So you have your beautiful photo all ready to post to instagram and now you just have to post it. But it needs a caption. Aughhhh. Why is this part SO hard?! But I am here to tell you it doesn't need to be! I am giving you 5 tried and true steps that I use every. single. time. I post to Instagram or anywhere else online.
1. Pretend you are sending this photo to your sister / bestie. How would you talk to them? If they said things like " how's the weather over there?", they probably wouldn't be your bestie on the account of being freaking boring. There are people on the other side of your post. Engage with them! Talk to them like you would another real life human.
2. Don's ask dumb questions. Asking questions like "What are you weekend plans" isn't going to stir anyone to respond. Nobody has time for that. You need to ask questions that cause an automatic response in someone where they can't help but say something.
3, Create a reaction in somebody. Think “Team Summer forever” vs “It’s lovely today” which one are you more likely to react to? Maybe you think heck yes gimme all the summer. Or you’re maybe more along the lines of “No Way! Fall and Pumpkin Spice forever!” but either way it automatically makes you agree or disagree rather than a passive oh good she likes the weather today.
4. Look at what you engage with. Where do you pause when scrolling through Instagram? Can you apply this to your own account in your own way? It might surprise you what’s catching your attention so pay attention.
5. Figure out your why and make sure you caption and photo fulfill that why. Because if you are taking time out of your day and your life to post to Instagram, make sure it’s not a waste of your time. If you can figure this out you will never have to worry about how the post does because it will always be worth your time.
Let me know if these tips are helpful! And feel free to share this episode with anyone that may also find it helpful. I freaking love you people. Thanks for being here.
