    July 2, 2023 — Dean Bertram with Tim Swartz Jul 02, 2023
    Show notes

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce UFO researcher and filmmaker Dean Bertram, who talks about a documentary he's working on, "The Man Who Invented Flying Saucers." It tells the story of how Raymond A. Palmer, a disabled science fiction mega-fan became editor of America's leading science fiction “pulp” magazine, Amazing Stories, and created modern UFO belief. Palmer grew the magazine to all time circulation highs with a heady combination of hi-octane space operas and pseudo-scientific theories, culminating in something known as the “Shaver Mystery,” a series of tales by Richard S. Shaver allegedly based on real-life contact with a technologically advanced subterranean civilization, and space faring extraterrestrials, that abduct human beings from the earth's surface. As the Shaver Mystery reached its zenith, in June of 1947, pilot Kenneth Arnold reported some of the first “flying saucers” seen in American skies. His account exploded across the world. Palmer hired Kenneth Arnold, with whom he co-wrote a series of articles and a book, "The Coming of the Saucers," that recounted the case of a proto-Roswell UFO crash, Men in Black, murderous conspiracies, abductions, and missing time. In other words, the blueprint for modern UFO lore.

    June 25, 2023 — Paul Ascough with Tim Swartz Jun 25, 2023
    Show notes

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz present UFO researcher Paul Ascough, who has spent over 50 years involved in UFO research and investigation. He has had his own sightings and was a member of the British UFO Research Association. His book, "UFOs — The Real Story Revised Edition 2023," is described as a refreshing new slant on the subject of UFOs. The front cover shows a representation of his first sighting, witnessed with his father and younger brother in September 1968. The book looks at the bigger picture with all of its complexities, with expanded explanations of why we see and experience what we do and is interlaced with many of the author's own sightings throughout his life. Employed in the medical field all of his career, before retirement Ascough was a qualified nurse, occupational health nurse and qualified paramedic, spending 13 years with both the regular and territorial British Army around the world, gaining perspectives in people and places that would stand him in good stead for his ideas and experiences that contribute to his ongoing UFO studies.

So his book "From Strawberry Fields to Abbey Road: A Billy Shears Story," written along with Don Wilson, explores one of the wildest rumors to ever come out of the entertainment world — the "Paul is Dead" legend. May 21, 2023 — Travis Roy with Tim Swartz May 21, 2023
    Show notes

Gene and cohost Tim Swartz talk about the legends and reality behind so-called giants over the years with researcher Travis Roy. According to Roy, giants roamed America in the ancient past, building fortifications and erecting massive burial and temple worship mounds. In actuality, he says, this race of titans roamed the earth, leaving their esteemed deceased within tumuli of earth and stone. Their handiwork can still be seen across the globe. Current history texts attribute a more-modern native approach to be the builders of such works (stone and dirt pyramids, Easter island heads, megalithic monuments etc.), but Roy speculates that another race is responsible. He states that their bones have been discovered by archaeologists and anthropologists of the not-too-distant past. Newspapers once reported the findings of these skeletons. From 1850-1940 they constantly made the news. But then they suddenly stopped. Why? A conspiracy perhaps?

He considers himself a student of the paranormal and has explored and published numerous articles on what some have called “The Coal Region Hoodoo.” With “Coal Region Hoodoo: Paranormal Tales from Inside the Pit,” Furek continues his sociological exploration of high strangeness inside the Pennsylvania wormhole that gave birth to “The Night of the Living Dead,” “The Blob,” and “The Philadelphia Experiment.” His book takes us beyond the netherworlds of Centralia, Sheppton, Chestnut Ridge, and The Pennhurst Asylum. It looks into the eyes of demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren and the twisted souls of serial killer Gary Heidnik and controversial artist and experiencer Richard S. Shaver, while exploring the preternatural secrets of Bigfoot, cryptids, Kecksburg and other strange events.
