S03E02 - Meera Syal May 24, 2018

Show notes

Greetings Two Shot Podcast listener. Hope you're very well. This week we are joined by some real acting royalty in the form of Meera Syal. We sat down with Meera in the basement of Maison Bertaux (What! You've not been yet!? You definitely should very soon) and we talked about her childhood in Wolverhampton, sleeping in a draw, parental support, the dawn of proper British Asian comedy and loads and loads of other stuff.

You'll know Meera from her pioneering work alongside former TSP guest Sanjeev Bhaskar in television institutions Goodness, Gracious Me, and The Kumars at Number 42 or more recently in her brilliant role in The Split. She has a myriad of writing, authorship and acting credits to her name and the story of how she came to be where she is today is as spectacular as her artistic achievements.

She was an absolute pleasure to be with and her confidence and positivity are a complete inspiration. It's a wonderful listen and we really hope you enjoy. Dunno if you heard but we won a bloody prize. We are now the proud holders of a British Podcast Award in the 'Best Culture Podcast' category. Whilst the supportive messages we get on a daily basis from you, the dear listeners, are why we do what we do, it's always lovely to have your work recognised at a do where they give you champagne as you go in. Nice one to the BPAs for our "poddy" and a belter of a ceremony in London last weekend.

S03E01 - Dan Ryan May 17, 2018

Show notes

Eyup. It's that TSP time of the week again and in this insalment, we've had a pint and a chin-wag with actor Daniel Ryan. In the cool confines of Maison Bertaux's cellar, the conversation flowed freely, veering from Northern childhoods, to the changing nature of auditions, via coping with acting downtime. You might know Dan from his appearances in Mount Pleasant, Homefires, or Black Sea. Or from one of many stage appearnaces in such productions as Glengarry Glen Ross. Dan is a wonderful man; warm, kind and uninhibitedly honest. He's got a brilliant outlook on life and we hope you take seomthing valuable from this episode of ther podcast.Nice one for downloading and listening.

We were nominated for a prestigious British Podcast award last week in the 'Best Culture Podcast' category and we're very proud. It's now up to a panel of expert judges but there's another category that we could do with your help in: The 'Listeners' Choice Award'. Show notes

Happy Thursday Two Shot Podcast listeners. Thanks for tuning in to our 42nd episode. This instalment sees us sitting down with Lancashire actress Hannah Britland. We met Hannah on a Beautiful spring day down in the basement of Maison Bertaux (Again, sorry if there's any background noise putting you off. One day we'll be able to afford our own acoustically perfect podcasting studio... sponsors get in touch!?!?!) Hannah is an absolute ball of energy and her joi de vivre absolutely shines all over this episode. You might recognise Hannah from Misfits (where she first met Craig apparently), Skins, Fresh Meat and more recently Lovesick. She was a brilliant chatter and we're sure you'll enjoy listening. Thanks again for listening to and supporting the podcast. X

S02E19 - Matt Berry May 03, 2018

Show notes

Here we are again. THIS IS EPISODE 41 OF THE TWO SHOT PODCAST and this week we're thrilled to welcome... the man, the voice... THE MATT BERRY! Craig & Producer Griff travelled into London's Soho to meet Matt on the hottest day of the year so far (remember that? Was that our summer?) and popped to our favourite tea shop, Maison Bertaux (Greek street - you should go, it's ace!) and sat down, and more importantly cooled down, and then got down to it. It's a cracker of an episode with Matt and we discuss all sorts; growing up, music, albums, comedy, creativity, insomnia, and the London dungeons. You're gonna love it.

You'll know Matt from his extensive work on shows like Snuffbox, The I.T. Crowd, Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh and of course, the brilliant Toast of London. Sit back. relax. and let the smooth tones of this episode wash over you. YES!! P.S. Sorry about the background noise in this episode. As it was such a lovely day, all the windows and doors were opened out onto the bustling streets of Soho and the chatter and ambience spilled. Just think of it as a bit of audio set-dressing. Nice one. (Producer Griff)

S02E18 - Karen Bryson MBE Apr 26, 2018

Show notes

Happy Thursday Two Shot Podcast listeners. Thanks for downloading and listening. This week we were in the esteemed company of actress Karen Bryson. We met Karen down at Maison Bertaux on the our annual British sunny day (as you may be able to tell from the massively overlit picture that accompanies this edition).

Karen is a fantastic woman, she speaks with vigour and passion on every single one of the many subjects we touched upon. You may know her from Channel 4's Shameless or from the BBC's Cuffs where she starred alongside previous guests Shaun Dooley and Amanda Abbington, or from the Jed Mercurio series Bodies amongst many other things. It was a pleasure to be in her company for the hour or so we spent together and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.

S02E17 - Tim Plester Apr 19, 2018

Show notes

Greetings Two Shot Podcast listeners and welcome to another episode. The actor, writer and filmmaker Tim Plester is our guest this week. We met up with Tim in Soho (big shout out to Kevin Proctor again for the recording space) and chatted about national variants of the school yard cry of disbelief "chinny", wayward school days and morris dancing amongst a myriad of other things.

You may know Tim from his work in Game of Thrones, or from his documentary films The Way Of The Morris and The Ballad Of Shirley Collins. He's a brilliant talker and we're sure you'll enjoy listening in to this particularly free-flowing hour or so.
