Who Was The Best Athlete to Ever Host SNL!? Sep 23, 2026

Show notes

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss the premier episode of SNL and the fact that Jalen Brunson will be hosting. Lorne Michaels has said that the best non-actors to host the show are usually athletes, because they know how to perform under pressure, but that doesn't pass the sniff test so far as Angelo is concerned. To his mind, there are only THREE athletes who were ever good on that show... can you make a guess as to which three?

THEN, Donald Trump has had a contentious relationship with the press and the gang discusses their own issues covering sports in a town that's fanatical about them, and how hard it is to maintain the integrity of the first amendment while dealing with players and owners who have issues about what you've said in the past.

ALL THAT PLUS: Slow Horses, OJ Simpson, the best show of the 21st century, and much MUCH more!

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea and Jay are BACK to discuss a lackluster Emmys that seemingly had only ONE breakout moment with John Mulaney’s hilarious introduction to the Best Actor in a Drama category. Ratings were down huge and the gang discusses whether the awards show is dead.

THEN: sideline reporters seem to have only one mandate: look good and find out next to ZERO information. Do they still have a place on TV? Did they ever?

All that PLUS: Primetime, British Corner, Tony, and much MUCH more!

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are BACK to discuss the new Betr commercial that stars Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier as characters that are exactly like Ari Gold and Vincent Chase who, for legal reasons, can't actually be called by those names. The creator of Entourage, Doug Ellin went onto Twitter to vent his frustration at characters that he created being used without his permission and the gang discusses the ethics of who owns TV characters 20-something years after their cultural moment.

THEN, our fans are MAD at us for disliking Coyote vs. Acme. Jay reads the email and then Angelo gives his verdict: was the movie good or not!?

All that PLUS Nathan Fielder's surprise new movie, a review of The Preacher's Wife, British corner, and much MUCH more!

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss a guy who they've all interacted with at various points: Howard Stern. Angelo and Rhea used to compete against him in the Philadelphia market, and Jay used to write for him. Now comes word that he's taking what's left of his Sirius/XM show and turning it into a TV show on HBOMax and the gang is split on whether this is a good idea.

THEN: Jay has seen Coyote vs. Acme and, uh... could David Zaslav have been right, actually? The man who loves everything found it to be a slog, and the gang discusses whether the rapturous reviews might be because of hate for Zaslav than they are love for the movie.

ALL THAT PLUS: British corner, Untold, the most consistent TV series of all time, and much MUCH more!

Angelo is BACK to join Rhea and Jay for a discussion about Dolly Parton's legacy and about how her rise to fame took place at a very particular place in TV history that could never be replicated today.

THEN, the gang discusses Coyote v. Acme, the new movie... from 2022, rescued from the clutches of podcast villain, David Zaslov. The question? When suits try to stifle creativity, do we, as a viewing audience, have a moral obligation to support the work of those creatives?

ALL THAT PLUS: British corner, a review of Lanterns, the controversial new ADHD documentary, and much MUCH more...

As promised in the episode: Dolly Parton on Johnny Carson

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Angelo is on assignment, so it’s only Jay and Rhea this week to discuss the new inductees to the TV Hall of Fame. But what’s MORE interesting is the people NOT in the Hall… Jerry Seinfeld, Tina Fey, and… DAVID LETTERMAN?! How is that POSSIBLE?!

THEN: Nielsen has revealed the top 20 most streamed shows of 2026 and, like, half of them are OLD SHOWS. Why are people uninterested in “Prestige TV” in favor of reruns of Friends?

ALL THAT PLUS: British Corner, more on Ted Lasso, the new Beatles biopic, and much MUCH more!

Wait, the Girl From Harry Potter is Doing WHAT?! Aug 12, 2026

Show notes

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to discuss a truly bizarre story. Jessie Cave played a significant role in the Harry Potter movies and she recently revealed that she made more money on an adult website in one year than she did in her entire time in the movies. She joined Drea DeMateo and Jamie Presley, both doing the same thing as her. The gang discusses whether this is empowerment or a sign that there’s less money in acting than we thought (or both!)

THEN: Ricky Gervais and Will Ferrell both have shows getting torn apart by the critics… do successful comedians eventually get too rich to be able to relate to their audiences?

ALL THAT PLUS: Ted Lasso, David Zaslov, Pan Am, and much MUCH more!

Spider-Man DEFEATS The Avengers!! Aug 05, 2026

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back to talk about Spider-Man’s absolutely earth-shattering box office and whether or not it deserves all that attention. Rhea has seen it and has a review!

Then: it’s the results of our “pick a show for the other two to watch” experiment and the results… aren’t pretty. In retrospect maybe Jay should have reconsidered his Rick and Morty choice!

All that PLUS: British corner, Hawai’i, Angelo strikes out, and much MUCH more!

Is Tom Holland a Movie Star?! Jul 29, 2026

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to make ALL of the money this weekend, just a few days removed from The Odyssey also making ALL of the money. Both movies star Tom Holland and Zendaya, but what’s amazing is that while the entire world is convinced Zendaya is a capital-M MOVIE STAR, the jury is still out on Tom Holland. The gang discusses why that might be and what it is that differentiates a good actor from a star.

THEN: LeBron James is coming to The Sixers, which inspires Angelo, Rhea, and Jay to discuss shows that had a character addition late in their run that sparked it to new heights.

ALL THAT PLUS: British corner, our favorite suggestions, a review of The Odyssey and much MUCH more!

Will IMAX save movies!? Jul 22, 2026

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Angelo, Rhea, and Jay are back, and this week they're leading with a number Hollywood can't stop staring at: Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey stormed to a $264 million worldwide opening, and it's the first movie in history shot ENTIRELY on IMAX cameras. IMAX posted a record $52 million opening weekend and grabbed nearly a quarter of the entire domestic box office — the third-best share ever, behind only Nolan's own Interstellar and Oppenheimer. Is all-IMAX the future of movies, or does the fact that it can't scale prove the exact opposite?

THEN: Off Angelo's Power Ballad review comes the debate that splits the room: Paul Rudd and Jason Bateman might be the same actor. Same lane, same dry everyman charm, same squeaky-clean off-screen reputation, with only a couple of exceptions each (Bateman went dark with Ozark, Rudd went blockbuster with Ant-Man). Two of the most bulletproof nice guys in the business — but who's actually had the better career? And who else lives in the "same character every single role" club?

ALL THAT PLUS: VPNs explained, British Corner, and much MUCH more!
