At Old Fashioned Lumber, we work with locally sourced reclaimed wood to create custom live edge furniture. We begin with the harvesting, milling and drying processes. Our team then designs and builds furniture and fixtures from these trees. Many of our building materials come from timber reclaimed from historic buildings and piers.

We hand make custom rustic furniture out of reclaimed and salvaged wood slabs. Our elegant, one-of-a-kind live edge wood slabs are created from upcycled high-quality lumber.

We specialize in crafting custom furniture and unique wood products. We take the time to carefully select each individual piece of wood for a personalized creation. Gifted to us by nature and refined here in the heart of San Diego, our products are sustainably sourced from throughout the United States.

Jon ran a student painting franchise while going to business school at Seattle Pacific University. During this time, he learned that providing quality work and operating in an environment of integrity earned him referrals and was a great way to grow a business. It also matched his personal values.

After spending a few years in Phoenix working in real estate, Jon came to San Diego and realized there was an opportunity for an environmentally friendly painting company. He founded PaintGreen in 2006. Even though PaintGreen has grown, Jon still manages the day-to-day operations and meets with customers for consultations.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys hiking, biking, backpacking, kayaking, motorcycle touring, disc golf, and creating art. In addition to running the day-to-day operations of PaintGreen, he is a co-founder and Executive Director of CoLab, a nonprofit makerspace that helps to develop local artists by providing free access to equipment such as 3D printers, woodworking tools, screen printing machines, CNC routers and more.

Our company also strives to be a leader in our fumigation industry. We have participated on every fumigation-related regulatory board or committee and have done so for decades. Our company has been regularly relied upon to conduct research projects for the manufacturers as well as studies and training for the state and federal regulatory communities. We regularly attend legislative functions in Washington, D.C., as well as Sacramento, and have worked on a myriad of issues with both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California’s two regulatory groups, The Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) and the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). Over the years, we have filled key leadership roles within both associations and continue to recognize the value of being engaged with both.

NARI’s roots go back to 1935 when President Roosevelt’s National Recovery Act established the beginnings of NERSICA (The North East Roofing, Siding and Insulation Contractors Association).

In 1956 President Eisenhower established Operation Home Improvement, a nationwide effort emphasizing the rehabilitation of existing housing rather than new construction. The National Home Improvement Council (N.H.I.C) emerged from this effort.

By the mid-1960s, NERSICA no longer reflected the membership of the growing industry and its name was changed to the National Remodelers Association (NRA).

In 1983, the National Remodelers Association and the National Home Improvement Council joined to establish the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). Today, NARI has 58 chapters nationwide and has enjoyed a sizeable growth period during the past decade. In 2000, NARI moved its national headquarters from Alexandria, Virginia, to Des Plaines, Illinois, and as the Voice of the Remodeling IndustryTM, continues to prosper.
