Christianity
**The Remnant Radio’s Podcast**

The Remnant Radio educates and equips believers in God’s Word & Spirit, exploring Christian theology, church history, and the gifts of the Spirit in a manner that is engaging, relatable, and inspiring. Weekly, we bring together Christian influencers from various denominations to explore theology, church history, and the gifts of the Spirit. We don’t always agree with the views of our guests. And, we don’t expect that you will always agree, either. But we are brothers and sisters in Christ, and we agree to humbly approach God’s Word so we can better understand it together.

In each episode, we strive to offer constructive dialogue and healthy pushback without veering into argumentative or combative territory. Expect each Remnant Radio episode to be not only informative but also encouraging, entertaining, and, hopefully, inspiring. Our ultimate goal is to help every individual break out of their theological echo chamber and engage in the conversation.

God's wrath today: With Darren Hibbs May 28, 2020

Show notes

On September 9, 2001, Darren Hibbs had a dream that prophesied the tragedy that would happen two days later in NYC. He wrote about this encounter in a book, titled, “The Year of the Lord’s Favor.” In it he shares that experience, as well as subsequent ones that spell out specific messages he received. One of those subsequent messages spoke of a judgment that was coming to America.
In this episode, we will discuss Darren’s prophetic experiences, as well as the theological framework for understanding God’s judgments on the earth—from Old Testament prophets, to the destruction of Jerusalem, to the Book of Revelation. We will also discuss the role of the modern prophet, dreams, and visions, in communicating these messages in a godly way.

Amillennialism with Dr. Sam Storms May 17, 2020

Show notes

Amillennialism with Dr. Sam Storms
In this episode, Dr. Sam Storms discusses the Amillennial perspective of the end times. He begins by clarifying that “Amillennial” is a bit of a misnomer – since he does, in fact, believe in a Millennium. It just looks different than the “literalistic” view of Historic Premillennialism. On that note, he talks through the hermeneutic to employ when interpreting apocalyptic literature—how do we know when to understand things literally or figuratively? Dr. Storms responds to the major objections to Amillennialism, he explains in detail why he is not Premillennial, and he makes a biblical case for Amillennialism. All of this is couched in his own personal journey away from Premillennialism (which his seminary taught strongly) and toward Amillennialism. If you’re interested in the end times and want to understand the biblical teaching more, you won’t want to miss this episode. Even if you don’t agree with all of Dr. Storms’ points, you’ll certainly find that he goes to the Bible to support his beliefs.

What is Contemplative Prayer? May 16, 2020

Show notes

In this episode of Remnant Radio, Joshua Lewis and Michael Rowntree will talk to Matthew Esquivel about “contemplative prayer”. Matthew will explain contemplative prayer as understood by two spiritual heavyweights in church history; Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Using scripture and the guidance from Teresa and John, Matthew seeks to distinguish between the New Age views of contemplative prayer and the kind contemplative prayer within the Christain tradition. While tying this ancient practice into the “soaking" emphasis we see in the modern charismatic church. To do this, Matthew references the autobiography of Teresa and her first Spiritual Testimony while bringing in John’s teachings on the subject as they often complement one another. The guys will consider the practices of vocal prayer and silent prayer, looking at the different contemplatives understanding of each, while seeking to understand how we might find some balance between the two categories of prayer.
This episode will also discuss different types of "prayer" as taught by Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross. Such as the Prayer of recollection, the prayer of quiet, the prayer of rapture, And the prayer of union. As well as the different types of visions and locutions one may experience in these different types of prayer. Other topics touched on are on the role of visions, hearing God, and having supernatural encounters in one’s journey towards greater union with God.

Taking the Lord's name in vain: With Carmen Imes
In this empisode Carmen Imes comes on the show to explain Sinai, the ancient mountain where Israel met their God, and explains the meaning of events there. She argues that we've misunderstood the command about "taking the Lord's name in vain." Instead, Imes says that this command is about "bearing God's name," a theme that continues throughout the rest of Scripture. Its going to be a great episode yall.
