PMP #160: Why I don't want to scale my business Jan 12, 2020
    Show notes

When I meet new people and tell them that I run a one-man consulting business, I often get asked how I'm going to "scale" my business.

I usually respond by saying that I don’t want to scale. I explain that I’m making good money that supports my wife, son and I and that hiring employees would add a lot of stress and responsibility to the business. Keeping things smaller is a lot simpler and easier.

One of the reasons I love to track my time is because of the power you get from having an awareness of where your time goes. As 2019 comes to a close, I wanted to know how I’ve spent my time this year so I can make better choices going into 2020.

PMP #156: How my consulting business has changed in the last 3 years Dec 01, 2019
    Show notes

This month marks 3 years since I left my full-time job to work exclusively on my own business. I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by and how much has changed in the last few years.

I feel so privileged to be able to do what I do and I want to start by thanking you, dear reader (or listener), for allowing me to do what I do.

My goal has always been to run my own “lifestyle business” that gives me the freedom to work on my terms. And I love sharing what I’ve learned so that I can help others to do the same.

This is why I created my How to become a “virtual consultant” program a few years ago. It’s the one place that summarises everything I’ve learned about consulting and exactly how I operate so you can copy my process. Last month, I released an update to the program with some new lessons outlining the things I’m doing differently.

Today, I’d like to summarise some of the things I’ve changed to improve my efficiency and the value I deliver to clients.

PMP #155: 5 More things I need to remind myself every day Nov 24, 2019
    Show notes

A few months ago, I published a blog post titled: 10 Things I need to remind myself every day. I received a great response to this post and loads of people emailed me to say how useful the list was.

Here’s a quick summary of the list (you can go back and read the post to learn more about each):

    1. Slow down
    2. You don't have to do everything right now
    3. Remember how far you've come
    4. One day you'll be dead. Live life now.
    5. Remember what's really important
    6. Happiness is a choice
    7. Respond to hostility with kindness
    8. Everything will be okay
    9. Be present and don't use your smartphone to fill idle time
    10. People aren't really looking at you

A few months on, I thought I’d add to this list with 5 more things I need to remind myself every day (please share your own ideas in the comments below):

PMP #154: Creating systems to support growth with Josh Kruger Nov 17, 2019
    Show notes

In this episode of the Paul Minors Podcast, I interviewed a client of mine, Josh Krueger, all about his approach to automation and systemising your business. Josh is the founder and CEO of Dotcom Design, a web development and digital marketing agency.

I've been working with Josh and his team since July, helping them to systemise their business using Pipedrive, Asana and Zapier. They've been great to work with and so for the first time ever, I decided to interview a client for my podcast.

    PMP #152: How to cultivate a "task-centric mindset” Oct 27, 2019
    Show notes

One of the reasons I think I’m able to be productive is because I’ve cultivated a “task-centric mindset”.

As more and more stuff clogs up our mental inbox, it's easy to get overwhelmed with “too much to do”. This makes it harder to prioritise your time, good ideas can be forgotten about and you always feel like you’re trying to catch up on life.

Having a “task-centric mindset” helps you to stay on top of all this stuff and more importantly, execute on the things that matter.

PMP #151: Why I'm buying Bitcoin every single week Oct 20, 2019
    Show notes

Today, I’d like to explain a little more about why I believe Bitcoin is the future and why I’m buying small amounts of Bitcoin each and every week. I’m writing this post for absolute beginners and people who have heard of Bitcoin who don’t understand it and want to learn more.

My goal with this post is to pique your interest so you can go and do more research of your own. There really is so much more to learn about this topic. As I’ve learned more, I’ve become more optimistic about the future of Bitcoin and it’s potential to do good in the world.
