    THE SNOWBOARD PROJECT

    PATHS • Javas Lehn • Episode 180

Paths is a new series from The Snowboard Project covering people who dedicate their recreational time to snowboarding - but have a 'real world' job.

Javas got his start as a rider - then pro for Gnu and Oakley. For most people, that would be career enough - but that wasn't even the beginning of Javas' path.

He went to design school and worked agency jobs for a number of years before moving to NYC. A job initially at MOMA led to him starting his own agency, JAVAS LEHN STUDIO (http://javaslehnstudio.com). Surface Magazine, Holden Outerwear and a number of 'art' books have led Javas to developing a minimalist design sensibility all his own.

This is a fascinating interview and path. Enjoy.

    PATHS • Ben Pruess • Episode 179

Paths is a new series from The Snowboard Project covering people who dedicate their recreational time to snowboarding - but have a 'real world' job.

Ben Pruess is a bad ass. He got his start in snowboarding as a pro rider before becoming the Rev team manager in the early 90s.

From there, things on the career track went a little bananas - launching Salomon Snowboards, running Bonfire, running Adidas Heritage - which he quickly transformed into Adidas Originals - yup he started that. A brief stint running and owning Holden before launching Under Armor's Sportswear division before becoming president of Tommy Hilfiger.

That's at least three multibillion dollar companies he has served as VP or better. He has come long way.

In the second half of the interview we have a conversation about the state of the economy, the impact of Corona and a lot more.

    PATHS • Nelson Woremstead • Episode 178

Paths is a new series from The Snowboard Project covering people who dedicate their recreational time to snowboarding - but have a 'real world' job.

Nelson Wormstead dreamed of becoming. a pro rider - then reality set in - other kids had more talent. So he set his sights on getting a job that could pay the bills. With a college degree in hand, Nelson proceeded to take a job in a unrelated field - as a sub-rep for Oakley.

One thing led to another and now, 15 years on, and Nelson is running the show for Oakley on the East Coast.

But there is more, much more. Nelson is also an announcer - for the Street Leaguer and has even found time to earn a MBA. Not bad for a guy who has a full time job - and plenty of side hustle.

Nelson is an inspiration - of seeing where following your dreams can take you.
