    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    First, the plaintiff used to be engaged to the defendant. She claims the defendant stole money from their joint bank account after they broke up, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff cheated on him with another man and the money he took out of the account was his. He says the plaintiff stole a water filtration system, so he’s countersuing for that cost.


    Then, the plaintiff lived with the roommate. He claims the defendant stole his debit card, birth certificate, and other forms of identification, then attacked him. He’s suing for stolen money. The defendant argues the plaintiff was a nightmare roommate and tried breaking up him and his wife. He’s countersuing for back rent and stolen food.


    Plus, the plaintiff sold a car to his girlfriend’s friend, but he gave her the car and title before she paid him in full. He’s still waiting for his money, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the car is in terrible shape and requires tons of work. She’s countersuing for lost wages and car repairs.

    'Losing it' & 'Do-Run Run on a Du-rag Business' & 'Ignoring a Tenant' Mar 21, 2025
    Show notes

    The plaintiff and defendant work together. The plaintiff says the defendant got drunk at a company Christmas party and threw up on him. He got his suit jacket dry cleaned, but not all the stains came out. He’s suing for the cost of a new suit. The defendant argues he apologized to the plaintiff several times and offered to pay for the cleaning.


    The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. She claims the defendant was a terrible landlord and the apartment was in shambles. She’s suing for moving expenses. The defendant argues the plaintiff stopped paying rent, so she’s suing for unpaid rent and punitive damages.


    The plaintiff started a headwrap business with the defendant. She claims the defendant stole her equipment, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff didn’t do anything for their business, so she doesn’t think she owes. She’s countersuing for emotional distress.

    'Pooling Around' & 'Refusing a Rent Refund' & 'Doggie Dillema' Mar 20, 2025
    Show notes

    First, the plaintiff was hired to install an aboveground pool on the defendant’s property. He claims the plaintiff won’t pay him for the work he and his workers did, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff’s workers did a terrible job and he doesn’t owe the plaintiff


    Then, the plaintiff was at the dog park and says the defendant’s dog bit his dog and broke two bones. He’s suing for the cost of the pet’s vet bills. The defendant argues the dogs were off-leash, so she doesn’t owe.


    Plus, the plaintiff paid the defendant for a room for her daughter to live in. She says the defendant kicked her daughter out of the apartment, but the defendant won’t return her security deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff’s daughter was a slob who left rotting food in the room and made the whole house smell. She doesn’t think she owes because the daughter moved out early.

    'A Premature Car Sale' & 'Turning a Blind Eye' & 'Taking Too Much Money' Mar 19, 2025

    First, the plaintiff purchased a car from the defendant, his dad’s friend. The title was in someone else’s name and he says he has been defrauded. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant argues he told the plaintiff there was a problem with the title and he was working on fixing it.


    Then, the plaintiffs, a husband and wife, own a custom blinds business. The defendants hired them to install blinds in their house, but they are still waiting for the full amount they’re owed, so they’re suing. The defendants argue the plaintiffs did a terrible job and damaged their house. They’re countersuing for damages.


    Plus, the plaintiff rented a house from the defendant and thinks he was a great tenant. He says the defendants are withholding his security deposit because they’re making bogus claims about damages, so he’s suing. The defendants argue the plaintiff was noisy, damaged their house, and were not liked by other tenants.

    The plaintiffs hired the defendant to build a treehouse for their kids. They say the defendant never built it and ruined their kids’ summer. They’re suing for a refund. The defendant argues the plaintiffs threatened them for not getting the work done fast enough.


    The plaintiff brings his niece to court. He says the defendant got mad at him and attacked his car with an umbrella. He’s suing for damages. The defendant argues she never touched his truck and he’s just being vindictive.

    'You Are a Faker' & 'No Refund for You' & 'License Plate Theft' Mar 17, 2025

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant have dated on and off for the past 20 years. The defendant gave the plaintiff a dog while they were together. However, the plaintiff alleges the defendant tried to get the dog back. During the exchange, the defendant had the plaintiff falsely arrested and ended up with the dog, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff is the one who stole her dog, and when she tried to get him back, the plaintiff physically attacked her.


    The plaintiff rented a house from the defendant. However, the defendant sold the house and refuses to return the security deposit, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff up and left the home without proper notice, so he doesn't believe he owes a dime.


    The plaintiff purchased a car from the defendant. A month later, the defendant took the plates, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff failed to prove employment, so she lost the vehicle.

    The plaintiff owns a gym. She claims the defendant, a member, called her credit card company to take back charges, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant often travels for work and told the plaintiff to put her gym membership on hold. However, the plaintiff charged her anyway, so the defendant went ahead and had her credit card company cancel the charge.


    The plaintiff parked at his building, but the defendant illegally towed his vehicle, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant says he towed the car because that’s what he was told to do.

The plaintiff says she was illegally evicted, so she’s suing. The defendant argues she hired an exterminator to get rid of the rodents and she never illegally evicted her. She’s countersuing for legal fees.


    Plus, the plaintiff purchased a car from the defendant, her former good friend. She says the friend turned around and told police the plaintiff stole the car, so the car was impounded. She’s suing because her personal property was in the vehicle when it was taken. The defendant argues the plaintiff took the car without paying, so he reported it stolen.

    'This Is Rubbish' & 'Get Out!' & 'Trucking It Up' Mar 11, 2025

    First, the plaintiff purchased a home from the defendant. He says the home had trash in front of it and he asked the defendant to remove it, but he never did. The plaintiff ended up hiring someone to get rid of the material, so he’s suing for the cost of the removal. The defendant argues he could’ve had the sanitation department take it away for free, so he doesn’t think he owes the plaintiff anything.


    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant showed up to her apartment without notice to conduct an inspection. The defendant went into her apartment, but the plaintiff was not fully dressed. She’s suing for abuse of right of reentry. The defendant argues the inspector wanted to do the impromptu visit.


    Plus, thehe plaintiff did mechanic work on the defendant’s car. He says the defendant paid but then disputed the charges and got a refund. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant argues the plaintiff did the work and charged his credit card without his authorization. He claims he just wanted an estimate, not the actual work.
