Lesson 063 - God's Angel Explains To Joseph How Jesus Will Be Born Feb 24, 2019

Show notes

What an amazing God He is. For four thousand years He has been promising that a Redeemer would be provided to take care of the penalty of man's sin. Now, He is on the verge of fulfilling that promise. So many had waited for this without ever having seen the promise fulfilled but now, He is showing that He is keeping His word.

I trust that you will think of previous lessons when going over this one. He is the faithful Creator who will always do what He says He will do

Lesson 062 - God Fulfills His Promise In the Birth of John Feb 17, 2019

Show notes

God has been a faithful God throughout history. Often we think of God’s faithfulness in terms of what good He can do for us but if you really look at what faithfulness means, it is that God always does what He says He will do, whether we like the results or not but we should always remember that God will never do anything that is not for our benefit. We want to talk about one of those benefits today.

Lesson 061 – God Foretells the Births of John and Jesus Feb 10, 2019

Show notes

Remember when we were little kids and we couldn't wait until Christmas when we could open our presents? Most of us were not waiting an entire year but we sure got excited once the Christmas tree when up. We wanted to know what we were getting so that we could enjoy it until the next Christmas, but not long after Christmas, we would soon forget.

I wonder how many times throughout the Old Testament people were wondering when the Deliverer would come and then forget and not worry about it anymore. Many probably thought that God did not care and that He was only an impersonal god like all of the gods of the surrounding nations.

We have the benefit of hindsight. We know what happened and when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the Law.

Today's lesson talks about this very thing. God is faithful and no one can stop Him from being so.

Lesson 060 - God Judges Israel and Judah But Brings Back Some of His People From Assyria and Babylon Feb 03, 2019

Show notes

I am getting really excited. God gave us a record of His interaction with mankind right from the beginning. He has shown us how patient He is and also how good and gracious He is to those who refuse His goodness. At the same time, He has also shown us that He is not someone whom we can treat any way that we want. He is God and there is not another god.

Thank you all for being so patient as I prepare these lessons. I trust that in the future, they can be a blessing to you and others as you minister to them.

Lesson 059 - God Tells the Prophets To Write Many Things About the Coming Deliverer Jan 27, 2019

Show notes

God is unique among all that He has created but remember, He is in a category all His own. He is the only One who knows the future because He is eternal. He sees and knows everything that there is to know whether it has happened already or not. This could cause two reactions; great fear or great comfort. Fear, because everything will come to pass just as He said. Comfort, for the same reason. It all depends on who God is.

If He is only a God of wrath and judgment, then great fear will be the result because all a person can see is a Lake of Fire awaiting them. If He is only a God of love and mercy, then great comfort is the natural conclusion because all a person sees is Heaven, but to believe either of these views to the exclusion of the other is to lead to great deception. God is both a God of great wrath, and great mercy. Accepting both of these views leads to another conclusion; choice.

All through the Old Testament you have seen a series of choices and you have also seen God's character. Soon, we will discover how God is going to reconcile these two seemingly opposing views that people have of Him.

Lesson 058 - God Chooses Jonah and Other Men To Be His Messengers To Israel Jan 20, 2019

Show notes

Wow! Time sure seems to hurry on. At the end of this lesson, we will have covered about 3,500 years of history, but not God's history, man's. I am sure that many thought God had forgotten them and was not going to bring His promise to pass. We need to be patient. He is a faithful God and He does nothing without purpose. He is not working on mankind's timetable but His own. Let's see what happens next.

Lesson 055 - The Bronze Serpent Dec 30, 2018

Show notes

God continued to provide ways for Israel to realize that their only hope was Him. All they had to do was admit that they were sinners and come to Him in the way He prescribed and He would bless them as He promised them He would.

Throughout the Scriptures we see many pictures, metaphors that God provided in order to help Israel understand their need of a Deliverer. Today's lesson is going to be one of them. Let's see how God and Israel handle this situation.

Lesson 054 - God Provides During Israel’s Wilderness Wanderings Dec 23, 2018

Show notes

Over and over again I am challenged to evaluate my life in light of the Israelites. Their hearts were deceived because they did not recognize that they were descendants of Adam and Eve.

Sure, they must have admitted that they were their ancestors, but only in the physical sense. They did not see themselves as spiritual descendants of Adam.

As we read these lessons, it is important to realize our spiritual heritage also. Adam has infected all of us and these historical events verify that what God says is true.
