Ben Thornley - The horror tackle that ended the dream Jun 15, 2020
    Show notes

Former Manchester United player and regular MUTV pundit Ben Thornley joins the Pod this week. The Class of 92' graduate spoke fondly of his time playing with Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Paul Scholes.

He told the team about the moment when he opened the front door to his mum and dad's home to see Sir Alex Ferguson stood in the doorway, and how he made his way into the first team, making his debut at West Ham.

However his story took a sad turn after a horror tackle in a reserve game left him needing serious knee surgery and rehabilitation. Ben talks about the difficulty he had with the aftermath both physically and mentally, and the key role Sir Alex Ferguson played in getting Ben back on the pitch.

Ryan Giggs - Undisputed Legend Jun 08, 2020
    Show notes

This week's guest is an undisputed Manchester United Legend - Ryan Giggs. The one-club man won it all at Old Trafford, so there was a lot to get through!

We tried to avoid questions that Ryan always gets asked, so we steered clear of that Arsenal goal... Instead Giggsy spoke about that time he and David Beckham struck a free-kick simultaneously, the dressing room's reaction to his tights in the Manchester Derby, and we got his side of the story from when Bryan Robson tricked him into a Sir Alex Ferguson hairdryer.

The Wales Manager opened up about his transition from flying winger to cultured midfielder, and how he was worried that the club might sell him around that time. He also spoke with great pride about the games where he sat in the hot seat as Man United's Caretaker Manager.

As always, the guys read out some of your e-mails at the end of the episode. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to get in touch.

Albert Morgan - Incredible Tales of a Kit Man Jun 01, 2020
    Show notes

This week we have our first guest who hasn't been a Manchester United player. Albert Morgan was the club's long-serving Kit Manager, working closely with Sir Alex Ferguson for twenty years.

Albert joined the Pod and had everyone in hysterics with his incredible tales from inside the Old Trafford dressing room. Pranks, burst sewer pipes, and what the United superstars were really like behind the scenes.

Albert made sure everything was perfect pre-game for the likes of Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham. Although there were one or two high-profile mistakes along the way...

There are some incredible moments throughout his career that could only happen to Nani; his rocket of a first goal, the kick-ups against Arsenal at Old Trafford (and the scoop over Almunia at the Emirates), the iconic backflips, that bizarre open goal against Tottenham - it's all covered in this episode.

The 2016 European Championship winner also opens up about his friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo; living together, winning everything, and Cristiano's ultimate departure. Plus there's an amazing story about driving Sir Alex home in frosty silence.

Patrice Evra - "From begging on the street to United legend" May 04, 2020
    Show notes

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra joined the Utd Podcast this week for an epic retelling of his incredible career.

From begging on the streets of Paris to lifting trophy after trophy at United, his emotional story had Helen Evans in tears at one point.

The Frenchman is as candid as you would expect about his arguments with managers, which rivals team he enjoyed beating the most, and how much he regrets leaving Man Utd for Juventus.

As this was a comprehensive look back on Patrice's career, we got his in-depth thoughts on the Luis Suarez racism incident in 2011.

The former United left-back also revealed how close he was to moving to Real Madrid, how he was inspired by Eric Cantona, and what Sir Alex Ferguson thinks of his Instagram posts these days.

McTominay & Lingard - "So it's come down to Beckham or Rashford" Apr 27, 2020
    Show notes

In this week's remote Utd Podcast we've dialled up United First Teamers Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingard and challenged them to build an ultimate Manchester United Academy XI.

Paul Pogba, Sir Bobby Charlton, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, George Best, Marcus Rashford - just some of the names Scott and Jesse had to squeeze into one team sheet. There were some big decisions to be made and probably some awkward phonecalls to follow.

The lads also opened up on what it was like coming through the ranks at Man Utd and how strong you have to be to succeed.
