    What Happened To Terry Ingram’s Hives? May 31, 2012

    Terrence Ingram is a well-educated farmer who holds degrees in physics and math, with minors in history, biology and education. He has been farming for over 50 years, has been a beekeeper, apiary instructor and bee researcher for over 56 years. He was also a columnist with the prestigious American Bee Journal. Terry has been working to raise awareness about the devastating impact of agro-chemicals on bees as well as other beings such as the Bald Eagle. He has been monitoring the impact and decline for many years. Terry Ingram believes his bees were recently confiscated by the Illinois Department of Agriculture because he was developing a glyphosate resistant bee. This confiscation destroys years of his research. Mr. Ingram will have an opportunity in greater detail to explain what he believes has occurred here. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Terrence N. Ingram, President & Executive Director, Eagle Nature Foundation, Ltd. Bio: Terry has been the Executive Director and President of the Eagle Nature Foundation since its inception in 1995. He has studied bald eagles for various businesses and organizations for close to 50 years. He also received the Sol Feinstone Environmental Award amongst many others for his efforts on behalf of the Bald Eagle. Terry is also an expert on eagles and is the author of the book, “Eagle” published by Friedman Publishers.

    There are 5.3 billion mobile subscribers (that’s 77 percent of the world population) and this number is growing every day, according to ITU World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators database. Of 1.8 billion households worldwide, one third have internet access, compared to only one fifth five years ago. In developing countries, 25% of homes have a computer and 20% have Internet access, compared to 20% and 13%, respectively, 3 years ago. People take for granted that when they shop online, send emails or communicate with friends, they are using energy. The websites they use are powered by data centers around the globe and require an enormous amount of energy for cooling. Stephen O'Donnell is globally recognized as an expert in Storage, Cloud, Data Centers, Managed Services, IT Security, Smart Grid, Big Data Analytics and Sustainability. He is an analyst and commentator, with a unique insight into the IT Industry and how it works end-to-end. With a career IT budget of over $30B he has led the delivery of some of the most significant global change programs of the last three decades. He was Global Head of Data Centres at British Telecom, the largest data centre operator in Europe. He is Chairman of Greenbang.com a Smart Grid and sustainability analyst firm. As a subject matter expert, Steve is credited as the initiator of the Data Centre Maturity Model adopted by the Green Grid, Yahoo, eBay, Google and other major firms. This model is designed to drive sustainability and reduce the energy consumption of global data centers. He holds patents in extreme efficiency IT cooling technology.     Children of Vietnam Veterans & Those Exposed To Agent Orange May 24, 2012

    The Children of Vietnam Veterans and Those Exposed To Agent Orange & Dioxin is an organization founded by children of Vietnam Veterans dedicated to finding justice, finding answers and offering support for the generational victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. This is the first group of its kind because it was founded by children of Vietnam Veterans who desperately want our peers to no longer feel alone. They acknowledge the vast amount of people around the globe who have come into contact with Agent Orange such as Americans, Australians, Vietnamese, Koreans, Canadians, Japanese, People of Guam and many more. Because the generational victims are rarely recognized, COVVHA seeks to collectively bring about change and make the voices of those affected heard. Kelly L. Derricks is the daughter of deceased Vietnam Veteran Harry C. Mackel, Jr. Harry died in 1982 at the age of 37 after being exposed to Agent Orange while serving two tours in Vietnam in addition to a tour on Johnston Island. After serving with the United States Air Force, Harry went on to serve the City of Philadelphia as a highly regarded and awarded officer of the Stakeout Unit with the police department. Kelly was only seven years old when her father died. Kelly has been working as an independent Agent Orange/Dioxin advocate since early 2007. She has expanded her work under the name “Truth Teller” to legislative areas, environment and agriculture, public speaking, blog authoring, and medical awareness, while tying everything back to encompass her main platform of seeking justice for those exposed. He worked for the US Environmental Protection Agency as a Manager for International Environmental Technical Assistance and as Project Manager for Hazardous Waste Remediation (Superfund).He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) and certified energy manager (CEM). Mr. Gilbert has an MBA from the University of Connecticut and an MS, Environmental Engineering from Cornell University.

    Bee Friendly Zone -Making The World A Safer Place For Bees! May 22, 2012

    Bees of all species, as well as other insects, are declining in numbers because of the increased use of agricultural chemicals, the destruction of their natural habitat and the accidental importation of diseases and parasites. As the population continues to decline, we need to do what we can to create food sources our pollinators. A Bee-Friendly Zone is a safe place where bees and other insects can nest, forage for pollen and nectar and go about their business without coming into contact with potentially toxic chemicals. Phil Chandler, an activist, educator and radio show host of The Barefoot Beekeeper which is the most popular radio show about beekeeping has come up with a plan! Phil has recently launched his own initiative called www.beefriendlyzone.com which encourages people all over the world to create a pesticide, friendly environment that bees can safely exist. The site also serves as a hub for people to learn about beekeeping and connect with other like-minded people.
