address of the caller and sent officers out to the house. When they arrived they found the body of 33 year old Dr Michael Meenaghan; he had been shot. The question became who would want to kill such a friendly and good natured person?
