The Hunt For The Night Stalker Richard Ramarez Jul 08, 2024

Gil Carrio - The Hunt for a Serial Killer.
    Nov 30, 2023
Unlike many other entries in the true crime genre, Netflix's docuseries places its central focus not on the criminal, his crimes, or his victims, but on the police's efforts to collect clues, piece them together, and track him down. Obviously, Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer includes plenty of (very graphic, often disturbing) details about so-called Night Stalker Richard Ramirez's horrific crime spree across California throughout 1985. But, as the show's full title hints, Ramirez's string of murders, burglaries, carjackings, and sexual assaults is retraced specifically through the lens of the detectives who spent months trying to figure out who he was and bring him to justice.
The detectives in question were Frank Salerno and Gil Carrillo. While Salerno was already a well-renowned detective with decades of experience under his belt, including as the lead detective in the "Hillside Strangler" case that plagued Los Angeles in the late 1970s, Carrillo was a relative newcomer to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department homicide team, which caused many of his theories about the Night Stalker case to be initially dismissed due to his "rookie" status. Once Salerno started taking Carrillo's hunches seriously, though, the case began to come together, leading to Ramirez's arrest in August 1985 and Carrillo's rise to the ranks of the country's best homicide detectives.

Cephus Johnson - The Killing of Oscar Grant
    March 19
Oscar Grant III was a 22-year-old African-American man who was killed in the early morning hours of New Year's Day 2009 by BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle in Oakland, California. Responding to reports of a fight on a crowded Bay Area Rapid Transit train returning from San Francisco, BART Police officers detained Grant and several other passengers on the platform at the Fruitvale BART Station. BART officer Anthony Pirone kneed Grant in the head and forced Grant to lie face down on the platform. Mehserle drew his pistol and shot Grant. Grant was rushed to Highland Hospital in Oakland and pronounced dead later that day. The events were captured on bystanders’ mobile phones. Owners disseminated their footage to media outlets and to various websites where it went viral. Both protests and riots took place in the following days.

Miranda Barbour: Inside the Mind of a Teenage Killer Jul 07, 2024

Francis Scarcella - Miranda Barbour: Inside the Mind of a Teenage Killer
    January 11
The Satan worshiping teen charged with murdering a 42-year-old man she lured through Craigslist claims two other men responded to her ad but failed to show up.
Miranda Barbour, 19, and her husband, Elytte Barbour, 22, are accused of stabbing and strangling Troy LaFerrara in Pennsylvania, after he responded to her ad for 'female companionship' in November.
However Barbour now claims that two other unidentified men narrowly escaped death by failing to keep their appointments.
'I tried it a few times but it never worked out,' Barbour told The Daily Item in her second jailhouse interview in six weeks.
'I knew we (Elytte Barbour) were going to do this since the day we met, and we tried, but the others just didn’t show up.'
Barbour claimed in her first jailhouse interview on February 14 that she killed at least 22 other people over six years in a cross-country murder spree motivated by her satanic cult beliefs.
During her second jailhouse interview at the State Correctional Institution in Muncy, a maximum security women’s prison, Barbour repeated her claims and said the FBI have not questioned her.
She said she was prepared to show authorities where she hid the bodies.
'I said before I would talk to them (FBI) about all of this, but they never came to see me,' she told The Daily Item.
'They are looking for full bodies. They won’t find any. But they will find body parts.'
The Daily Item reported that local investigators in three murder locations named by Barbour are taking the claims seriously, but said they have no unresolved homicides they know about.
Barbour said she dumped some body parts in Big Lake, Alaska, and also in Mexico Beach, Florida where she worked as a 15-year-old go-go dancer.
She also said she dumped a body off Interstate 95 near Raleigh, North Carolina.
Barbour lived in Alaska, Florida and North Carolina before moving to Selinsgrove last fall with her husband.
Sunbury police say the couple murdered LaFerrara the day of their three-week wedding anniversary and Elyette Babour's 22nd birthday.
Elytte Barbour had allegedly told police he and his wife wanted to kill together.
In her sensational first jailhouse interview in February, Barbour claimed she killed 22 people in the past six years in Alaska, Texas, North Carolina and California.
Explaining that she adopted a murderous alter ego she dubbed 'Super Miranda' when she killed, Barbour said that she kept a favorite knife that had notches on - one for each of her victims.
Speaking to TMZ about the horrifying admission from Barbour, Daily Item reporter, Francis Scarella said that he omitted the frightening and unsubstantiated number from his story.
However, he confirmed that like the fictitious serial killer Dexter, Barbour said she only killed bad people - those who abused children or owed money and that her satanism controlled her murderous rages.
Indeed, Scarella told TMZ he spoke with an ex-roomate of Barbour's who said that the abused teen possessed two vials of semen belonging to her husband and that she used them to masturbate in a satanic ritual.
Claiming that she only killed 'bad people who do bad things' in her self-confessed nationwide murder-spree, Barbour has been compared to the fictitious 'moral' serial killer played by Michael C. Hall on the Showtime cable network.
Amid these gruesome claims, the tiny Alaskan town of North Pole has become the center of the outlandish story about satanism and serial killers that Barbour claims began at the behest of a cult leader.

Behind the Scenes Story Of Art Bell -Mel's Hole Jul 06, 2024
    Show notes

Art Bell was a radio legend. His call in shows were, are still are, the stuff of fantasy and nightmare. Bell himself was a expert showman, who could create something out of nothing; a simple call detailing an otherwise mundane situation, event or experience could be turned into a must listen, appointment radio.
Such was the tale of Mel's Hole. A listener called in talking about a hole he had found on his land; this hole, claimed the caller, was bottomless. Despite attempting to discover the depth of the aperture, it was never established. From minor things like domestic garbage and rubble, cars and vans, even industrial waste seemed to be swallowed up by this seemingly endless void. The caller didn't want to give his precise location, as he didn't want tourists trampling all over what was effectively his land and livelihood.
However, as the story grew so did the bizarre circumstance. The Military eventually turned up, took possession of the area and left the owner with no access; bizarre things started happening in and around the area. Call built on call, and with each embellishment the listenership grew, agog for the next detail which may just solve the mystery.
Except... none of this had definitive proof. No pictures, video or other supportive evidence was ever produced, at least nothing substantive. Eventually, the caller 'sold' the land and disappeared, and the mystery was left to grow in the bright combination of imagination and silence.
The truth is, no one knows what Mel's Hole actually was; was it a endless pit or was it just a clever gimmick with a suitably ambiguous name designed to boost ratings whilst not actually existing?
Whichever it was, Art Bell took the simple narrative and turned it, over a suitably events driven period of time, into an urban legend which made him and his show internationally famous. It is possibly the second most searched for clip on the Bell Archive and other search engines, triggering theories, imagination and wild, wild solutions.
It was a radio marketers dream.
This is the story of Mel's Hole.

Andrew Lownie – Lord Louis Mountbatten abuse allegations. Jul 06, 2024

Andrew Lownie – Lord Louis Mountbatten abuse allegations.
Andrew Lownie is a historian and author and former fellow of Cambridge college. He has written substantive and well-researched books on British society and particularly the Royal family.
In this interview he talks about the growing allegations that Lord Louis Mountbatten was a serial child / sex abuser.
    From Wikipedia
Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas Mountbatten was a British naval officer, colonial administrator and close relative of the British royal family. Mountbatten, who was of German descent, was born in the United Kingdom to the prominent Battenberg family and was a maternal uncle of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and a second cousin of King George VI. He joined the Royal Navy during the First World War and was appointed Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia Command, in the Second World War. He later served as the last Viceroy of India and briefly as the first Governor-General of the Dominion of India.
The fresh allegations – one of several that have surfaced recently – is different as the accuser has provided legal, medical and witness evidence, and has also provided his name. Something other accusers have been reluctant to have published for obvious reasons.
Book : Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke & Duchess of Windsor
The Mountbattens: The Lives and Loves of Dickie and Edwina Mountbatten
