Quick Tip #35 Do It Alone Jun 09, 2021
    Show notes

"Should I go up for that promotion?"

"Is it time to move on and start all over?"

"Do you think moving across the country is a good idea?"

Sometimes when we're facing a huge, potentially life-changing decision, we have the tendency to want to check in with our people. I get it. It's totally natural to want to get some guidance from your loved ones when trying to figure out your next best steps. But sometimes, we are so quick to jump to hear what momma and 'nem think that we miss the opportunity to check within and hear our own thoughts.

Before we've let the newness of the idea settle in, we've already opened ourselves to other folks' opinions, interpretations and projections. And folks mean well, but sometimes their input can be the very thing that stops us from chasing our dreams.

What if we got into the habit of spending some time alone with our own thoughts before sharing them with the world? Maybe a weekend staycation at a cute boutique hotel to clear your mind? Or a solo date to the library so you can sit down and etch everything out in your favorite journal? In today's quick tip, we're talking about the power of doing it alone and being still. Not forever and always, but right as your approaching your big fork in the road. Getting advice is cool, but sometimes the answers show up in solitude and stillness.

Episode No. 119 What Are You Running From? Jun 06, 2021
    Show notes

I first noticed it way back in March. It started off small; at first, I was binging way more tv than usual. Then I slowly stopped journaling. Silence? I hated it! I needed noise ALL THE TIME! I became even more addicted to my phone and social media. Seriously my scroll game was on ten. I could feel my spirit asking me to be still and go within, but I refused. Instead, I chose to run, distract myself, and shut down. Why? Well, because I felt that a significant shift was rolling its way into my life. Those BIG questions kept popping up in my head. You know the ones:

    What's next?

    Are you happy?

    What happened to your dream?

Are you still on the right path?

    Is there more?

    Is this enough?

Yeah, those big babies! Now, usually, I am more than happy to do a deep dive into those soul-burning questions. I've always been super introspective. But this time? Not so much! I wasn't having any of it. I was trying my hardest to run away from myself because I knew deep down inside God was calling me to step out (yet again) of my very plush comfort zone.

Running long distances has never been my forte, honey. I got EXHAUSTED. So I surrendered. I finally silenced all the noise and came face to face with the very person I was trying to run away from, me.

And so I answered those questions, and basically, I'm at a point in my life where I know it's time to get uncomfortable again and get back aligned with my dreams and goals. And you know what happens when you step outta that comfort zone, right? Well, you might have to quit, pivot, or have tough conversations. Leaving the comfort zones invites challenges, sacrifices, and re-routing. Yep, I was trying my hardest to avoid the very things that are crucial to my growth and calling. So I'm not running anymore, and today I invite you to retire your running shoes too.

    Topics Discussed in today's episode:

    • How to determine if you're exhibiting avoidant behavior
    • Why avoidance feels like its helping and why its not
    • Getting down to the bottom of what and why you're avoiding
    • How to work up the courage to face yourself with grace
    • Tips for reconnecting with yourself

Quick Tip #34 Do Nothing Without Intention Apr 28, 2021
    Show notes

You've probably seen this phrase floating around on social media-- "Be intentional". When you see it, what does it mean to you? I know I used to be a little confused about it. Like, "be intentional about what exactly? 🤔" Well, the answer didn't come to me until a couple of years ago when I started to get the sinking feeling that I wasn't fully living my best life. I was more or less just existing. You know, just going with the motions and letting life happen to me instead of being an active participant in it. That's when I started living on purpose. I got clear about what I wanted and started doing the very deliberate work to make it happen. Now I know for a fact what being intentional is. It's thinking, moving, showing up, saying no, and saying yes all on purpose. When you move with intention, the more aligned you are with your goals, passions, and calling on your life. In today's #QuickTip, we're exploring how to be more intentional at work, at home, and in our relationships.

Episode No. 118 So You Wanna Purchase Your First Income Property With Kendra Barnes Apr 25, 2021
    Show notes

Have you been flirting around with the idea of buying an income property? Maybe a two-family flat or a small house that you can list on Airbnb for weekly rentals? Well, in today's episode, Kendra Barnes is showing us how it is done!
Kendra Barnes is a full-time Real Estate Investor and founder of The Key Resource. Her real estate investments afforded her the ability to retire from the 9-5 life at the age of 32. Yep! You read that right-- she got to chuck up the deuces to her government job at 32.
The gag? She started at the very bottom and worked her way up to the real estate top—no trust fund inheritance. No power realtor mentor to show her the ropes. She just rolled up her sleeves, saved some money, studied the industry, and did the work.
And guess what? She got good at it! So good, thousands of people started reaching out, asking if she could show them how to get in the real estate game. That's when she decided to share the real estate wealth and create her online academy, The Key Resource. The Key Resouce helps inspire, empower and educate people about the power of homeownership and Real Estate investment.

Quick Tip #32 Don't Give Your Followers Decision Fatigue Apr 14, 2021
    Show notes

If you're in the content creation game, there's a big chance that you have some links in your Instagram bio. Links to your newsletter, services, latest blog post, YouTube channel, Pinterest, and Disney+ login. I'm kidding about that Disney+ login info. Please don't share that! But it makes sense, right? Of course, you want your followers to click, like, subscribe and purchase every single thing you've worked so hard on. So you do just that; you list every link possible in your link in bio. But what if "link stuffing" is the very reason why your followers aren't taking action? That by the time they sift through every link you've ever created, they are tired af! More isn't always a good thing. More links can lead your followers to some major decision fatigue. And we don't want that because you wind up repelling the very people you're trying to serve and attract. In today's #QuickTip, we're chatting it up about how to scale back and prioritize which links get the prized "link in bio" position. It's a lot smaller than you think, but it helps your audience take bigger action in your business.

Episode No. 116 So You Wanna Be A Social Media Influencer with Michelle Thames Apr 11, 2021
    Show notes

What if I told you that you don't need millions of followers to start making good money as an influencer on social media? Don't believe it? When I was first starting out, I made $800 doing a paid brand sponsorship. The gag? I had less than 2,000 followers on Instagram at the time, and they paid me that much for one 300 word blog post and one Instagram post. Not too shabby, huh?

According to Influencer Marketing Hub, "influencer marketing is estimated to have grown to have a market size of $9.7 billion in 2020. This is expected to jump to $13.8 billion in 2021." That means that there are 13.8 billion chances for you to get a piece of this influencer money pie, and Michelle Thames is here to show you how!

Michelle Thames is a social media expert. Why? Well, because she's an influencer. In 2009 she started her blog and YouTube channel Happily Natural Ever and since then has partnered and made good money with brands like Olay, Toyota, Subway, True Value, and many more. She also has expert chops because she was the social media strategist for one of the fastest-growing natural hair brands on the scene. Michelle knows her stuff! And today, she's answering all your questions about growing your community, partnering with dream brands, and making mega-money doing it!
