Clean Energy View -Rob Sisson: The Green Scissors Campaign May 08, 2012
    Show notes

Each year the US government spends billions of dollars to promote old energy technologies as well as new, unproven and even risky ones. Many of these technologies are destructive to public health and to the environment. However, billions of taxpayer dollars could be saved by cutting subsidies to them. Yet, we continue to ask taxpayers to subsidize these technologies of the past or to ante up money for new harmful technologies that are fiscally and environmentally reckless. The government has been doling out too much money in subsidies that being used for old technologies that are not helping us secure sustainable and reliable energy. Since its inception in 1994, the Green Scissors Campaign has fought to make environmental and fiscal responsibility priorities in Washington. The campaign seeks to eliminate subsidies and programs that harm the environment and waste taxpayer dollars. By making these cuts, the federal government can save money for priorities including deficit reduction. ConservAmerica has partnered with The Green Scissors Campaign to help educate and provide outreach for this initiative. In this segment of The Clean Energy View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Rob Sisson, President of ConservAmerica, the national grassroots organization of Republicans for Environmental Protection. Why Did Connecticut Cave With The GMO Right To Know? May 05, 2012
    Show notes

The battle to mandate GMO labeling in the state of Connecticut looked very promising. 90% of the CT residents polled supported mandatory GMO labeling. Early vote counts within the legislature showed the majority of legislators were in favor of this bill. However, in recent developments, it has been found that this bill has now been eviscerated. According to former New York City prosecutor Tara Cook-Littman, “The constitutional argument is absurd, and everyone knows it. As long as Connecticut law makers had a legitimate state interest that was reasonably related to the labeling of products produced from the process of genetic engineering, the GMO labeling bill would be considered constitutional by any court of law." Cook-Littman, a CT resident, is the co-founder of Right To Know CT, along with Analiese Paik. She stated that representatives and senators who learned of Friday night’s political maneuverings are equally disgusted. Littman says, “it appears that the biotech industry’s influence was in place all along, waiting for this tactic to be deployed at the last minute, with no time to argue before the vote.” Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer is joined by special guests Analiese Paik, Tara Cook-Littman co-founders of Right To Know CT. Also joining the conversation will be renowned GMO activist, Jeffrey Smith, Executive Director of the Institute for Responsible Technology.

The month of May has been designated Celiac Awareness month. He has also been a collaborator on the Open Revolt project, which makes low-cost electric vehicle motor controllers available to everyone. Are There Moral & Ethical Issues Defending The Environment? May 02, 2012
    Show notes

When you think about the world we live in, it almost seems surreal. Considering the myriad of issues with our health, environment and relationships with other living beings, our modern society resembles something that could be found in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Whether it is the fight to label GMO’s on our food, the quick fix in a pill to relieve us of everything from depression to potential pregnancy, to the lack of respect for our own environment for the sake of increased market share, we do have, as human beings, the moral and ethical issues to consider. Tune in to this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, as host, June Stoyer is joined by special guest Mike Stafford. Michael Stafford is a nationally syndicated political columnist through Cagle Cartoons. His writing has been featured on numerous blogs including FrumForum, Coffee Party USA, The Cagle Post, and TommyWonk, as well as in The Dialog (the newspaper for the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware). He is also a regular contributor to Town Square Delaware. Politically, Mr. Stafford formerly served on both the Delaware State Republican Committee and on the New Castle County Republican Committee. He remains active in politics as the Delaware Coordinator for Republicans for Environmental Protection.
