    333 - Charley Stefl

It is a great pleasure to have Charley Stefl with us. He is a true storytelling songwriter. Although most known for the songs he wrote that others recorded, he has a rich, distinct voice. A singer-songwriter, instrumentalist and recording artist, he released his solo album And The Wheels Turn... Some of the artists who have recorded his work would include Eddy Arnold, Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, George Jones, Blake Shelton, the Del McCourey Band and others. Stefl's abilities as storyteller are evident in his songs, and in this interview right here on The Paul Leslie Hour.

A lifelong musician, he's experienced in more than guitar playing - he's a live performer, recording artist, composer, arranger and producer. He served as the musical director for the house band on the show Conan: Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band. He also headed a host of groups: The Vivino Brothers, The Black Italians, The Jimmy Vivino Band, Jimmy Vivino and the Rekooperators as well as being a member of the Fab Faux, a band dedicated to perpetuating the recorded music of the Beatles through live performances. This hour with Jimmy Vivino will only leave you wanting more and fully appreciate the power and magic of the music. He's on The Paul Leslie Hour and it is an exciting pleasure and honor. Join us!

    331 - Jason Burge - THE CURE 40 LIVE - CURÆTION-25 + ANNIVERSARY

The Cure remain one of the most fascinating bands in modern music. 2019 saw the release of the 2-DVD release "40 LIVE," which is a double concert film set that captures two monumental historic shows performed by The Cure in 2018 in celebration of their 40th Anniversary. After watching the DVDs in close detail, I sat down with music reviewer, writer, classically trained musician Jason Burge to discuss the films. Burge is a true aficionado of The Cure and was even present at the historic Hyde Park concert. It's an insightful exchange any fan of The Cure will enjoy.

I like to think The Paul Leslie Hour is full of all the best stories from the great storytellers. Pour yourself. hot, filled to the brim cup of coffee because this storyteller is one of the best. His name is Gary Gentry and he's written some of the great country music classics. Some of the best singers in history have sung his songs: Ray Charles, Janie Fricke, Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, David Allan Coe, George Jones, John Anderson and many others. Gary Gentry is known as one of the co-writers of "The Ride," one of the best songs ever written about the late Hank Williams. He's also writing a book at the present time. I felt lucky to say "welcome" to Gary Gentry. As always, let me know what you think!

There's nothing like a voice on the radio that comes through like an old friend. I'm not talking about bravado and talk-up schtick. I'm talking about a regular guy on the radio. Larry Wachs is sure to go down in broadcasting history as an innovator in radio. The Regular Guys show was the biggest Atlanta morning radio show in history, airing from 1998 to 2013. These days Larry Wachs hosts The Regular Guys Review, a podcast chronicling the history of the radio show with commentary and lots of hilarious archival audio footage. It was great to check in with radio's own Larry W-a-c-h-s. He's right here on The Paul Leslie Hour.

    325 - Glenn Phillips

"The most amazing guitarist I've ever seen," was what Lowell George of Little Feat said about Glenn Phillips: guitar virtuoso, composer, recording artist and founding member of the Hampton Grease Band. I found myself fortunate enough to be seated at his kitchen table. Phillips has just released ECHOES: The Hampton Grease Band, My Life, My Music and How I Stopped Having Panic Attacks. This titled item is a combination book, DVD and CD. This package's release afforded us the opportunity to delve into all types of topics: Atlanta, the late Col. Bruce Hampton, personal wellness/health/psychological issues that challenge all of us, music composition and also the 20th Annual Glenn Phillips Day-After-Thanksgiving Show at the Red Light Cafe in Atlanta.

Hear the interview and history and the present come alive. Glenn Phillips is on The Paul Leslie Hour. You're invited. It just may change the way you think.
