    Chaz McDonald is a guitarist in the genres of blues and rock from Atlanta, Georgia. He has performed thousands of concerts across the country with various bands. This archival interview took place when he was performing with A1A, the Booze Brothers and Vertical Smile. He is also a vocalist and has written songs like “Please Don’t Wake Me In L.A.” and is known for his abilities as a storyteller. Many of Chaz McDonald’s tales are “band stories,” or stories that could only happen to a musician on the road.

    Bart Herbison is the Executive Director of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI). It is the world's largest not-for-profit Songwriters trade association. The organization is committed to protecting the rights and future of the songwriting profession and to educate the public about songwriting and to protect the future of songwriting. Bart Herbison is a Tennessee native, he has a history in radio broadcasting, newspaper reporting and working in politics. Putting all of this together seems to be the perfect foundation for his professional life which is dedicated to preserving the future of the noble art and business of songwriting. It's an interesting and entertaining talk with a down to earth man of action.

    First it's a mini-review of the recent Tony Bennett concert, and then an interview with another legend in music. Jazz guitarist and banjoist Bucky Pizzarelli has a light-hearted chat about his musical life and perspectives. Originally recorded for radio broadcast, it now sees the light of day on the podcast. Bucky is synonymous with quality music. It's a tradition he has passed on to his sons John Pizzarelli and Martin Pizzarelli and his daughter Mary Pizzarelli. Bucky Pizzarelli has appeared on recordings of everyone from Tony Bennett to Ray Charles all the while being a prolific recording artist as a bandleader. He was even a member of the Tonight Show Band on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

    Paul English, Willie Nelson's longtime drummer and friend has passed away. English played and traveled with Willie Nelson longer than just about anyone. He was more than a drummer, he was Willie Nelson’s best friend and also handled many of the duties of the tour, including security and collecting the payment. Paul English played on several of Willie Nelson’s classic albums including “The Redheaded Stranger” and “Stardust.” He was kind enough to give us this interview that broadcast on the radio which was arranged by Mickey Raphael.

As a sideman he's worked with everyone from Bob James, Dave Grusin, Freddie Hubbard and Billy Joel just to name a few. In this short, fast-paced interview we discuss a number of topics including his recent album "Heart of Brazil: A Tribute to Egberto Gismonti."

Well, many of you saw him performing with the Basic Cable Band, late night TV talk show host Conan O'Brien's house band. Others may recognize him as the bandleader of the Jerry Vivino Quartet. Their latest album "Coast to Coast" has received great acclaim and is worth your attention! This interview with Jerry Vivino felt like I was talking to an old friend.     Abdul "Duke" Fakir is a founding member of The Four Tops, one of the most successful vocal groups of all time who defined the "Motown Sound" of the 1960s. They will forever be known for such evergreen songs as "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honeybunch)" and "It's the Same Old Song" among many others. The Four Tops have been an active musical group since 1953.
