    #923 - Jeff Pike - Fifth Interview

The Jeff Pike "Off-the-Cuff" Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.

Are you here? Your decision to be here is a personal decision. You made it here and we respect your decision. We thank you for tuning in to The Paul Leslie Hour an interview platform where you get to listen to fascinating people presented in a personal way.

What we have here for you is an interview from the archives with Jeff Pike, a recurring and cherished guest on this show. Until now, there were a total of four available interviews that Paul Leslie did with singer and recording artist Jeff Pike, and now with this episode releasing, there are… five. Five. I’ll tell you right now, this is the best of all of them. It was done kind of spontaneously— in-person, face-to-face. But, the nature of this interview was very personal.

Jeff Pike is the front man and founder of the band A1A, known in the tropical music world. A1A had just released the island-inflected album “Beach Wrecked,” when this interview was first heard. The latest news is that Jeff Pike has released a solo single entitled “Sunset on L.A.” You’ll want to check it out.

Just a quick heads up. The Paul Leslie Hour is made possible by listeners just like you. You personally can support independent media and give yourself and others the gift of stories. Just go right here, and we thank you!

And now, I think it’s time we listen to the more personal interview of Jeff Pike. Let’s listen… together.

    #922 - Bahama Bob

The Bahama Bob Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.

    Are you here?

Oh… you must be busy… busy, being here. Thank you for joining us right here, on The Paul Leslie Hour.

We’ve got an interview with Bahama Bob that’s been just waiting to come out. It originally broadcast on the radio in 2007, but the interview itself was recorded in a very nice hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bahama Bob you may be asking? Some of you already know. When your host Paul first became aware of Bob, his first thought was: “He seems like a real baller.” Good word to look up in the dictionary: “baller.”

This man, Bahama Bob splits his time between living in the United States and the Bahamas. He is a boater, operator of a Bahamian resort, oh and he’s a Jimmy Buffett fan, too. So he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

This is a man who has taken life by the teeth, and has worked hard, but maximized fun. Bahama Bob is going to share with you some of his philosophies in life…which includes kissing frogs (in the metaphorical sense.) He is a man who truly has the island spirit.

Before we begin the interview, I’d like to invite you to please help us out by subscribing to Paul Leslie’s YouTube channel. We’re trying to get to 3,800 subscribers by mid-October. We just had a big, big boost. We thank you for that. Subscribing is easy and free.

With that little announcement out of the way, let’s get the Bahama Bob interview out there into the world! Oh yeah, and hi Dave!

    #921 - Mark Fragale

The Mark Fragale Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.

Are you here? We want you to be here, dude!

What we have for you is a radio artifact. This is an interview from our archives that originally went out over the laidback radio airwaves.

On this episode we’re going to be taking you to a place that’s, well. Let’s say this establishment is no longer there. Let’s go back in time to drop in on the Honolulu Surf Museum located in Honolulu, Hawaii. As I said, it’s since closed it’s doors, but this interview is interesting nonetheless.

Let’s get into the who. This is an interview with Mark Fragale. Mark was the curator of the Honolulu Surf Museum which was located at Jimmy Buffett's at the Beachcomber, Jimmy Buffett's restaurant and bar. Mark is considered an expert on surfing history. He has lived in Hawaii since the 1970s.

Mark Fragale’s surfing story began in 1962 when at the age of 12 years old he saw a surfer gliding across the water on the Atlantic Ocean from the coast of New Jersey. He was hooked and so began his lifelong love for the sport of surfing!

You know, we’ve got tons of very unique content just like this. We’re rushing to get it all out by the end of this year. There are considerable expenses, and if you’re so inclined please go right here. Give yourself and others the gift of stories.

And with that, I think it’s time we start the show. So let’s start the show. That’s our thing. It’s what we do at the beginning.

    #918 - Roger Bartlett

The Roger Bartlett Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.

    Are you here?

If I had a dollar to wager, I’d say that you’re here, tuned into The Paul Leslie Hour!

We’ve got an interview with Roger Bartlett that originally went out on the radio. It’s been tucked since 2007, but now it’s a pleasure to bring this to you.

You’re about to hear your host Paul’s interview with songwriter and guitarist Roger Bartlett. Roger Bartlett is a solo artist and was also the front man for the band Hell’s Kitchen.

Oh, Roger was also the very first ever member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band. Interesting, isn’t it?

Let’s have a little history lesson. Back in the beginning, Jimmy Buffett typically performed solo, then would sometimes have harmonicist Greg “Fingers” Taylor informally sit in.

Then in 1974, Buffett started his first official Coral Reefer Band…with just one other musician. Accompanying Buffett was Roger Bartlett on guitar. The next year, Buffett added Harry Dailey on bass, Philip Fajardo on drums, and Fingers Taylor on harmonica and keyboards. Since he was the first band member, Roger Bartlett is known as the original guitarist of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band.

We hope you enjoy this in-depth interview with Roger Bartlett. In addition to talking about the old days of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, he talked about his life in Manhattan. Roger talked about his songs, which have appeared in some unusual places, including the movie “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.”

Roger Barlett will tell you about his childhood in Louisiana, as the son of Ray Bartlett, famed radio host of the show “Groovey Boy, The Boogie Master.”

Before we begin the interview, we would like to invite you to please subscribe to Paul Leslie’s YouTube channel. It’s free and we've got dozens more interviews and reviews that will be added by the end of 2023. We thank you for subscribing! It helps us both.

And with that, there’s really only one thing left to do. Let’s begin the interview with Roger Bartlett.

    #917 - Kip Attaway

The Kip Attaway Interview is featured on The Paul Leslie Hour.

Are you here? Howdy! Welcome to The Paul Leslie Hour.

It’s our extreme pleasure to present this interview from the archives with Kip Attaway. This interview went out on the radio back in 2007 and since that it’s been sitting on a disc. It’s our pleasure to bring it out to you all on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, iHeartRadio, and everywhere else.

Kip Attaway is one of the artists who is not so easy to categorize. Some folks know him as an artist with a comedic side. His songs can be quite hysterical, and some songs could be considered offensive to some. He’s known for and has a cult following for his comedy, but many may overlook his tremendous songwriting.

Kip Attaway writes everything from ballads to up-tempo stuff in calypso, country-western, and even Hawaiian music. Some of his songs have been recorded by other artists and many have charted. Micky and the Motorcars recorded his song “Rock Springs to Cheyenne,” and what a fantastic tune that is.

You will not regret the chance to listen to all of Kip Attaway’s music, from the wild and crazy to the serious and pensive. He is not an artist you will forget. A good way to start is to join us for this look at his music and the man himself. This interview was taped at the legendary Spondivits II restaurant in Cumming, Georgia. The Cumming location has closed, but the original Spondivits in East Point is still thriving.

With this Kip Attaway intervew, you’ll laugh, you’ll think and most of all, we hope you have fun!

Before we start the interview, just know how much we appreciate your being here. You can help us just by listening, but did you know you can give yourself and others the gift of stories? Keep us running by going right here, and we thank you.

And now, let’s hear what Kip Attaway had to say all of those years ago! Let’s listen. All of us. Together.
