The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Cowboys Recap, Inactives, Injuries, Listener Emails & More Oct 07, 2024
    Show notes

    October 7, 2024 -

Season 15, Episode 35 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers losing to the Dallas Cowboys at home Sunday night to move to 3-2 on the 2024 season.

While the Steelers were just one play at the end of the Sunday night game from notching their fourth win, we wonder what the rest of the talk would have been on this Monday about the entire contest had they actually escaped with the victory.

Alex and I get right after it and get heavy into our breakdown of the Steelers' 20-17 home loss to the Cowboys. We start on the offensive side of the football for the Steelers and discuss their game plan, the play of QB Justin Fields, big and negative plays, the play of the offensive line, and much more. We talk about lack of explosive plays, the limited snap counts of WR George Pickens and what HC Mike Tomlin said about that after the game. We also talk about Fields being asked to explain the identity of the offense after the game.

Will the Steelers switch from Fields to QB Russell Wilson as the team's starter? We go over why we would listen to an argument for Wilson to start but wonder if anyone could really make a strong and compelling one based on several factors.

After thoroughly breaking down the offense, Alex and I move on to do the same with the defense. We go over how that unit really let the team down again against the Cowboys and specifically on third downs in weighty moments. We also talk about continued miscommunications on defense, the play of outside linebackers T.J. Watt and Nick Herbig, the three takeaways and much more on that side of the football.

We also talk about a few things related to special teams from the Sunday night game against the Cowboys and go over the pregame inactive list, the Saturday elevations from the practice squad, and the list of injured players coming out of the loss.

This 77-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners.

The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Vs. Cowboys, Injury Report, Coordinator Comments, Roman Wilson, Week 5 Picks & More Oct 04, 2024
    Show notes

    October 4, 2024 -

Season 15, Episode 34 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they continue to prepare for their Week 5 Sunday night home game against the Dallas Cowboys.

We go over the Steelers' Thursday injury report and how important Friday will be for a few players and that includes DT Larry Ogunjobi and QB Russell Wilson. We go over possible elevations from the team's practice squad on Saturday and what the early Sunday inactive list is looking like heading into Friday. We also discuss once again if Sunday night rookie WR Roman Wilson will finally make his NFL debut.

On Thursday, we once again heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin. As usual, Alex and I recap the few main talking points to come out of those media sessions. We discuss when QB Justin Fields might start getting more autonomy at the line of scrimmage and if CB Joey Porter Jr. will shadow Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb on Sunday night.

Why is everyone down on RB Najee Harris right now? We discuss that topic briefly and how Sunday night sets up to be a nice 2024 breakout game for him. We also go over the latest news concerning Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams when it comes to him potentially being traded soon.

Alex and I welcome Joseph Hoyt of DLLS Sports to the show on Friday, and he helps us get started with a preview of the Steelers' home game against the Cowboys. Hoyt has covered the Cowboys for quite some time and that means he has a great pulse on the team. We go over the Cowboys injury situation heading into Sunday night and what the Dallas plan of attack on both sides of the football should be. At the end of our talk with Joseph, he gives us his score prediction for the game between the Steelers and the Cowboys.

If not already doing so, make sure to follow Joseph on X/Twitter at @JoeJHoyt and make sure to read his work online here: https://alldlls.com/author/jhoyt/

After finishing with Joseph, Alex and I provide our own preview of the Steelers-Cowboys game. We break down what we are looking for out of both teams on both sides of the football.

Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for all of the Week 5 NFL games. We also give our score predictions for Steelers-Cowboys to end that segment.

This 111-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners.

    The Depot Dive - Episode 27 - October 3, 2024 Oct 04, 2024
    Show notes

Oct. 3 – Ep. 27: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and I start out by wrapping up the Steelers' Week 4 loss against the Indianapolis Colts. We discuss the several mistakes made by the Steelers and the fact that they nearly absorbed all of them to come back and win. We also talk about Najee Harris' rough performance and some of the postgame comments that were made. Could Week 5 be Fields' final audition to retain the starting job with Wilson being nearly healthy? We debate that and more.

We then go through the injury reports for both teams with the Steelers and Cowboys both having some key players set to be out. We discuss the offensive line of the Steelers and the constant shuffling that has occurred to start the season.

For the third topic, we preview Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys and offer up some of our matchups to watch before giving a score prediction.

We wrap up the show answering a listener questions about whether the Steelers are Super Bowl contenders.

The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Week 4 All-22 Recap, Transactions, Tomlin Tuesday, Davante Adams & More Oct 02, 2024
    Show notes

    October 2, 2024 -

Season 15, Episode 33 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the several transactions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers since their Week 4 game. There are a lot to go over when it comes to these moves and we break down what several of them might indicate.

We go over several injuries the team is dealing with right now as we await the Steelers first injury report of Week 5.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday, so Alex and I make sure to recap all of the main talking points that came out of that session. We go over what Tomlin said about QB Russell Wilson on Tuesday and what the initial practice plan for him this week appears to be.

Will and should Wilson be the backup quarterback on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys if he can practice fully at least twice this week? Alex and I make sure to discuss that topic during this show.

The Las Vegas Raiders appear set to trade WR Davante Adams as of Tuesday and with the Steelers potentially being a team looking to make a deal for him, Alex and I discuss all aspects of that topic. We go over the plausibility of the Steelers trading for Adams, what the compensation might need to be, and what an adjusted contract for the wide receiver might look like should the team ultimately acquire him.

Now that Alex and I have gone through the All-22 tape from the Steelers' Week 4 road loss against the Indianapolis Colts, we give our thoughts on additional observations we both had when it comes to the offensive, defensive, and special teams play in that contest.

We go over several individual plays and player performances as part of us recapping the All-22 tape. We spend extra time discussing the play of QB Justin Fields on offense, ILB Patrick Queen on defense. We also discuss the run attempts by RB Najee Harris and the blocking on those plays.

This 110-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted, and we close things by answering a few emails that we recently received from listeners.
