    A $1000 Box of Magic Cards – The TouchArcade Show #543 Oct 07, 2022
    Show notes

After internet issues foiled our recording last week, we are back with another episode of The TouchArcade Show, the world’s foremost mobile gaming podcast that rarely talks about mobile games. Well, that’s not totally true, since we talk A LOT about handheld gaming, which is a form of mobile gaming. See? We’re fine. This week we talk about the latest Onion OS update for Miyoo Mini; Eli gives us some updated thoughts on his Analogue Pocket now that development on it has opened up a ton; and of course we have plenty to say about the Steam Deck. Also we do dip into more mobile gaming-oriented stuff with some iOS controller discussion, and then we close out by overanalyzing (probably) the unsurprising demise of Google Stadia.

Don’t forget to shoot us emails with any questions, feedback, or anything else relevant or irrelevant to podcast@toucharcade.com. We read ’em all, and love decoding messages written entirely in emoji. As always, you can listen to us with the links below… And if you like what you hear, please subscribe and/or drop us a review in iTunes. Much appreciated!

As a companion to this audio podcast, we also do a video version of the same show that is exclusive to Patreon which allows you to see us playing the games we’re talking about. We’re Digging ‘Shovel Knight Dig’ – The TouchArcade Show #542 Sep 24, 2022
    Show notes

We spend the bulk of this week’s podcast talking about the new iPhone 14. Specifically, the iPhone 14 Pro Max which both Eli and myself picked up. The consensus seems to be: They’re great! They’re iPhones! We do lay down our hot takes on all the new features in this model though, including our thoughts on the always-on display, the Dynamic Island, the major camera improvements, and more. We then dip into some discussion on one of the biggest games to hit Apple Arcade yet in Shovel Knight Dig, which is stupidly awesome and available right now. My Apple Watch Ultra didn’t show up in time for recording, so we’ll talk about that next week!

Don’t forget to shoot us emails with any questions, feedback, or anything else relevant or irrelevant to podcast@toucharcade.com. We read ’em all, and love decoding messages written entirely in emoji. The iPhone 14 Pro Max Plus Ultra Dynamic Island Episode – The TouchArcade Show #541 Sep 17, 2022
    Show notes

After missing out on last week’s show due to some travel issues, we are back with a vengeance in this week’s episode of The TouchArcade Show! Ok, maybe not so much with a vengeance, but we’re definitely back with a whole lot of hot takes on all the new Apple products announced last week. Eli’s shiny new iPhone 14 Pro Max Holla Back Edition was delivered just prior to us recording, so we get some live unboxing action going. Then I spend way too much time explaining why I probably won’t use the new iPhone case I just bought, before launching into all the reasons I’m excited about the Apple Watch Ultra. Spoiler: NONE of them involve me doing any sort of physical activity. All this and PLENTY more in this exciting and very Apple Event-focused new episode.

A Podcast with an Ending – The TouchArcade Show #540 Sep 02, 2022
    Show notes

In this week’s episode of the podcast we lament TV shows (and movies and games) that go on for longer than they should, and we celebrate things actually having an end. We then switch gears to talk about the new Razer Kishi V2 controller for iOS devices and I spend a good amount of time comparing it to my most favorite mobile gaming controller the Backbone. The results may surprise you! Then Mikhail pops on the call with us to talk a bit about PC games and the Steam Deck before joining us for the rest of the show as we hit on all the big mobile gaming stories of the week.

We Can’t Give Up the Slinky – The TouchArcade Show #539 Aug 19, 2022
    Show notes

In this week’s episode of The TouchArcade Show I talk about my most recent run-in with a no-goodnick who tried to break into my house. Then Eli talks about his love affair with the recent PC release of Spider-Man Remastered and how fun it is to play on the Steam Deck. We then get a surprise visit from Mikhail who joins in on our Steam Deck discussion and sticks around until the end of the show. We then jump into mobile game discussion including the long-awaited release of fan-favorite Legends of IdleOn on iOS. We then close things out with some reader email and a quick show-and-tell from Mikhail.

Surprise Guest Extravaganza – The TouchArcade Show #538 Aug 13, 2022
    Show notes

Oh boy do we have a special treat for you this week. We recorded a few hours earlier than normal, and that aligned in a way that allowed Shaun Musgrave to join in all the way from Japan. Being the RPG aficionado and Spider-Man fanatic that he is, we dive right into talking about artificially inflated play time in RPGs as well as the new PC release of Insomniac’s Spider-Man Remastered. Of course we’ll be playing that one on the Steam Deck. We then hit on the big mobile gaming stories of the week, but right before we’re about to close things out… BAM! A second surprise guest joins the show. If you’re familiar with the bylines on TouchArcade you can probably guess who that person is.

    Paying 75 Percent Attention – The TouchArcade Show #537 Aug 06, 2022
    Show notes

After missing out on recording last week due to travel circumstances, we are back with a fresh episode of The TouchArcade Show! We kick things off with a bit about Eli’s trip to Chicago and the strange state of children’s programming on YouTube. Then we hop into some Steam Deck discussion, as we always do, and that leads into a bit of talk about the Miyoo Mini (as we always do) and the Analogue Pocket (as we always do). The back half of the show dives into the big mobile gaming stories of the past couple of weeks, including the rumor that the World of Warcraft mobile game has been cancelled. As always links to these stories are in the Show Notes below.

The Stray Cat Strut – The TouchArcade Show #536 Jul 23, 2022
    Show notes

In episode 536 of The TouchArcade Show we discuss Stray, the talk of the video game town this week, which Eli has been playing on his newly-repaired Steam Deck. Speaking of the Steam Deck, we also talk a lot about the Steam Deck and how much we love it. Imagine that. We get into some lengthy discussion about some of the bigger drama bombs of the week, including the Mini Metro cloning fiasco on Switch and the games that are set to leave Apple Arcade and what may become of them. We then finish things off with a healthy dose of spoiler-free Playdate discussion.

Hey, after a two week hiatus due to various circumstances, we’re back! We missed you! In this week’s episode we talk about Eli’s poor Steam Deck which has been sent back to Papa Gabe to be fixed, and the long, painful experience that the RMA process is. Then we talk a bit about the new version of Onion OS that dropped for the Miyoo Mini adding in some very welcome new features to our favorite tiny little retro handheld. We hit on the online discourse of the week before moving onto all the big mobile gaming stories of the past two weeks to make up for lost time. We finish things off by discussing the last batch of Playdate games that round out Season 1 and our thoughts on the season as a whole.

    Show notes

In another action-packed episode of The TouchArcade Show we talk some more about the Miyoo Mini since Eli’s FINALLY arrived from its journey from China. We then take a couple of reader emails which leads into some discussion about the big Steam Summer Sale happening right now. Can you resist deep discounts, even if it’s for a game you know you won’t get around to playing? Is buying games on sale the ACTUAL game itself? Following this deep discussion we hit on some mobile gaming news stories before offering up a double dose of Secret Playdate Chat to make up for last week.
