Taylor Swift breaks the box office, SNL reveals new cast members, 'One Battle after Another' and MORE Oct 08, 2025
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

We start the show by breaking down Taylor Swift’s box office takeover. Her new concert film pulled in over $33 million this weekend—crushing The Rock’s Smashing Machine and proving, once again, that Swifties might just be single-handedly keeping theaters alive. But is this really the path to saving cinema, or is it a one-off Taylor phenomenon? This leads us into a larger discussion on whether event-style experiences—like Barbenheimer—are the only way to get people off the couch and back into theaters.

We pivot to Saturday Night Live’s season premiere and its five new cast members. Has Lorne Michaels officially hit the creative wall after 50 years? This leads us into a debate on whether SNL’s problem is the cast, the writing, or simply a show refusing to admit it’s run out of things to say.

Angelo then gives his take on 'One Battle After Another'. Does he agree that it is as much of a cinematic masterpiece as Jay thinks it is?

THEN: BRITISH CORNER: Rhea reviews season four Apple TV’s Slow Horses. Why does Rhea think the show is so "smooth" How does the pacing of the show contribute to her review?

Angelo follows up with his review of Netflix’s Black Rabbit, starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law. Then, in response to Jay's movie recommendation last week, Angelo recommends a old time movie to remember what real storytelling looks like. What makes that older film feel more human, more emotional, and—frankly—more watchable than a $150 million modern epic like ' One Battle After Another'.

We wrap up with one big question: Is Jay a cinematic visionary… or just a man who spent $15 to watch elephant poop on the big screen? Either way, tune in next week to find out who’s right—and whether SNL finally finds a punchline.

HBO's 'Task', Kimmel-Colbert simulcast, does screen size matter? and MORE Oct 01, 2025
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

We start the show by giving our thoughts on HBO’s ‘Task’. From the same creators of “Mayor of Kingstown’, how do feel it matches up against the long running HBO franchise? This leads us into a discussion as to whether we grade shows differently based on if we know the area it takes place in.

Kimmel and Colbert had a joint simulcast on each other shows the other night. This leads us into a discussion about the overwhelming uproar on Kimmel and Colbert‘s suspensions. From our conversation last episode, is the recent Jimmy Kimmel situation (and the outcry that occurred from it) a clear indication that the first amendment is here to stay due to the self policing by the American people? Likewise, whatever happened to the late night host hating each other? Do we miss this and, most importantly, do we want it back?

Despite filming not finished, Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, has already has begun selling out in IMAX theaters across the country. This leads us into a short discussion on whether the screen size affects our movie going experiences. Are movies being made today even worth seeing in bigger screens, such as IMAX? Our answers might surprise you.

THEN: British Corner. Rhea reviews the sixth season of ‘Unforgotten’ on Acorn. As one of her favorite British shows of all time, why did she wait until the whole season came out to review it? What does this have to say about how Acorn, and British shows as a whole, release their content? Why is this murder mystery, in particularly this season, so intriguing and such a must watch in Rhea’s eyes?

Angelo reviews Netflix’s 'Black Rabbit'. What about Jason Bateman‘s performance in this show makes it a must watch? He also give a cliff hanger for a British Rom- Com for Rhea to review next week.

Jay finishes up the show by giving us, what he believes, is the best movie of this decade. What movie is it and why must you go see it this weekend? How does the director play into this glowing review?

The state of the first amendment, Jimmy Kimmel returns, and MORE Sep 24, 2025
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

We start the show with a heartfelt message regarding the Jimmy Kimmel situation and the current state of the first amendment in our country. We dive more into the details of the situation, the first amendment as a whole, and give our thoughts and opinions on the situation.

We then get into Jimmy Kimmel's return itself. His opening monologue, statements, etc. Are we more impressed by what he DID NOT say than by what he did say? We then get into which prominent figures stood up on the issue and who didn't. Lastly, we answer the hardest question of them all. Where where do we go from here?

We then switch to a more lighthearted subject……BRITISH CORNER: Rhea reviews the dark mystery series ‘The Crow Girl’ on Acorn . What makes this show so “layered”? Angelo finishes the show with a recommendation of his own, the Netflix documentary ‘aka Charlie Sheen’. Will this documentary give you a different view of the controversial actor?

Emmys recap, Paramount might buy Warner Bros, and MORE Sep 17, 2025
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

We start by giving our thoughts on the Emmys. The ‘The Studio’ wins big on Sunday night. What made this show perform so well? As a show that highlights show business, is this an example of "navel gazing" or something more. Then….. Nate Bargatze did not prep for the big night. Do we agree with this? Do we think he was a good choice to be host?

What were our thoughts on the acceptance speeches at the Emmys? We break down everything from the timer to the role of politics in the speeches. Lastly, Noah Wyle was another big winner, closing a major gap from his last Emmy nomination from his time in E.R 26 years ago. With this nomination, Jay breaks down the top 5 list of actors with the widest gaps in Emmy history.

Paramount owners are considering purchasing Warner Brothers and HBO, combining the two entities. Do we think this is good for the industry? What could this new merger look like and what will it mean for its consumers?

THEN: British Corner. Rhea tells us why we should be watching the remastering of ‘The Inspector Lynley Mysteries’ on BritBox. What made her revisit this old time show after all these years? NEXT: Angelo reviews the second season of “Platonic” ( Apple TV), and “The Girlfriend" (Prime). Which one is he on the fence about and why?

Jay finishes the show by giving a nod to the new platform for famous TV critic, Alan Sepinwal.

    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

We criticize the lack of preparation by sports broadcasters, and compare past incidents like the 2013 Super Bowl blackout. What do businesses operate this way?

What is it about reboots that make them so popular? Are reboots an indication that the audience doesn't know what they want? Should we demand more?

We break down the current landscapes of TV critics. How much power do they really have today and which platforms do we trust the most?
