Doug Poppa - The October 1 Shooting
June 14
On October 1, 2017, a mass shooting occurred when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada from his 32nd-floor suites in the Mandalay Bay hotel. He fired more than 1,000 rounds, killing 60 people and wounding at least 413. The ensuing panic brought the total number of injured to approximately 867. About an hour later, he was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The motive for the shooting is officially undetermined.
The incident is the deadliest mass shooting by one gunman in American history. It focused attention on firearms laws in the U.S., particularly with regard to bump stocks, which Paddock used to fire shots in rapid succession, at a rate similar to that of automatic firearms. Bump stocks were banned by the U.S. Justice Department in December 2018, but the ban was overturned by the Supreme Court for lacking a legislative basis in 2024.
Doug Poppa has been looking into this and all is not as it seems....

Ed is joined by Doug Poppa.
Las Vegas is a bright and shining light, beneath which lives are lead, lost and left behind. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, as they say. And this is as true of vice and corruption as it is of any other form of entertainment, both legal and illicit.
Doug Poppa has a wealth of stories under his name, stories where the 'good guys' are the villains, the bad guys are not as bad and no one is quite sure who controls who. A murky world of corruption, sex and drugs.
From the cop on the street to senior Judiciary, you don't know who is who until you are in deep
Doug Poppa is your guide on this tour de force of dirty laundry some would rather remain uncovered.

THE ‘BABY DOLL’ SERIAL KILLER: The John Eric Armstrong Homicides
October 28
He was unassuming, sweet, and friendly. “Saved” in church as a teen, he never caused trouble. In the Navy, they called him Opie. Though he was a big guy, he had a soft, boyish demeanor. “The boy next door,” said those who worked with and knew him.
But John Eric Armstrong had a dark secret—hidden even from those closest to him.
Prowling Detroit's well-known pocket of prostitution on historic Michigan Ave, this young husband and father picked up unsuspecting women who thought they were simply meeting a john. He seemed innocent, even driving a Jeep with a front plate reading "Baby Doll." But they soon discovered, he could turn on a dime -- fly into a rage. Sometimes he would leave his victims alive, but sometimes he didn’t.
In THE 'BABY DOLL’ SERIAL KILLER: The John Eric Armstrong Homicides, journalist B.R. Bates lays out the gripping story of this chameleon of a serial killer through his crimes – with a compassionate look at the life of each one of his victims – and the heroic efforts of law enforcement to catch him.

Gerald Cliff - Catching The Baby Doll Killer
4 days ago
In late 1999, women began disappearing from Detroit's thriving areas of prostitution. The following spring of 2000, when the bodies of three of them were discovered on a seedy stretch of railroad tracks in the southwest part of town, police realized there was a serial killer operating in the Motor City. And though it was a quick arrest - just a couple days later - police at first had no idea just how far and wide the horrors of this crime extended. As the perp began to talk, and he revealed detail after detail, it became all too clear that the case of John Eric Armstrong could span the country. And even the globe.
As the commanding officer of the Violent Crime Section that investigated the Armstrong case in Detroit, Dr. Gerald Cliff, he was at the forefront of this disturbing investigation into a killer with a reach that still remains largely unknown.
This is his story.
