ESPN's Matt Bowen discusses Gregg Williams Jan 12, 2017

Show notes

Hey, did you hear the Cleveland Browns hired Gregg Williams to be their next defensive coordinator? We gave you our thoughts over the last several days, but for the podcast, we turn to a man who played under Williams during his days in Washington in safety Matt Bowen.
Bowen was a four-year letter winner with the Iowa Hawkeyes before heading to the NFL as a defensive back. Following his playing days, Bowen swapped his cleats for a pen a pad as he is now a journalist covering the NFL for ESPN.

What was it like playing under a man who demands accountability?
What sort of impact will Williams have on both young players and veterans?
How important is the scheme change?
What sort of players can the Browns add in the NFL Draft to make Williams' defense more successful?

You will want to read Matt's story on Williams for Bleacher Report here. He can be followed on Twitter at @MattBowen41 and his ESPN archive can be found here. Big thank you to Matt for giving us his time. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did.

Dan Parker on the streaking Blue Jackets Jan 05, 2017

Show notes

It's WFNY Podcast #572 and it marks the return of occasional host Scott Sargent and former WFNY writer Dan Parker.

It took one of the greatest winning streaks in the history of the sport, but the Columbus Blue Jackets are the best team currently in the National Hockey League. With Cleveland (and national outlets) paying increased attention to the Jackets, we turned to our former CBJ beat reporter Dan Parker to discuss what, exactly, is going on down I-71 and why Cleveland fans should be paying even more attention.

Everything Encarnacion with EHC - WFNY Podcast #570 Dec 27, 2016

Show notes

Did you hear that the Cleveland Indians signed one of the biggest free agents on the market to the richest deal in team history? The Indians signed Edwin Encarnacion away from the Toronto Blue Jays and there was much rejoicing for a move that many Indians fans barely wanted to consider because they didn't find it to be all that feasible. The surprising Tribe made it a reality under President Chris Antonetti. Jim Pete and Mike Hattery of EHC fame break it down for the latest episode of the WFNY Podcast.
