Homesteading is the New Counter Culture – 3187 Oct 20, 2022
    Show notes

Yesterday chatting with Mark Baker about Homesteading I was reminded of an episode I did back originally in July of 2013 called, The Bright Future of Homesteading in America which is now a bit over 9 years old. It was interesting to listen to what Mark had to say about homesteading and contrast that with some of the bullet points in the old show notes. Today I decided to simply take those bullets and present them in the context of 2022 and all that has happened in the past 9 years and especially the past 3. The world has changed … Continue reading →

    Show notes

Mark and Jill Baker, raise their animals on regenerative land management practices with good ole’ fashion sunshine and managed pastures. Community is at the heart of bakers green acres. Through the natural systems of the farm, we seek to build soil communities, a healthy environment for our family, and relationships in our greater community to provide great pasture-based food for those around us. Pasture, the product of sunshine and soil, is the basis of our meat production. Green grass, sunshine, and fresh air enable us to raise healthier, happier animals that result in the best tasting, highest quality meat possible. … Continue reading →

Updates for TSPC 2022 – Very Important Info if you are Attending Oct 19, 2022
    Show notes

So first the bad news. Billy Bond will be unable to attend and that means two presentation slots are now unfilled. While it is unfortunate that personal reasons are preventing Billy from coming there is something really great about those two open slots. We are going to fill them with hands on stuff! My original plan was to do a really basic chop and drop over view in the food forest which we likely would not have been able to complete and show you how to prep one bed for winter in our miyagi gardens. This was all going to … Continue reading →

Sacred 7 Mushroom Extract Powder – Item of the Day Oct 17, 2022
    Show notes

Note – While I explain Nurse Amy’s reasoning in adding this to their life it really isn’t why I have become a regular user. I figure my odds of getting a cytokine storm due to CoVid are about the same as being struck twice by lighting (especially since I have had Covid and it was no big deal). However, cancer is a real risk in our polluted world. If you read up on these mushrooms their anti cancer characteristics are well documented and at the cost per day this to me is insurance too cheap not to have. Of course … Continue reading →

    Show notes

Update – Dorothy informed me that she had already filled the position earlier in the day before I posted this. We are in need of one additional staff member for TSP Fall 22. This is a paid position and that means work not hanging out watching presentations. The staff still has a hell of a lot of fun, is involved in all the after hours fun, barter blanket etc. But it is a job. A Master Class in Statist Jiu Jitsu – Epi-3182 Oct 13, 2022
    Show notes

I have been throwing around this term, “statist jiu jitsu” for a long time, over a decade for sure but it has been a while since we have dug into it. A new potential rule about who is and is not a contractor, proposed by the Brandon Administration brought it back into my sights this week. Honestly this rule if enacted is so simple to circumvent (assuming both sides want to) it is amazing no one is pointing out how to do so, at all. I am going to do exactly that today. Then we will dig into some other … Continue reading →
