The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Week 3 All-22 Recap, Transactions, Tomlin Tuesday, Patrick Queen & More Sep 25, 2024
    Show notes

    September 25, 2024 -

Season 15, Episode 29 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about several transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers since their Week 3 game. There is a lot to go over when it comes to these moves with one, a practice squad signing, happening early in this episode.

We go over several injuries the team is dealing with right now and the impact that they could have come practice-squad elevations on Saturday afternoon. We briefly discuss the chances of the Steelers newest offensive lineman dressing for the Week 4 game and what the inactive list is shaping up to be for that contest as well.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday, so Alex and I make sure to recap all of the main talking points that came out of that session. We also talk about QB Justin Fields very likely starting again on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts and how Tomlin could soon be running out of time to dance around the QB1 questions he continues to get.

We go over the Steelers situation with Fields through three games and how he has earned the right to not have to worry about looking over his shoulder as he prepares for his fourth consecutive start on the road Sunday.

Now that Alex and I have gone through the All-22 tape from the Steelers' Week 3 home win against the Los Angeles Chargers, we give our thoughts on additional observations we both had when it comes to the offensive, defensive, and special teams play in that contest.

What can the Steelers do on offense to get their running game going earlier in games? We discuss that aspect a little during the middle of the show. Will the Steelers have rotation at the left guard position again in Week 4? We attempt to answer that question during this show.

We go over several individual plays and player performances as part of us recapping the All-22 tape. We spend extra time discussing the play of new Steelers ILB Patrick Queen, not only in Week 3, but for the start of the regular season as well.

Later in this show, Alex and I look at the Steelers 3-0 start and what history tells us about it when it comes to the team's playoff chances.

This 98-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners.

The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Chargers Game Recap, Inactives, Injuries, Listener Emails & More Sep 23, 2024
    Show notes

    September 23, 2024 -

Season 15, Episode 28 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers beating the Los Angeles Chargers at home on Sunday to move to 3-0 on the 2024 season.

Alex and I quickly go over the roster moves that transpired ahead of the Sunday game against the Chargers and how the pregame inactive list ultimately shook out. We discuss why rookie WR Roman Wilson did not ultimately make his NFL debut on Sunday as well.

Steelers rookie T Troy Fautanu is now on the Reserve/Injured list, so Alex and I discuss what happened with him since our Friday show and what the early speculated timeline for him to return seems to be.

The Steelers sustained a few injuries during their Sunday home win against the Chargers, so we make sure to recap all of those during this show as well.

After getting all of the housekeeping out the way early in this show, Alex and I get heavy into our breakdown of the Steelers 20-10 win over the Chargers. We start on the offensive side of the football for the Steelers and discuss the game plan, the play of QB Justin Fields, big and negative plays, the play of the offensive line, and much more. We talk about how Fields should now have the QB1 job moving forward and how it is his to lose, in our opinion. Extra observations about Fields are made by both of us and we make sure to talk about how experienced rookie C Zach Frazier looks just three games into his NFL career.

After thoroughly breaking down the offense, Alex and I move on to do the same with the defense. We go over how dominant that unit was once again on Sunday against the Chargers. We also discuss the game plan the Chargers had and how several players on the Los Angeles offense were knocked out of the game due to injuries and that includes QB Justin Herbert. Several individual performances of Steelers players are also discussed during this segment and that includes discussing the play of DL Cameron Heyward and OLB Nick Herbig.

We also talk about several other things related to special teams from the Sunday game against the Chargers and that includes talking about the punting of Corliss Waitman and CB James Pierre doing work as a gunner.

This 97-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners.

We also talk about TE Rodney Williams being signed off the team's practice squad a few days ago and what the Steelers Sunday inactive list is shaping up to look like.

On Thursday, we heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin. As usual, Alex and I recap the few main talking points top come out of those media sessions.

Alex and I welcome Daniel Popper of The Athletic to the show on Friday, and he helps us get started with a preview of the Steelers' home game against the Chargers.
