    #202 Seth Baird Dec 10, 2019
    Show notes

There are as many different running stories as there are runners, but Seth Baird’s path to the sport is more unusual than most. Up until three years ago Seth was working hard to pursue professional body building - the literal opposite of what he is doing now. After a serious injury, and a dalliance with performance enhancers, Seth picked up running and took to it like a fish in water. This fall Seth ran his first marathon, after setting PR’s at every distance in his lead-up, and clocked a 3:14 at Charlotte. In this episode, Seth talks about this running conversion, adapting to a new model of training his body, what the marathon feels like for a first-timer. Learn more about your ad choices. Show notes

In 2016, Carly Spataro was living a relatively sedentary lifestyle after years of playing soccer. By the end of 2017 she had run five marathons and improved her time from her debut 3:49 to 3:14. Needless to say, she was hooked. This last month Carly did the seemingly impossible for an amateur runner who works full-time as a pharmacist - she ran both the Chicago as NYC marathons (just three weeks apart) and did so in 2:55 and 3:05, respectively. In this episode Carly shares how she built herself into a successful and durable marathoner, how she came to love the sport, and how she stepped up her game in 2019. Learn more about your ad choices.
