Reality Leigh Winner (born December 4, 1991)[5] is an American former enlisted US Air Force member and intelligence specialist. In 2018, she was given the longest prison sentence ever imposed for unauthorized release of government information to the media[6] after she leaked an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections.[7] She was sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison.[8]
On June 3, 2017, while employed by the military contractor Pluribus International Corporation, Winner was arrested on suspicion of leaking an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections from the National Security Agency (NSA) to the news website The Intercept. The report indicated that Russian hackers accessed voter registration rolls in the United States with an email phishing operation, though it was unclear whether any changes had been made.[9]
Concerns were raised that The Intercept's handling of the material exposed her as the source and contributed to her arrest.[10] Twice denied bail, Winner was held at the Lincoln County Jail in Lincolnton, Georgia.[11] On August 23, 2018, Winner was convicted of "removing classified material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet" and sentenced to five years and three months in prison as part of a plea deal.[12] She was incarcerated at the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, and released to a transitional facility on June 2

Carla Casper-Brown - Missing ; bring Jennifer Rayleen Casper home
In May 2005 Jennifer Casper Brown disappeared. 18 years later and information is sparse on this vulnerable missing person. Carla, her Mother, joined Ed Opperman to talk about her daughter, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and expressing the hope - no matter how little - that someone, somewhere knows something about her daughters' location or is in possession of information which could bring Jennifer home to her family, being closure to this situation.
There are Facebook groups and other web pages listed at the bottom of this post. If you know anything or can help in any way, please feel free to reach out.
    From the Charley Project
Jennifer was last seen at approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 5, 2005. She had been at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino with a friend earlier that morning. Afterwards she went to the Reno Sparks Cab Company, her mother's place of work, in the vicinity of the 400 block of Gentry Way in Reno, Nevada. She stopped by there to visit her mother, but her mother was not there at the time.
Jennifer was very intoxicated and didn't have enough money to pay her cab fare. She ran from the taxi, breaking her high-heeled shoes in the process, climbed over a fence at the back of the establishment and disappeared. The business is only half a block from Jennifer's home. A few minutes before she vanished, Jennifer called her father in Las Vegas, Nevada and said she needed to go to that city, but she apparently never arrived there. She has never been heard from again.
According to Jennifer's husband, Sean Ross, he came home the night before her disappearance and found her drunk, with cuts on her wrists, and saying she needed to leave. She had her clothes and family photos packed in a bag. Sean stated he initially tried to change her mind, but he let her go after Jennifer insisted. Sean stated Jennifer left behind two handwritten notes, stained with her own blood. The notes directed who should be permitted to have contact with her young son if anything should happen to her, and stated her possessions should go to Sean.
Jennifer was unemployed at the time of her disappearance; she had been working as an exotic dancer, but had been fired from this job a week before her disappearance. She had previously been a professional ballerina. That career ended due to a tailbone injury, but she still gave dance lessons. She was deep in debt and her credit cards were maxed out.
Sean reported Jennifer's disappearance to the police on May 10, five days after he last saw her. When he initially told Jennifer's mother she was missing, he stated he thought she might be dead and in the river.
Jennifer's mother doesn't think she wrote her daughter wrote the goodbye notes herself; she stated that her daughter and Sean had often practiced writing in the other's hand. According to Jennifer's mother, Sean lied numerous times to the media about Jennifer's case and also to the police. He gave numerous different stories about Jennifer, saying she suffered from postpartum depression, had gone missing before and had been fired numerous jobs, and that she had had affairs during the marriage. None of those things were true.
In his initial statement to the police, Sean didn't mention the bag of belongings his wife supposedly had, the letters, or the cuts on her wrists, but those details were later added to his story. He told police Jennifer didn't have a dentist, which was untrue; she had only recently gotten her orthodontic braces removed and Sean was aware she had regular dental care. Sean also sold Jennifer's van before the police got to look at it.
According to Jennifer's mother, Sean missed five days of work in a row after Jennifer disappeared and left their son in the care of a babysitter during that time. He filed for divorce just three months after her disappearance and took custody of their son.
Jennifer was raised in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated Highland High School there; she moved to Reno in 1995. She attended Truckee Meadows Community College and then transferred to the University of Nevada at Reno. She was a Dean's List student and majored in veterinary medicine before switching to biomedical engineering. She also tutored in physics and mathematics. She was one year away from completing her degree at the time of her disappearance, and had dreamed of finding a cure for autism or cancer.
Foul play is suspected in her case, which remains unsolved.

Suzanne Smith - The Alter Boys
Suzanne Smith joins Ed Opperman to discuss her disturbing non-fiction work The Alter Boys
Glen Walsh and Steven Alward were childhood friends in their tight-knit working-class community in Newcastle, NSW. Both proud altar boys at the local Catholic church, they went on to attend the city's Catholic boys' high schools: Glen to Marist Brothers, Hamilton, and Steven to St Pius X. Both did well: Steven became a journalist; Glen a priest.
But their lives came to be burdened by secrets kept and exposed. Glen discovered that another priest was sexually abusing boys and reported the offender to police, breaking his vows to the Catholic 'brotherhood' in the process. His decision to give evidence regarding the cover-up of clerical abuse at a landmark trial ended in tragedy. Meanwhile, Steven was fighting his own battle to overcome a traumatic past, a battle that also ended in tragedy.
Ensuing investigations revealed that at least 60 men in the region had taken their own lives. What had happened, and why were so many of those men from the three Catholic high schools in the area?
By six-time Walkley Award-winning investigative reporter Suzanne Smith and shortlisted for the 2020 Walkley Book Award, The Altar Boys is the explosive expose of widespread and organised clerical abuse of children in one Australian city, and how the cover-up in the Catholic Church in Australia extended from parish priests to every echelon of the organisation. Focusing on two childhood friends, their families and community, this gripping story is backed by secret documents, diary notes and witness accounts, and details a deliberate church strategy of using psychological warfare against witnesses in key trials involving paedophile priests.

Jimmy Savile Victim - Caroline Robinson May 29, 2023
    Show notes

In the 1970s in the UK, there can be few names which were as synonymous with childrens television than Jimmy Savile. Savile same to fame via Radio Luxembourg and Tyne Tees Television, eventually appearing on the BBC radio and television networks. He was lauded by politicians and other celebrities for his ‘tireless’ charity work, but beneath the veneer of an eccentric show business DJ and philanthropist, lay a vicious and depraved pervert. Something which only came to wider public attention after his death.
Ed’s guest is Caroline Robinson, great niece to Savile. She tells how it was known what Savile was in the family, and she herself was victim to the abuse Savile dished out to others. Unlike others, though, Ms Robinson’s silence was bought by both Savile lavishing gifts and support on her and the wish not to have the association to someone so famous suddenly removed from her family. ‘It made me proud to tell others my Great Uncle was Jimmy Savile’ she said.
Following Savile’s passing in 2011, a sleuth of accusers – many unknown to each other – surfaced. Savile had allegedly sexually abused children in theatres, cars, private homes, BBC dressing rooms and almost no area was safe for him to be left alone with a child of either sex. His access to places like Broadmoor and Stoke Mandeville Hospital also gave suspicion that Savile may have abused patients and there is some evidence to suggest Savile indulged in necrophilia.
The legacy of filth lives on; did the BBC mandarins know about Savile? Was his presentation from a distant studio in Manchester a move to make staff feel safer whilst not acknowledging complicity?
This interview is about family. It’s about having a secret; but it’s also about how a slick, protected paedophile fooled a nation, how he betrayed parents, abused vulnerable and/or impressionable children and adults and how he was in plain sight all the time.
Books: In Plain Sight: The Life and Lies of Jimmy Savile Savile - The Beast: The Inside Story of the Greatest Scandal in TV History: Singing with "Iron Maiden" - the Drugs, the Groupies...the Whole Story Victim Zero: Jimmy Savile tried to ruin my life. I was the first victim to fight back.

Anneke Lucas – Quest for Love ; Memoir of a child sex slave
Ed’s guest is Anneke Lucas, who has had a traumatic yet ultimately inspiring life. She has ascended from the terrible abuse she suffered as a child to become an icon; a model, writer and a speaker for child trafficking victims and survivors.
She has done this through years of therapy, but also through yoga, meditation and writing, developed by herself during over a decade of supporting and campaigning for victims both inside the prison system and in the wider world.
She has developed a way of being; a healing and coping mechanism she calls ‘The Unconditional Model’, which she believes not only helps those survivors plagued by trauma and flashbacks, but also can be beneficial to society as a whole.
She tells Ed Opperman about her journey and her book.

Lynn Crook - False Memories - The Deception That Silenced Millions May 29, 2023
    Show notes

Ed Opperman’s guest today is Lynn Crook. False memory syndrome is a go-to diagnosis for memories which, when recovered, seem to have no corroborating evidence. There’s a whole world of research into False Memory Syndrome, the causes and effects of ‘remembering’ things which never happened. But the syndrome has also become a useful tool in discrediting those whose recollections are clear enough, yet lack substantive evidence.
    From Her Amazon;
When states allowed adults who were molested as children to sue for damages, accused parents went on the offense. The parents claimed the accusations were false memories implanted by therapists. The parents established a non-profit and invested millions in a PR campaign to promote themselves as falsely accused, and to dismiss crimes committed against children as false memories. As evidence, they offered the story of an older brother who convinced his younger brother he was lost at a mall. The false memory story went viral. The popular press and psychology textbooks failed to challenge false memory claims. Individuals who challenged false memories were silenced. The author explains how her successful lawsuit against her parents helped her uncover the rest of the false memory story.
Lynn Crook, M.Ed., has a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington (1970). Lynn was herself a therapist when she recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse. Lynn Crook, MEd, successfully sued her parents for damages in 1994, based on a corroborated claim of childhood sexual abuse.
