“Deceived” is a memoir of Detective Mike King’s 1991 investigation and the ultimate take-down of a deviant polygamous cult called the Zion Society. For over a decade, gossip swirled around northern Utah that a secretive group of religious zealots were buying up homes to take over a developing neighborhood in an Ogden community. The homes were known far and wide for their immaculately landscaped yards. Rumors spread that a well-known landscaper in the city had proclaimed himself to be a prophet of God and was being commanded to start his own secret religion that promoted polygamy. It was also believed these extremists were stockpiling weapons as part of their doomsday beliefs. In reality, the leader was directing some of the most repugnant crimes against women and children ever seen in the state. The hidden atrocities of the cult may never have been discovered if not for the courage of one of its members. Thirty years later, victims reconnected with each other and with the lead investigator to address the shortcomings of the criminal justice system regarding child victims.

Terry Hobbs and Vicky Edwards - Box Full of Nightmares

In 1993, three eight-year old boys, Stevie Branch, Michael Moore, and Chris Byers, were murdered; their naked, mutilated bodies found shoved into the mud at the bottom of a ditch. The information developed by investigators pointed to three teenagers as the murderers. The three teens were convicted after two separate trials. One was sentenced to life imprisonment, one was sentenced to life plus forty years, and the third was sentenced to death. The convictions of the three teens became one of the most controversial cases in the State of Arkansas. During the early years of their incarceration, the growth of the Internet connected people all over the world through discussion forums and websites. As a result, the three teens, who became known as the “West Memphis Three,” developed a cult following that included the support of high-profile celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Peter Jackson, and Eddie Vedder and others, who all bought into the myth that the three convicted murderers were innocent.Today, the three convicted murderers are free. They appear to have given up their quest for judicial exoneration. Once they exhausted all other potential “guilty” parties, (some joined their camp and others were obviously not guilty), they focused their attention on Terry Hobbs, step-father of Stevie Branch, in an effort to divert attention from the evidence proving their guilt. Terry Hobbs was never a suspect in the murders and the facts of the case do not support his guilt. Undeterred, the convicted killers and their supporters continue to point fingers at Terry Hobbs.

Christian Cipollini - Dopeman

Christian Cipollini is an award-winning Author, Organized Crime Historian, and Comic Book Creator. He was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, an a childhood fascination with history's lesser-known corners led to his twenty-something years becoming very focused on the subjects of organized crime, politics, pop culture, how it all intertwined. Cipollini penned his first true crime book - Diary of a Motor City Hitman - published in 2013. From there, he began appearing on and consulting for true crime documentary shows, followed by two more non-fiction book releases, several book awards, speaking engagements, a comic book series based on the life and crimes of mobster Charles 'Lucky' Luciano, and most recently - editing, co-writing the sinister personal memoirs of modern day drug cartel sicario El Mano Negra. Cipollini frequently contributes to UK based true crime magazine 'Real Crime' and The Mob Museum blog, while his organized crime insight and can be found quoted in media outlets such as Vice, Penthouse, The Huffington Post and AM New York.

Ron Chepesiuk joins Ed Opperman to discuss one of the most unusual serial killers of our times; Henry Wallace
Henry Louis Wallace terrorized Charlotte, North Carolina, from May 1992 to March 1994.
Wallace preyed on lower economic class Black women between 17 and 35 years old. He knew most of his victims, some through his job at Taco Bell, and gained their trust with his friendly demeanor and gentle nature—concealing a monster fueled by drug abuse and rage against women.
A rarity in that he was an African American serial killer, his murderous rampage spurred controversy throughout the city. Community members accused local police of ignoring the murders because of the victims' race. Wallace attended the funerals of many of his victims and offered condolences to families. The ensuing investigation became the largest in North Carolina’s history.
Wallace was eventually found guilty and convicted of nine counts of murder, but he admitted to more killings while incarcerated; he is potentially responsible for anywhere from 20 to 90 deaths of Black women. Wallace continues to appeal and awaits his execution at Central Prison in Raleigh.
