Kill Bill Week: Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004) Jul 31, 2022

Show notes

Kill Bill Vol. 2 Review from the Salty Nerds has them taking a look at the second part of Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece that crosses kung fu and cowboy westerns in a hodge-podge of awesomeness.

When we last left Uma Thurman, she'd just had an epic showdown in the House of the Blue Leaves, and now she only has three more names on her list - Bud, Elle, and BILL. We finally get to see a surprisingly sober David Carradine as Bill in Kill Bill Vol 2, along with an eyepatched Daryl Hannah and a surprisingly smooth Michael Madsen. This rip-roaring tale of revenge heads to a climax with the brutal training of Pai Mei coming in handy, as we finally get to see the five-finger exploding heart technique in action.

Among Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, the Kill Bill movies rank among some of Tarantino's best - some would even call these movies Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece!

What is your Kill Bill Vol. 2 review? Did you like it? Hate it? Would you ever hock a Hatori Hanzo sword? Are your tits filled with rock salt? Are you a renegade killer bee? Let us know in the comments over on our website!

Kill Bill Week: Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) Jul 27, 2022

Show notes

Kill Bill Vol. 1 review from the Salty Nerds has them talking about what could be considered filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece. Centered around a character created by Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman, Kill Bill is a tale of rip-roaring revenge as The Bride goes on a rampage against those who destroyed her life and left her for dead.
David Carradine plays the titular Bill, and his squad of brutal assassins are portrayed by Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Vivica A. Fox, and Lucy Liu. In the first installment of this epic tale, Tarantino delivers a fascinating and pulse-pounding tribute to samurai and kung-fu films he grew up on, all culminating in an epic climax in the House of the Blue Leaves in Japan.
This is a favorite of the Salty Nerds and is one of those movies that remind them why they do a movie review podcast. This film review of Kill Bill was a lot of fun - so much fun that they had to do a sketch for the start of it! If you like our film criticism and our movie reviews, be sure to subscribe to the podcast and leave us a 5-star rating!

Salty Nerd Reviews: Star Trek - Space Seed (S1E24) Jul 26, 2022

Show notes

Star Trek Space Seed review from the Salty Nerds has them geeking out over the introduction of one of Star Trek's most iconic villains - KHAN!
The former dictator who ruled over 1/3rd of the Earth is found in a derelict colony ship by the Enterprise, and he and his crew of "superior human" augments are rescued and welcomed by Captain Kirk and his crew. However, Khan Noonien Singh (played by Ricardo Montalban) wants to kick things off right in this new century by taking over the Enterprise and killing off its crew!
This is a classic episode of Star Trek the Original Series and the Salty Nerds are down for it! Not only is Khan one smooth operator, he has arguably the best chest ever to appear on the small screen. And then, of course, there's his huge comeback in Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan!
What do you think of Ricardo Montalban as Khan Noonien Singh? Do you love him? Hate him? Are you jealous of his chesticles? Let us know!

Movies About Porn Week: Zack & Miri Make A Porno (2008) Jul 22, 2022

Show notes

Zack and Miri Make A Porno movie review from the Salty Nerds has them loving writer/director Kevin Smith's take on two childhood friends making a porn film to capitalize on their viral internet fame in order to make enough money to pay off their electric bill.
Starring Seth Rogan and Elizabeth Banks, this film sees a lot of Kevin Smith regulars return, including Jeff Anderson, Justin Long, Brandon Routh, Craig Robinson, Tom Savini, and Jason Mewes. We even get appearances from cross-over adult actresses Katie Morgan and Traci Lords!
This is a film about love and how sex can destroy a friendship when things get complicated. In the Nerds' opinion, it's one of Kevin Smith's best films, even if it was a disappointment at the box office. Check out our movie review and let us know what you think! (And maybe even give us a Dutch Rudder while you're at it!)

Movies About Porn Week: The Girl Next Door (2004) Jul 20, 2022

Show notes

The Girl Next Door has the Salty Nerds debating over whether this is a brilliant coming of age movie, or a forgettable re-hash of Risky Business.
Starring the gorgeous Elisha Cuthbert and featuring early performances from Emile Hirsch, Timothy Olyphant, and The Riddler himself, Paul Dano, this film was originally supposed to be a remake of Tom Cruise's Risky Business, but somewhere along the way it was crossed with American Pie and ended up becoming about the adult industry.
Regardless of that, this is still a fun, sexy, and surprisingly heartwarming movie about first loves and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Salty Nerd Reviews: Star Trek - Arena (S1E18) Jul 19, 2022

Show notes

The Salty nerds take a look at Arena - the episode of Star Trek The Original Series where Kirk fights a very fashion-forward Gorn, all for the amusement of a psychotic race of superior beings called the Metrons. This episode of Star Trek the Original Series is one of the best, with plenty of zig-zagging, tactical rolls, and Kirk getting his shirt ripped. And who can forget that epic hand-to-hand battle between Kirk and the half-lizard Gorn captain? RAR!
If you are a Star Trek fan, don't miss out on this awesome retrospective review from the Salty Nerds! Movies About Porn Week: Orgazmo (1997) Jul 18, 2022

Show notes

Orgazmo has the Salty Nerds smacking their butts and calling for Stunt C**ks as they take on Trey Parker's tale of a Mormon who becomes a superhero within the porn industry.
From the creators of South Park, Orgazmo is an early offering from Trey Parker and Matt Stone that lampoons religion, comic books, AND the entertainment industry. When Joe Young needs money to marry his sweetheart, he agrees to star in a raunchy adult film about a superhero named Orgazmo for film producer Maxxx Orbison. Aided by his sidekick Choda Boy, Joe actually becomes the X-Rated superhero to fight crime the only way he knows how - by giving people orgasms!
Though this movie isn't great, it does age well and is highly quotable. It's funny in all the right ways, and even though it sports an NC-17 rating, there's very little nudity or sex in the film. (With the exception of some man-butt and a very obvious Mariachi ballsack.) It's also a Troma movie! How can you go wrong with that?
