God is a gracious God. He also is patient and One who provides everything that people need to live enjoyable lives. He also is a God who is just and keeps His promises.

This is important to realize because it shows that God can be counted on to act the same, no matter what the situation.

Lesson 052 - Israel's Response To God's Law Dec 09, 2018

We have seen God's goodness to Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah and his family, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses. The children of Israel had all of this history to reflect upon to help them trust and thank a gracious God.

He had delivered them from bondage, delivered them, fed them and protected them. Let's see how they repaid God's kindness to them.

Lesson 051 – God Instructs Israel To Build A Tabernacle Dec 02, 2018

Last week’s lesson was a bit depressing. The requirements for approaching God were impossible to keep but because God is merciful and gracious, He provided a way for the people of Israel to come to Him admitting that they were sinners and also providing a way of escape from judgment.

The Ten Commandments were meant to show the Israelites that they could never approach God on their terms. He wanted them to realize that in order to please God, they had to come to Him on His terms alone.

This lesson will move us ahead in the story and show us the way God chose to have Israel approach Him. It will also reveal His holiness and mercy.

Lesson 050 - God Gives the Ten Commandments (8-10) Nov 25, 2018

In the first four commands, God lays out His requirements for the proper relationship with Him. They are absolute and final. There is to be no variation from His righteous demands. Our allegiance is to be only to Him and not to anything that He has created or anything that man or spirit has devised.

In the next three commands, God shows us what our relationships are to be to each other. We are to honor our parents, not murder or commit adultery. Not only are these commands to be obeyed in action but also from the heart. The penalty for violating these commands is death, eternal separation from God forever.

Now, let’s see what the last three commands are that God wants us to know about.

Lesson 049 - God Gives the Ten Commandments (5-7) Nov 18, 2018

Many times, when I write lessons, I am tempted to soften them because of the issues involved in the lessons. God would not be pleased or honored if it was too soft or too harsh. We need to speak the truth in love and share what God wants shared because He believes that they are important, not us.

I trust that in these three lessons, you will understand that I believe that they are important truths that we all need to know. They have been very convicting for me and I certainly do not point fingers at anyone without standing in front of a mirror pointing at the one standing there first.

I pray that the Lord will drive home His understanding of the passages to you as He does to me also.

The next few lessons are going to be pretty heavy. It is very important to understand the importance of the Law and its relevance to our lives. I trust that the Lord will open up our understanding and help us to grasp clearly the Lord's intentions concerning the Ten Commandments.

God's plans are not always what we would like but He will carry them out. It is good for us to remember this as we continue on through these lessons. God always knows what is best for us and if only we would listen to Him rather than doing things the hard way we would find true contentment and joy. I trust that you will see that God always wants us to believe and follow Him but if we choose to go our own way, then we will reap the rewards of our decision. I pray that you make the right decision.
